Chapter 289: Save Her
Chapter 289: Save Her
Hearing Simon say this, Charlotte became furious. She cut in, "Let Mandy die. She deserves it."
"Why should Mr. Frost and Elena disappear while she gets to live?"
"Tell the doctor to stop the resuscitation. Let her die."
Charlotte loathed Mandy with every fiber of her being.
As Elena's friend, she had witnessed firsthand how Mandy and Christine had tormented Elena all these years.
She had no good feelings toward Mandy whatsoever.
Thinking about how Elena's death was caused by Mandy, she wanted to tear her limb from limb.
But just when everyone's hatred was spreading, Victoria made an unexpected decision.
She spoke firmly, "Save her!"
"Why?"
Simon and Charlotte almost simultaneously asked Victoria this question.
Victoria gave a contemptuous smile. Tears rolled down from the corners of her eyes.
She said, "She caused Harrison and Elena's deaths. If we just let her die like this, wouldn't that be too easy on her?"
"I want her to live, to see with her own eyes that we, the Frost family, are forever beyond her reach."
"Simon, Charlotte, keep searching. I believe Harrison and Elena are still alive."
Victoria's attitude instantly filled Simon and Charlotte with motivation. They split up, mobilizing all the resources they could to search for Elena and Harrison.
At the same time, the police also deployed a large force to search for Elena and Harrison.
The three children returned to their room.
Lily sat on her little bed looking dejected, her eyes brimming with tears.
Mia, usually so talkative, didn't say a word.
Connor stood by his computer, at a loss.
They were still too young to accept that their parents had left this world, had left them.
Connor sat down and opened his computer. Not knowing what else to do, he opened the surveillance video from that day again.
The three children stared at the computer screen, watching the video of Harrison and Elena falling into the water over and over.
The atmosphere in the room was quiet and heavy.
Suddenly, Lily's voice broke the silence.
Her voice trembling, she asked Connor and Mia, "Connor, Mia, do you think Dad and Mom are really dead?"
Mia shook her head. "I don't think so. I heard my godmother say that Mom is really good at swimming. When she was in college, she was the school's swimming champion."
"I've seen that river. Although the water was rough, if Mom swam hard, she'd definitely be okay."
"And Dad is so capable, too. With him by Mom's side, how could he not protect her?"
Though Mia said this, she wasn't confident either. They were too young to really understand what the conditions in the river would have been like.
Lily and Mia's words made Connor think a lot.
He looked at the surveillance video again. When he saw Harrison grabbing the rope tied around Elena's waist and falling from the bridge, his expression became serious.
He said, "I kind of regret not seriously calling him Dad when he was home."
"If he and Mom can come back safely, I'll definitely stand in front of him and call him Dad."
Connor's words made Lily and Mia's hearts ache.
The three children hugged each other tightly, as if only this way could they keep each other warm.
That night, Nathan had just finished surgery and was coming off the operating table when he received a call from an unknown number.
Looking at the unfamiliar number, Nathan couldn't help but furrow his brow.
He answered, "Hello, this is Nathan. Who's this?"
A weak voice came from the other end. "Nathan, it's me."
"Elena!"
Hearing that familiar voice, Nathan's words carried excitement.
He had been in surgery that afternoon. During the procedure, Charlotte had called to say Elena and Harrison had both fallen into the water, and their fate was unknown.
He was very worried about Elena, but with a patient still on the operating table, he couldn't abandon them. Having finally finished the surgery, he was planning to leave immediately to search for Elena and Harrison.
He hadn't expected to receive a call from Elena right after getting off the operating table.
"Nathan, I'll talk, and you listen. I've run into some trouble and need your help."
"Don't tell anyone about this, okay? I'm sending you an address now. Come find me at this address. Remember, you must not reveal my location."
"Also, let Charlotte know to keep arranging people to search for Harrison and me. I want to find whoever planned this incident."
Nathan nodded. "Yes, Elena, I'll do exactly as you say!"
Soon, Nathan received the address Elena sent to his phone. He changed clothes, got in his car, and headed straight there.
At a residential house, Nathan saw Elena.
She was wearing clothes that didn't fit her at all. When she saw Nathan arrive, without a word, she grabbed him and ran into the house.
As Nathan ran, he asked, "Elena, I heard from Charlotte that you and Mr. Frost fell from Silver Willow River Bridge."
"Wait, let me check your injuries first."
Elena replied, "My injuries don't matter. Harrison's condition is serious. Nathan, he might have injured a major internal organ when he fell into the water."
"I'm injured too, and with limited resources, I might not be able to save him. Help me save him, okay?"
As they spoke, Elena and Nathan reached a shabby room. Inside was a simple, small bed where Harrison lay.
His eyes were closed, his face pale, and his overall condition looked quite bad.
Just from his appearance, with scattered wounds and dried blood, Nathan, as a medical professional, knew clearly how serious Harrison's condition was.
"Elena, he needs to go to the hospital. If he's not treated in time, his life could be in danger."
With just one look, Nathan made his assessment.
Hearing Nathan's words, Elena's eyes showed a flash of panic. Without hesitation, she nodded, "Okay, take him to the hospital. Right now."
