Chapter 76 Little Lazybones
Flynn frowned and knocked harder on the door.
Still, there was no sound from inside.
He pressed his ear against the door, and panic set in instantly.
Isabella had a congenital heart condition—could she have had an attack?
Flynn, in a rush, kicked the door open and saw Isabella lying on the bed.
She looked utterly frail.
"Isabella!" Flynn hurried to her side, grabbing her cold wrist with worry and fear in his eyes.
"Isabella, what's wrong? Are you having an attack? Don't scare me!"
Isabella weakly opened her eyes. "Flynn, I don't feel well. My head hurts so much…"
Flynn was at a loss, not knowing what to do. "Wait here, I'll call the doctor right away."
Flynn quickly pulled out his phone, his hands trembling with urgency.
His mind was blank, focused only on getting the doctor on the line.
In his haste, he missed the fleeting panic in Isabella's eyes.
Soon, the family doctor arrived and conducted a thorough examination of Isabella.
Two hours later, the doctor emerged from the room.
Flynn, waiting anxiously outside, rushed over. "Doctor, how's my sister? Is it her heart?"
The doctor was silent for a moment before slowly shaking his head. "The tests show Ms. Brown is fine, no issues. She might just be physically weak from stress. Some rest and good nutrition should help."
Flynn let out a huge sigh of relief and quickly went back into the room. "Isabella, thank goodness you're okay. If anything happened to you while Mom and Dad are away, they'd never forgive me!"
Hayden, was on a business trip, and their mom, Olivia, was out shopping with friends. It was just Flynn and Isabella at home.
Seeing Isabella was fine; Flynn's tense nerves finally relaxed.
Outside, the doctor shook his head, keeping his doubts to himself.
Isabella was supposedly fine.
The Brown family took good care of Isabella, so her congenital heart condition shouldn't be life-threatening.
But today, Isabella looked as if she might pass out any second.
Yet the tests showed nothing wrong.
What was going on?
The doctor left the Brown Villa, puzzled.
After he left, Isabella looked apologetically at Flynn. "Sorry, Flynn, I didn't expect to get sick again. Weren't we supposed to go to the White Manor?"
She started to get up, but Flynn quickly stopped her, scolding softly, "You're in no shape to go anywhere. Rest up. I'll handle it."
"Thank you, Flynn. You're so good to me." Isabella's weak face lit up with a faint smile.
Flynn's heart softened, and he ruffled her hair. "Silly girl. You're my only sister…"
Halfway through his sentence, Flynn's expression changed.
He had said this countless times in the nineteen years since Sophia went missing.
But now, he realized he might not have just one sister.
Awkwardly, Flynn pulled his hand back. "Get some rest. I'll go see Sophia at the White Manor."
With that, Flynn left without looking back.
After he left, Isabella sat up in bed.
Her previously pale and weak face now bore a smug smile.
'Going to the White Manor to beg Sophia? No way! That little brat had no right!' Isabella cursed in her head.
Sophia, backed by the White family, thought she could do whatever she wanted, even call the cops on her fans?
Soon enough, the White family would regret marrying such a malicious and disgraceful woman!
With that thought, a gleeful and vengeful glint flashed in Isabella's eyes.
At the White Manor.
Enjoying a rare weekend off from the lab, Sophia was sleeping in, refusing to get up no matter who called her.
Benjamin watched her roll around in bed, a doting smile on his lips. "You little lazybones."
"What do you want?" Sophia grumbled, turning her back to Benjamin and falling back into a deep sleep.
When she woke up again, it was already 11:30 AM.
Benjamin had long since gone to work.
Sophia lazily got out of bed, rubbing her sleepy eyes and yawning.
Emma knocked and entered, seeing Sophia awake. "Mrs. White, someone's here to see you. He says he's your brother."
"Brother?" Sophia looked at Emma, puzzled.
Could it be Matthew?
Sophia felt a sudden nervousness.
Emma frowned, thinking for a moment. "I think his last name is Brown."
Someone from the Brown family?
Sophia raised an eyebrow, a knowing look in her eyes.
"Did he come alone?" she asked.
"Yes, just him."
Sophia quickly freshened up, changed into a simple outfit, and headed downstairs.
Flynn was nervously waiting in the grand living room.
The White Manor was far more impressive than the Brown Villa.
Every piece of decor was worth a fortune.
Flynn realized for the first time the vast gap between top-tier and ordinary wealthy families.
After a while, he heard footsteps behind him.
Turning, he saw Sophia gracefully descending the stairs.
Last time, he hadn't had a chance to really look at her. He hadn't realized how beautiful she was.
When she was first brought back to the Brown Villa, Sophia wore a simple white dress, her clear eyes curiously taking in everything around her.
It was as if she was seeing many things for the first time, always showing a look of surprise and curiosity.
So, many people assumed Sophia was an unsophisticated country girl.
Flynn had been one of them.
But now, there was something different about her.
In another simple dress, she seemed even more elegant, her figure perfectly highlighted.
There was an unworldly air about her, making people hesitant to approach.
Sophia reached the living room, tilting her head as she studied the man before her.
Though they had just met a few days ago, Flynn now seemed more defeated.
It seemed that what she had said had deeply affected him.
Sophia smiled slightly and sat on the couch across from Flynn.
"Are you here to see me?" she asked with a smile.
"I just wanted to ask you…"
"Isabella didn't come?" Sophia tilted her head, her eyes fixed on Flynn.
Flynn looked away, feeling guilty. "Isabella was supposed to come, but she wasn't feeling well, so I came alone."
"You're here about Isabella's fans, right?" Sophia's eyes widened with realization, her clear eyes staring straight at Flynn.
