Chapter 524 Injured
After Sabrina and Benjamin parted ways, she went straight back to her office.
She sat at her desk, unable to settle her mind.
Benjamin was a dangerous person. Someone who could destroy the GeneCipher Society's foundation of over twenty years in one fell swoop was definitely not ordinary.
She wasn't afraid of being investigated, because all her information was real. No matter how others checked, everything was perfect.
What she needed to do now was calm down and establish herself at Harmony Hospital.
There was something here she wanted, but she had just arrived and hadn't had the chance to access the hospital's core team yet.
The only thing that surprised her was Sophia's appearance.
She had heard Sophia's name more than once. The first time was from Valentin, also known as Lachlan.
Later, Elijah also praised her highly, saying that with her around, their research would be twice as effective with half the effort.
Yesterday, when Sophia went to visit Francis, Francis also spoke very highly of Sophia.
She could clearly sense that when these people mentioned Sophia, their eyes would reveal admiring looks.
That kind of look was a desire and admiration for the strong, especially from Elijah and Lachlan. Beyond desire, there was also greed.
The kind of greed that wanted to possess that ability and talent for themselves.
Even she felt somewhat tempted. After all, who wouldn't want to become stronger?
This was also why they had been so obsessed all these years with trying to develop drugs that could alter genes.
Although Benjamin and Sophia had endured many years of pain, they still survived.
As long as you're alive, there's hope. Any amount of suffering is worth it.
Most importantly, if you want to gain something, you must pay the proper price.
If she had been the one injected with the drug back then, she would have gladly accepted it all. After all, who would give up a chance to change their fate?
The reason Alaric wouldn't even look at her back then was because she wasn't good enough, wasn't it?
If she stood high enough, if she was outstanding enough, she wouldn't need to go through so much trouble to get close to him.
Perhaps just by standing there, she could attract Alaric's attention.
While Sabrina was lost in these thoughts, a commotion suddenly came from outside. She snapped back to reality, immediately got up, opened the door, and walked out.
Outside was chaotic, with doctors and nurses hurrying toward the emergency room.
Sabrina immediately stopped a nurse and asked, "What happened? Why is it so chaotic?"
The nurse explained anxiously, "Someone from a nearby film crew fell while doing wire work. I heard they also injured people when they fell."
"Does that require so many people? Is it very serious?" Sabrina frowned. Should celebrities get special treatment when seeking medical care?
"The injuries are quite severe. Dr. Brown asked us to go over. I can't talk now, sorry." The nurse gave Sabrina an apologetic look, then hurried off.
Sophia...
Sabrina murmured the name, then curiously followed. She wanted to see what exactly Sophia was up to.
On the other side, Sophia rushed out immediately after receiving the notification.
Actually, ten minutes earlier, she had received a call from Joshua, saying someone from his crew was injured and asking if she had time to help treat them.
She had just finished seeing a patient and happened to be free, so she agreed right away.
She heard the injuries were very serious this time - two lead actors and several crew members were all injured.
One lead actor fell because the wire rope broke, while the other lead actor was purely collateral damage.
When that actor fell, he happened to be right below and was forced to be a cushion.
The other crew members were injured because when they rushed to help, they accidentally kicked a cable on the ground, causing a short circuit.
They must have touched something, because the equipment actually caught fire.
Several staff members had varying degrees of burns.
When she saw who was brought in, Sophia couldn't help but twitch her lips, "How is it you again?"
The two lead actors lying on the beds were none other than Isolde and Sawyer.
The movie Joshua was shooting this time was filmed in a studio. It was a sci-fi-themed film where many backgrounds needed post-production special effects, so they didn't need to scout locations.
Sophia never expected that two years later, she would see them injured from filming again.
And they were in the same director's work too.
When they saw Sophia, both Sawyer's and Isolde's eyes lit up. Sawyer didn't dare speak, just silently looked at her with hopeful eyes.
Isolde pitifully opened her arms, her eyes wet, looking like she wanted to cry on Sophia's shoulder.
"Sophia, I'm in so much pain!"
Sawyer quietly complained, "I'm in more pain, okay? When you fell, you landed right on me. My leg is almost broken from your weight."
Sophia reached out and touched Isolde's head, giving her a full examination and finding she was indeed fine.
Sawyer's injuries were quite serious. When Isolde fell from high up, the impact force was very strong.
Just as he said, his leg was crushed by Isolde, and there was still some blood in his chest that hadn't been coughed up.
Sophia leaned in to examine him carefully, "Are you uncomfortable anywhere else?"
Sawyer stared at Sophia without blinking. His body was extremely stiff. He was afraid that if he moved even slightly, Sophia would immediately pull away.
Looking at Sophia's face so close to him, his nose felt sour.
Two years - it had been two years since he and Sophia had seen each other. During these two years, they had been living with guilt about Sophia.
They knew very clearly that Sophia cut ties with the Brown family and resolutely chose to leave because she was deeply hurt.
And every single person in the Brown family couldn't escape responsibility for that.
So they never dared hope for Sophia's forgiveness, only hoping she wouldn't be so resistant to them anymore.
