Chapter 484 Self-Torture
Sophia was the only person he had ever met who didn't curse at them or inject them with poison.
She even helped treat their illnesses and cared about whether they were in pain or hungry.
Sophia reached out and gently ruffled his hair, softly comforting him: "It's okay, I'll get you out of here."
"Really?" A glimmer of hope appeared in Emilio's eyes, but it quickly faded.
"They said... once you're in here, there's no way out. Did they capture you, too?"
Sophia nodded: "Yes, but they won't hurt me for now. And I won't let them inject you with poison anymore."
She believed Benjamin would find her.
For now, she just needed to buy as much time as possible.
Ivan and the others quickly brought over the food Sophia had requested. "Just figure out what to do with this stuff yourself."
With that, he turned and left the room.
They couldn't cook, let alone prepare formula.
But Sophia hadn't planned on counting on them anyway. She got up and took out the ingredients and formula, saying to Emilio, "You all wait here for me. I'll go make you something to eat."
Since getting pregnant, she'd had nothing to do at home, so she'd studied a lot about how to take care of children.
That included how to prepare the formula.
As for cooking... she wasn't good at it. In fact, her food was pretty terrible.
But having food was better than nothing.
Those people were ridiculous, not even knowing to bring some ready-to-eat food.
Sophia went into the kitchen, boiled some water, found a clean cup, and let the water cool.
When the water reached the right temperature, she started preparing the formula.
Since these children were so weak, they probably couldn't even eat solid food, so Sophia had them buy several extra bottles.
Looking at the empty kitchen with only a kettle, Sophia couldn't help but sigh.
She walked out and said to the guards, "Do you want us to eat raw food? Go to Harvest & Hearth and get some easily digestible things."
"Harvest & Hearth? You really know how to enjoy yourself."
"Yeah, if you have money, you should enjoy it. Who knows when you might die? Lachlan's Harvest & Hearth membership hasn't expired, has it?"
As everyone knew, Harvest & Hearth required reservations.
Every member of the White family had an exclusive membership at Harvest & Hearth, and Lachlan was no exception.
But now, everyone in the White family knew about his evil deeds.
The guard frowned. "You're trying to use Harvest & Hearth to tip off the White family, aren't you?"
"If you don't want to buy it, fine. If I starve to death, you won't have anyone to experiment on!"
Sophia crossed her arms, putting on a self-destructive attitude.
The guards looked at each other, frowning.
They immediately called Lachlan, but found no one answered.
This made them even more conflicted.
Lachlan had paid a heavy price for the experiments and had specifically instructed them to meet Sophia's requests as much as possible.
But Harvest & Hearth was the White family's business...
Sophia sneered: "I don't even know where I am right now. How would I tip anyone off?"
The guard thought about it and realized she had a point.
When Sophia arrived, they'd been very careful, not only covering her eyes but also driving around Silverlight City several times.
They exchanged glances and nodded. "Fine, what dishes do you want?"
Sophia listed several dishes, all very nourishing and easily digestible foods.
Those children hadn't eaten in a long time, so her choices made sense.
The guard nodded and left.
Sophia watched him leave, then quickly looked away.
Outside, Benjamin was going crazy. He'd sent out every available person.
He'd even contacted Thaddeus to pull up surveillance footage from that road.
But they'd been prepared - the surveillance footage was destroyed.
Even the best computer experts couldn't recover it.
When Eldon regretfully shook his head at him, he felt like the sky was falling.
He couldn't imagine what Sophia would face after being taken by Lachlan.
"Search! Keep searching!"
Even if they had to turn all of Silverlight City upside down, they had to find Lachlan's hiding place.
Benjamin wasn't idle either. He drove back to the area near the airport.
This was where Lachlan's car had disappeared.
But he'd been stuck in traffic then and hadn't noticed which direction their car went.
He carefully recalled the situation, his head nearly exploding.
He rubbed his temples, his fist slamming hard on the steering wheel, wishing he could have been taken by Lachlan instead of Sophia.
Suddenly, he remembered something and immediately called Thaddeus.
He'd recalled the license plates of a few of the cars.
There had been too many vehicles at the time, about five or six cars, constantly switching positions.
So he had no idea which car Sophia was in.
Now he could only leave it to fate.
Having a lead was better than nothing.
He slumped over the steering wheel as his stomach suddenly cramped.
He hadn't eaten anything since Sophia was taken.
His injured arm was also throbbing.
His nerves were on edge, all his thoughts focused on finding Sophia, with no attention for anything else.
Under Sophia's careful care, his stomach problems had improved a lot.
But now, his stomach was starting to hurt again.
He frowned in pain, his hands clenched into tight fists.
There was medicine Sophia had prepared for him in his suit pocket, but he didn't want to take it.
Only by feeling the pain in his body did he feel alive.
This self-destructive thought wasn't new, but before, with Sophia by his side, he'd restrained himself.
But now, all his crazy, violent thoughts came flooding out.
He wanted to find Lachlan immediately and tear him to pieces!
Thaddeus's investigation would take time, and the people Chase sent out were still searching for Sophia.
Benjamin couldn't do anything but wait quietly, every minute and second torture.
He'd never felt time move so slowly.
Cold sweat quickly appeared on his forehead, and his eyes somehow became moist.
Then a phone ringtone pulled him back from his thoughts.
Benjamin glanced at the caller ID on his phone screen and hung up without thinking.
It was someone from Harvest & Hearth.
He didn't have the time or energy to deal with Harvest & Hearth matters right now.
If the Harvest & Hearth people couldn't reach him, they'd naturally contact Alaric.
Now, many things at the White Group were being handled by Alaric, and he didn't feel guilty about it at all.
But soon, the Harvest & Hearth people called again.
Benjamin answered, saying impatiently: "This better really be important!"
Conrad Wall, the person in charge of Harvest & Hearth, couldn't help but shrink back hearing Benjamin's murderous voice.
"Mr. White... I have urgent business! It's about Mrs. White!"
