Chapter 73 Heath
"Alright, why are you getting so worked up? It's just a phone. If it wasn't bought, then it wasn't bought! Sophia is just ungrateful. Isabella was smart not to waste money on her," Olivia said, noticing Isabella's eyes filling with tears. She immediately felt a pang of sympathy and shot Flynn an angry glare.
"How am I worked up? I'm just stating the facts!" Flynn chuckled in frustration.
Olivia really spoiled Isabella to the extreme.
He used to take it for granted, but now he felt something was off.
Before Flynn could think more about it, Isabella interrupted his thoughts.
Isabella had a sudden idea and exclaimed, "Flynn, why don't we ask Dad to talk to the White family? Dad has more connections than we do; he could definitely get through to them!"
"I already asked Dad before we came. He said there's nothing he can do," Flynn sighed helplessly.
If someone else had reported it, there might have been a chance.
But it had to be the White family.
Even though the Brown family and the White family were in-laws in name, both families knew how that marriage came about.
And Benjamin's concern for Sophia was beyond anyone's expectations.
"So what do we do? Flynn, are you really going to just stand by and watch me fall apart?" Isabella was utterly distressed, tears streaming down her face.
If she had been putting on a show earlier, now she was truly crying.
"Isabella, don't worry. I'll call Heath in a bit."
The eldest son of the Brown Family, Heath, twenty-seven years old, cold in demeanor, and a successful CEO of a publicly traded company.
However, he had always been aloof and had moved out years ago, not being particularly close to the family.
Isabella's eyes lit up, "Yes, Heath adores me. He'll definitely help me!"
Nineteen years ago, when Sophia went missing, Heath was only six years old but old enough to remember.
Since then, Heath's personality had become increasingly gloomy, almost leading to depression.
When Isabella was brought into the Brown family, Heath transferred all his love for Sophia to her.
Even after Sophia was found, Heath's affection for Isabella didn't waver.
At the Novalume Group, Heath exited the meeting room after a conference, feeling his phone vibrate in his pocket.
He frowned, pulling out his phone.
Seeing the name of Isabella on the screen, his gaze softened.
He had been so busy with work that he hadn't been home in a while.
The last time he talked to Isabella was half a month ago.
Heath quickly answered the call, his eyes filled with warmth.
If any subordinates were around, they would see a stark contrast between this Heath and the cold, indifferent one in the meeting room.
"Isabella?"
"Heath..." Isabella's tearful voice came through the phone, making Heath's gaze sharpen.
"Isabella, what's wrong? Did Sophia bully you again?"
Isabella's sobbing paused for a second, then she recounted the events of the past two days, omitting certain details.
In Isabella's version, she was the complete victim.
And everything Sophia did was to get back at the Brown family.
Heath's face grew darker and darker. "Isabella, don't worry. Let me think of a plan. I promise I won't let you suffer for nothing."
After hanging up, Heath fell silent.
The Brown family had three sons in a row, so Hayden and Olivia always hoped for a daughter.
Sophia was born amidst their high expectations.
When Heath found out he had a sister, he was thrilled.
He wanted to be with her all the time, not even leaving for meals or sleep.
He was scared she might disappear if he looked away.
But no one expected that a year later, Sophia would indeed vanish.
At that time, Heath frantically searched everywhere for Sophia.
But he was just a child; if the police couldn't find her, how could he?
Day after day, Heath gradually lost hope.
Then, Hayden brought back a girl from an orphanage who was around Sophia's age and looked a bit like her.
From that moment, Heath transferred all his love to Isabella.
And Sophia...
Perhaps because she grew up without proper upbringing, her behavior was crude, and her personality was spoiled and domineering.
Even so, she constantly made life difficult for Isabella.
The joy of having his biological sister back gradually turned into disgust.
Heath often couldn't help but wish Isabella were his real sister.
Standing in the hallway, Heath's expression was somewhat sinister.
Just then, his assistant came out of the meeting room with some documents.
The assistant looked at Heath cautiously, "Mr. Brown, I've organized the information and documents you requested."
"Put them on my desk," Heath's voice was cold, his expression unreadable.
The assistant nodded and turned to leave.
But after taking just a couple of steps, he was called back. "Wait a minute."
"Mr. Brown, is there anything else?" The assistant looked at Heath in confusion.
Heath pressed his lips together tightly and slowly said, "Contact Benjamin for me. Tell him I want to discuss something."
"About Sophia," he added after a pause.
The assistant nodded respectfully and quickly left.
Not long after, Benjamin received a call from Chase.
"Mr. White, Heath from the Brown family wants to meet with you."
Benjamin stood by the floor-to-ceiling window in his study, looking out at the brightly lit skyscrapers.
His tall, slender figure exuded a cold, powerful aura that made people instinctively keep their distance.
Upon hearing Heath's name, Benjamin frowned, a trace of disdain flickering in his eyes. "Not interested."
Sophia had already severed ties with the Brown family.
If it wasn't for business, he had no reason to see them.
Chase hesitated for a moment, "Mr. White, he said it's about Mrs. White."
"Did he say what it's about?" Benjamin slowly turned around, his cold eyes gleaming with a frosty light.
Chase shook his head, "No. But I guess it has to do with the water-throwing incident."
"First, they used Sophia for business gains, and now they want to use the in-law connection to plead for Isabella. The Brown family... they really have some nerve," Benjamin sneered.
"So, should I turn him down?" Chase couldn't gauge Benjamin's intentions and asked cautiously.
"No need. I'm curious to see what Heath wants."
After Chase left, Benjamin's expression darkened, his eyes like frozen ice, and his aura even more intimidating.
A servant came in with a cup of coffee, suddenly feeling the oppressive atmosphere.
Noticing the cold figure by the window, a chill ran down the servant's spine. "Mr. White, your coffee."
