Chapter 305 Where Do You Want to Go?
Chapter 305 Where Do You Want to Go?
Scarlett froze for a moment. When she came to her senses, she whipped around and forcefully shoved the person behind her, shouting at him angrily.
"I told you, don't touch me! Keep your fake concern to yourself!"
When she needed him most, his care and love were always absent.
Any concern after the fact was simply too little, too late.
"Scarlett, don't get so worked up. It's me."
Scarlett's vision blurred. Hearing the man's voice, she wiped away her tears roughly and looked up.
He stood not far away, tall and refined, wearing silver-rimmed glasses, with concern written all over his face.
It wasn't Daniel, but Ramon.
Scarlett froze in surprise, then quickly turned her face away. She felt embarrassed and was about to wipe her face, but Ramon stepped forward and handed her a handkerchief.
Scarlett paused before taking it, keeping her head down as she wiped her face. Sensing her embarrassment, Ramon spoke first.
"Scarlett, I'm sorry. I had two surgeries and only just learned about the accident."
He sighed softly and reached out his hand. "Let me help you back to your room."
Scarlett looked up, her expression already returning to normal. She shook her head with a slight smile.
"It's fine. I can walk on my own."
But when she took a step, her legs suddenly gave out and she nearly fell.
Ramon quickly caught her. Just then, a familiar female voice called out.
"Scarlett? What's going on here?"
At the sound of the voice, Scarlett's eyes filled with disgust.
Scarlett looked up and, sure enough, it was Waverly.
Waverly wore a red suit dress with a black silk scarf around her neck, her makeup was bright. She stood a few steps away with a servant.
Her gaze swept over Scarlett and Ramon, her eyes filled with suspicion.
Waverly seemed to be implying that Scarlett was behaving improperly.
Scarlett withdrew her gaze coldly. "Ramon, let's go."
But Waverly blocked their path. "Scarlett, don't rush off. Won't you introduce this gentleman?"
"There's no need."
Scarlett said coldly as she moved to the side.
But Waverly stepped forward again, blocking her way.
"Scarlett, you probably don't know this yet, but Alice gave birth that night too. She had a C-section and delivered a boy. He was born prematurely and was very small, so they transferred him to this hospital. He's in the incubator right here. Let me take you to see him."
As Waverly spoke, ignoring Scarlett's reaction, she reached out and grabbed Scarlett's hand.
Scarlett had asked Daniel before whether Alice had given birth.
And Daniel had answered. So Alice had successfully delivered a baby boy.
Thinking about how her own Bunny was also a boy, but not so lucky, Scarlett felt as if her heart were being cut with a knife.
She felt the pain slowly turn into hatred. She violently shook off Waverly's hand.
"Get away from me!"
Waverly cried out and stumbled back two steps. Leaning against the wall, she looked at Scarlett in shock, her eyes reddened.
"Scarlett, I meant well. You lost your baby, so seeing and holding other babies might bring you some comfort. Or are you still angry that Daniel went to Hampton Villa that night? I'm sorry. That night, I was the one who called and begged Daniel to come over. If I had known you would have such an accident, I never would have done that..."
Scarlett's emotions had reached their breaking point as she listened to Waverly's endless chatter.
Scarlett felt as if ten thousand flies were buzzing around her. Using all her strength, she slapped Waverly hard across the face.
A sharp slapping sound echoed through the corridor.
Waverly fell to the ground, covering her face as a clear handprint appeared on her cheek.
"Scarlett, I was trying to help you, to explain things to you. How could you do this?"
Scarlett's fingers trembled slightly. She didn't want to waste another word on Waverly.
Scarlett didn't want to watch Waverly's performance anymore. Clenching her fists, she ignored Waverly and walked away.
The servant helped Waverly to her feet. She still wanted to continue pestering them, but Ramon raised his hand to stop her.
"Ms. White, I've recorded everything you just said. Whether it was well-intentioned or deliberately provocative, do I need to play it for Mr. Wilson so he can judge for himself?"
Waverly stopped in her tracks. When she saw the phone in Ramon's hand, her expression darkened.
Back in the hospital room, Ramon poured Scarlett a glass of water. Seeing her slightly reddened eyes, he advised her.
"You shouldn't cry right now."
Scarlett took a sip of water. "Ramon, I know. I'll control myself."
Ramon didn't press the matter further. He changed the subject and chatted with Scarlett for a while about other things. He brought up Vivienne and the idea of going abroad, asking Scarlett what her plans were.
"Scarlett, Vivienne finished her world tour a while ago and has gone back to teaching. You two have stayed in touch, right?"
Scarlett had indeed kept in touch with Vivienne. She would often send videos of herself dancing to Vivienne's email.
Vivienne would reply every few days with comments and say she looked forward to Scarlett coming to study.
Scarlett had originally planned to continue her studies abroad once the baby was a little older, but now that the baby was suddenly gone, she couldn't control her emotions and hadn't had time to think about it.
"Scarlett, you should go study abroad. A change of scenery might help. It could help you forget everything about Shadow City as quickly as possible. Your stage will be much bigger. If you decide to go, I'll arrange everything for you..."
He urged her with concern, but Scarlett gently interrupted him.
"Ramon, thank you for your kindness. I'll think it over."
But right now, she really wasn't in the right state of mind.
Scarlett couldn't shake the feeling that her Bunny was still here, that he had never truly left this place.
For some reason, she didn't want to leave Shadow City and go abroad right now. It felt like if she did, Bunny would truly have no trace left at all.
Ramon probably hadn't expected her to refuse his suggestion. His hand paused as he peeled a longan.
He looked up, the light reflecting off his lenses hiding the complex emotions in his eyes.
He wanted to ask if the reason she refused to leave was that she still had feelings for Daniel.
But the next second, Scarlett looked at Ramon and asked, "Ramon, I want to transfer to your hospital instead. Do you have any beds available there?"
Scarlett didn't want to stay at this hospital anymore. The White family was here, and if she ran into them today, she'd run into them again sooner or later.
Daniel was here too. At this hospital, she'd have no peace.
"I'll ask for you." Ramon handed Scarlett the peeled longan, a slight smile on his face.
Scarlett took the longan. "That would be great, Ramon. If it's convenient, I'd like to transfer right away."
Ramon nodded and stood up, taking his phone with him as he stepped outside. He returned shortly after.
"Scarlett, I've already made the arrangements. I'll go handle your discharge paperwork. I'll have a nurse come and help you pack up. I've called for a car. It'll be here soon."
Scarlett nodded. Ramon went out, and soon a nurse came in to help her pack her things and put on her hat and coat.
Scarlett was helped downstairs by the nurse. Sure enough, a van pulled up and stopped right in front of the hospital building.
The driver got out, took the bag from the nurse, and said, "Ms. Lewis? Please get in."
The nurse helped Scarlett down the steps and to the car. The driver opened the door, and Scarlett got in with her head down.
The door closed, and the driver returned to the driver's seat before driving off.
Scarlett leaned back in her seat, closed her eyes, and slowly exhaled. But then she caught a faint, familiar scent lingering in the car.
She suddenly opened her eyes and turned to look toward the back seat. At the same time, a man's deep voice sounded from behind her, heavy and low.
"Scarlett, where are you trying to go now?"
