Chapter 522: Sabrina
Odette followed Benjamin out of the hospital entrance, but his car was still parked there with no one inside.
She froze for a moment, then heard a low, indifferent voice behind her, "Are you looking for me?"
Odette spun around to find Benjamin leaning against the hospital wall, his posture lazy yet radiating an unapproachable aura.
"You knew I was following you?"
"Is that hard to figure out?" Benjamin raised an eyebrow.
Odette cursed herself silently. Everyone who'd gone through special training at GeneCipher Society knew that staying alert at all times was basic training.
Since she'd been caught, she decided to just go for it. "Were you waiting for me on purpose?"
Benjamin smiled. "Weren't you the one looking for me?"
His gaze fell on the name tag on her chest, and his smile deepened. "Weren't you called Sabrina Chambers? When did you change your name?"
Back when Lachlan was still Valentin, he had three people closest to him. The oldest man was dead, and the other two were him and Sabrina.
He'd thought Sabrina had been arrested by the police, too. He never expected to run into her here.
Sabrina's pupils contracted. She instinctively covered the name tag on her chest, her eyes full of wariness. "We still haven't gotten to the bottom of your betrayal of GeneCipher Society. I'd advise you not to talk nonsense."
Benjamin's smile faded as he narrowed his eyes slightly. "Most of the people in GeneCipher Society have been arrested. How did you escape?"
His eyes were sharp and piercing. Sabrina sneered coldly. "That's none of your business. And GeneCipher Society will never disappear, never!"
Watching her almost crazed expression, Benjamin fell into thought.
He'd originally thought that once GeneCipher Society was destroyed and all those drugs were eliminated, it would all be over.
But he'd overlooked the most important thing—the human heart.
Even if GeneCipher Society was gone, as long as human greed and desire remained, this kind of research would never stop.
Sabrina moved closer with a light laugh, leaning in to whisper in Benjamin's ear. "You can't arrest me. All the member information from GeneCipher Society has been destroyed now. You have no evidence."
Benjamin looked down, as if brewing anger. "If you don't want people to know, don't do it. Just because I don't have evidence now doesn't mean I won't later."
"Can you bear to? Haven't you ever thought about becoming someone above everyone else? Your wife is the perfect weapon—a gift from heaven."
Sabrina's smile deepened, her red lips gorgeous, her eyes flowing with charm.
She was already looking beautiful, and with this smile, the seductiveness in her bones could no longer be hidden, almost impossible to look away from.
Benjamin glanced at her coolly, his expression unchanged.
"With my status and wealth, do I need to do those things? I'm warning you, don't get any ideas about Sophia, or don't blame me for not being polite."
Sabrina pushed further, moving closer. "I'd really like to know just how impolite you plan to be with me."
Benjamin shoved her away. He stepped back half a step in disgust, putting distance between them.
"Stop making that expression. It's ugly."
He never showed mercy when dealing with women other than Sophia.
Besides, he had no good feelings toward Sabrina. She was a lunatic who would stop at nothing to achieve her goals.
During those two years at GeneCipher Society, he'd dealt with Sabrina plenty. She'd been by Lachlan's side for a long time and was deeply influenced by him.
Benjamin couldn't be bothered to waste words with her and turned to leave.
For the first time in her life, Sabrina had been called ugly. The smile froze on her face, her eyes full of disbelief.
She was recognized as a beauty. Back in school, she'd been pursued by countless people.
But she'd never been interested in those ordinary men. Only Alaric, who was a year ahead of her, was attractive enough to catch her attention.
What a shame.
A dark gleam flashed in Sabrina's eyes. She smoothed her clothes. "You really are just like your brother."
Just as slow, just as clueless about romance.
Sabrina suddenly felt bored and turned to leave.
She was confident Benjamin would never tell the truth. And even if he did, she wasn't afraid.
After all, he had no evidence now. So what if people knew she was connected to GeneCipher Society?
Her hands had never touched those drugs.
Benjamin watched her retreating figure, his brow furrowing unconsciously.
What did Sabrina mean? Why did she mention Alaric? Did they know each other?
He took a deep breath and called Chase. "Look into Odette at Harmony Hospital. Get all her information and send it to my email."
After hanging up, Benjamin drove straight back to the company.
Over an hour later, Chase sent Odette's information.
Benjamin opened it and found it contained Odette's complete history.
From her birth to school to high school graduation—she had excellent grades, a gentle personality, completely different from the Sabrina he knew.
In her freshman year of college, something seemed to have happened to Odette's family, and then she dropped out.
