Chapter 523: Twin Sisters
Based on the information Chase dug up, Odette was an orphan who grew up in an orphanage and was later adopted by a childless couple.
But after that family had a son of their own, they started treating Odette badly, criticizing and beating her, which gradually shaped her into someone gentle and timid.
Logically speaking, in Odette's eyes, she should have seen education as a way to escape her fate. How could she drop out of school so easily? And for her so-called family, no less.
Benjamin checked the time and found that Odette had dropped out eight years ago.
As far as she knew, Sabrina had grown up with Lachlan since childhood.
Lachlan had adopted her from an orphanage and had been carefully raising her ever since.
After leaving the GeneCipher Society, Sabrina lived like a normal child, going to school and studying.
When she returned to the GeneCipher Society, she underwent harsh training, enduring inhuman torture, day after day, for over a decade. She had never experienced anything like dropping out of school.
Because Lachlan would never allow such a thing to happen.
If this information was really fake, it was too perfect. Besides, Sabrina was typically bright and cheerful on the surface but ruthless in her methods. She did everything with a purpose.
Benjamin opened his computer and searched for the orphanage mentioned in the file, discovering that it was located right in Silverlight City.
He sent Alaric the personal information about Odette from the file: "Do you know her?"
Alaric quickly replied: "She looks familiar, but I don't really remember."
Benjamin sent several photos. In them, Odette's eyes curved into crescents when she smiled, her features delicate and pretty, her eyes clear and bright.
Her smile was infectious, like warm winter sunshine, as if it could light up someone's heart.
Odette and Sabrina clearly had the same appearance, but they were completely different types of women.
So Benjamin could basically confirm that perhaps Sabrina had a twin sister.
The person adopted by Lachlan was indeed Sabrina.
But now, Sabrina was using Odette's background. So where was the real Odette?
Far away in Silverlight City, Alaric opened the pictures. He looked carefully, and the more he looked, the more familiar she seemed. His heart suddenly skipped a beat.
But he still couldn't remember who this woman was.
Benjamin wasn't surprised by Alaric's answer. He just couldn't figure out why Sabrina would know Alaric.
Benjamin thought for a moment and asked again: "Do you know Sabrina?"
Alaric: "...No memory of her."
"What about Odette?"
Alaric's brow furrowed into a knot: "Still no memory. What are you trying to ask? Should this woman be connected to me somehow?"
Benjamin was speechless. He irritably tossed the photos aside and leaned back in his chair.
He looked up at the ceiling, and suddenly had a flash of inspiration. He jumped up from his chair.
He hurriedly picked up the photos to examine them carefully, and a terrible guess suddenly formed in his mind.
He immediately video-called Alaric, and before the other person could speak, he asked first: "Where's Emilio?"
"He went to school. He's seven years old and never even went to kindergarten, so I put him straight into elementary school." Alaric explained helplessly.
Fortunately, Emilio was very smart with strong learning abilities.
Especially with numbers—Emilio had a sharp sense for them. A couple of days ago, Alaric had spent only an hour in the evening teaching Emilio basic arithmetic. Alaric hadn't expected much from Emilio's ability to master basic math.
Alaric hadn't expected Emilio to be so smart.
If Emilio hadn't been abandoned but had been cherished and raised properly, he would definitely have become an outstanding child.
But it wasn't too late now.
However, Alaric's resentment toward Emilio's biological mother deepened.
Since Emilio's biological mother chose to give birth to him, she should have taken on a mother's responsibilities.
Even if she didn't want to raise him or couldn't afford to, she could have come to him.
No matter how Emilio came to be, as his biological father, he wouldn't have completely ignored Emilio.
What was the point of giving birth to Emilio only to abandon him?
He really couldn't understand or accept this.
Benjamin said again: "Send me Emilio's photos, right now."
Alaric didn't understand why, but searched through his phone and realized he hadn't saved any photos of Emilio.
The men of the White family weren't very good at expressing their emotions.
Unless they were facing their wives.
Benjamin and Preston were typical examples.
Magnus was the same when he was young.
However, Magnus now had no interest in romance. Even though some misunderstandings had been cleared up, he and Amelia still couldn't go back to how things were.
Alaric shook his head helplessly and called Preston.
Preston was getting older and loved children.
The first thing he did every morning was go see Emilio.
When Emilio came home from school in the evening, Preston immediately had food and drinks prepared, afraid Emilio might be hungry.
Alaric felt helpless.
When Preston had dealt with his grandsons back then, he hadn't been this enthusiastic.
As people got older, their personalities really did become more childlike.
When Preston heard that Benjamin wanted photos of Emilio, he immediately agreed.
His phone gallery was full of Emilio's photos.
He carefully selected several. The more he looked, the more he thought Emilio was really good-looking.
He sighed: "I wonder if Benjamin and Sophia's child will be a boy or a girl. I hope it's a girl."
Three generations of the White family had all been boys.
If Sophia could give him a great-granddaughter, he'd have no regrets.
Hearing this, Finn couldn't help but laugh: "Mr. Preston White, you better not let Mr. Benjamin White hear you say that."
Preston snorted coldly, "What's there to be afraid of? He's probably even more eager than I am for Sophia to have a daughter!"
He had raised Benjamin himself—he understood Benjamin better than anyone!
