Chapter 87 87
"You can take time to decide on one of the options to take. But I will advise not to take too long in making the decision. After which, we may proceed. In case I am not on duty when you make the decision. Your attending physician can make the surgery appointment." Brooke explained to a patient in her office, after giving him options for his surgery.
"Ok, Doctor. Thank you for the enlightenment. I will get back to the hospital as soon as possible." The patient said before getting up from his seat. "Have a good evening, doctor." He added before walking out of Brooke's office.
"All the best." Brooke called after.
Seconds after the patient left, a knock came on the door before a nurse walked in. She looked hesitant before speaking.
"Uhh... Doctor Bee, you have one more patient." The nurse reported.
With a knitted brow, Brooke asked. "I thought you said he was the last one." She referred to the patient that left.
"Umm .... Yes. I thought. But umm this one came in after him and he is requesting for two hours of your time." The nurse said. Still looking nervous.
Brooke has had patience asking for extra hours. That depends on how they are feeling or what they want to discuss. Pertaining to their health issues or solutions to their problems.
Brooke however, ignored the nurses strange behavior and asked her to let the patient in. She was quick to walk away. But soon came back with bags of what seems to be food.
With a raised brow, Brooke gave her a questionable look. The nurse laughed nervously and scratched the back of her head with her free hand. She quickly dropped the bags and stepped out of the office too quickly.
This is not the first time that a patient came with such a gesture of bringing her meal. Some act to be considerate, while others have a different mission at heart. She wonders who it could be this time around and what their intention was.
While she was still having those thoughts, the person walked in, carrying a bouquet of roses. Since four days ago, he has been sending roses to her office. That has somehow got her some attention from the people at the hospital.
It seems that wasn't enough for him. Now he is showing up with more roses. In his other free hand, he had an expensive looking bottle of champagne.
Brooke sighed in defeat and shook her head. "Of course." She said, wondering why she didn't think it would be Nathan Leo , who came to her office and acted to be a patient.
She also understood that the nurse was in on it with Nathan. That was the reason for her behavior in a strange way. She re-entered with a bucket of ice.
Brooke's mouth was agape as she watched them with round eyes.
The nurse dropped the content in her hand and quickly walked out of the office. A smile was evident on her face.
"Doctor Bee, good evening. I hope you don't mind that I brought dinner with me. I haven't heard anything today yet and I am starving." Nathan said. "And my condition might take a long time to discuss." He added before getting a seat opposite of Brooke and sat.
Brooke still couldn't find the words to say. She continued to glare at him.
Nathan ignored that. He began to start unboxing the food items from the bags. "I have things I've known you like. I hope you still like them." Nathan said.
Brooke kept looking at the content on the table. Her stomach growled at that moment.
Nathan chuckled a little. "So Doctor, can we have our dinner before we discuss my condition? He asked.
Brooke could clearly see how some of her colleagues were looking their way. Through the glass wall of her office. The office is not sound proof either. So she was sure that they could hear their voices. They could comprehend some of their conversation.
"Mr Leo , what are all these? What are you doing?" Brooke asked. If he was going to act like a patient, she decided to treat him like one. This happened with the help of the nurses assisting her. She could clearly see her holding back her giggles by covering her mouth. While she peeks at them from the side of the glass door. It is visible from her table.
"I want to get advice from you, doctor. But I want you to first have a good meal. I know you have been working for a while now. Probably haven't had lunch all together. After that, we can discuss my health." Nathan explained.
Brooke couldn't help but salivate. It is clear that Nathan set a trap for her that she can't escape. First of all, he was right. He hasn't had lunch because she couldn't find the time and it is time for dinner already. Seeing her favorites laid before her made her realize she was hungry. Her stomach growls again.
Nathan looked at her and smiled again. He pushed a plate of salad as a starter to her. He pulled his own closer as well and began to eat. He gestured to Brooke to eat too.
Her stomach growled for the third time. She felt betrayed by her own organ. Her stomach was not cooperating with her at all. She groaned and reached for the plate of salad and began to eat as well. For some reason, it tasted better than usual. She believes it's because she is hungry.
They ate their grease in silence. They were half into it when Brooke decided to speak up. "So, Mr Leo , since you paid for my time as your consultant, what seems to be the problem?"
Nathan finished the last bite of his salad and wiped his mouth with a napkin. "Yes, doctor. Like I said, I need your professional help on something that is bothering me." He asserted.
Brooke gave her attention to him, after she was done with her own salad. "I am listening, Mr Leo." She said,
