Chapter 335 Preparing a Birthday Gift
"Mr. White, what did Ms. Martinez say to you?" Chase asked tentatively.
He had no idea what Amelia was thinking. She'd never gotten anything good from Finnley, yet she just wouldn't give up.
Amelia kept coming back again and again, only to humiliate herself in the end, didn't she?
Finnley glanced at him sideways. "Want to know?"
Chase felt goosebumps all over his body and quickly shook his head. "No! Just pretend I didn't say anything!"
"Have someone look into whether Amelia and Elijah are in contact privately. Focus on finding out how they usually get in touch."
"Okay." Chase silently noted this down, feeling more concerned.
With matters settled, Finnley was about to leave. But just as he was about to push open the car door, he heard Chase behind him say, "Mr. White, Mrs. White's birthday is coming up. Have you prepared a gift?"
His hand on the door handle paused, then withdrew.
"How did she usually spend her birthdays before?"
He had no memory of these things at all. Sophia's records were well protected, and much of what he knew was pieced together from whatever information he could find.
But there was nothing about celebrating Sophia's birthday.
"Before... there wasn't time. After Mrs. White came to the White family, she was always busy running around, working day and night to cure the poison in your body."
Finnley leaned against the passenger seat backrest, quietly listening to Chase's words, feeling a dense, spreading ache in his heart.
His past self seemed to have been quite a jerk.
As Chase spoke, he observed Finnley's expression, finally adding, "Perhaps because she was abandoned herself, she really cares about other people's feelings. She was especially good to you, no matter the cost."
Chase used treating his illness as an example.
When he heard that Sophia had used medicine originally saved for her own life to treat him, his heart ached even more.
What had Sophia been through before?
And his past self had just accepted it all so calmly?
How could he have been worthy of Sophia's kindness?
At this moment, Finnley only felt a sourness in his heart, not yet realizing he was jealous of his former self.
Chase added, "Actually, as long as the gift is thoughtful, that's what matters. Mrs. White doesn't have anything she particularly likes, but as long as it's from you, I think she'll be very happy."
Finnley pressed his lips together tightly and didn't speak for a long time.
After who knows how long, Finnley took out his phone, scrolled through his Messenger contacts to find someone's profile, clicked in, and quickly typed a reply.
"Get what I asked for ready. I'll come by tonight."
Brief and to the point. After sending it, he immediately exited Messenger and turned off his phone.
Chase was very curious but didn't dare ask more.
Instead, Finnley spoke first, instructing, "Wait for me outside the White Manor tonight. Come alone."
After saying this, he immediately opened the car door and got out.
Chase scratched his head in confusion, even more curious now.
That evening, he arrived at the White Manor entrance on time, raised his wrist to check the time, and looked toward the villa.
Finnley had specifically told him to find a hidden spot and stay out of sight.
So Chase parked the car under a tree outside the villa.
After a few minutes, Finnley's tall, slender figure emerged from inside and went straight into the back seat.
"Mr. White, where are we going?"
"Novatech Plaza on Willow Street." Finnley gave the address, then picked up a laptop from the side, his slender fingers tapping on the keyboard.
"Got it!" Chase immediately started the engine and headed toward Novatech Plaza.
Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of a building.
Chase turned to look at Finnley in the back seat. "Mr. White, we're here."
"Good."
Finnley closed the laptop, pushed open the car door, and got out, bringing Chase along inside.
This was Luminor Group's branch office in Novaria. Luminor Group had apparently emerged out of nowhere two years ago.
The jewelry Luminor Group produced had novel designs and diverse styles. They didn't just make high-end products but also some affordable niche styles that were widely loved by young women.
In just two years, Luminor Group had grown rapidly with tremendous momentum, almost catching up with the White Group's jewelry business.
It could be said they were the White Group's biggest competitor in the jewelry business.
Chase couldn't understand why Finnley would come here, but soon he was too shocked to speak.
Because Finnley entered his fingerprint at the main entrance, and the next second, the automatic door opened.
"Mr. White, how do you have fingerprint access to this company? Don't tell me you used to work here?"
Chase followed closely behind Finnley, immediately imagining a heartbreaking story of him giving up billions in family assets to work here.
Finnley's steps paused, and he looked at him with the kind of look you'd give an idiot. "Chase, your monthly salary must be pretty high, right?"
"It's okay, barely enough to get by and save a little."
Chase smiled, mentally adding: If only my bonuses didn't get deducted, that would be even better.
"Looks like we've been paying too much. I'll talk to Alaric tomorrow. Seems the White Group needs to strengthen employee training."
Chase froze, not immediately understanding. When he figured out what Finnley meant, his face fell.
"Mr. White, my work ability is really strong! I just have a loose tongue! Please don't cut my salary!"
Finnley chuckled softly but said nothing.
Finnley and Chase smoothly took the elevator to the top floor of the building. When the elevator doors opened, they saw someone waiting anxiously outside.
"Mr. Bryant, this way please. What you asked for is ready."
Finnley nodded slightly and let Kieran lead him inside.
Chase was shocked. What was going on?
Finnley was actually the owner of Luminor Group?
Beyond his shock, Chase couldn't help feeling a bit proud.
No wonder he'd followed this man for so long. Finnley had started managing the White Group in his teens. Even after losing his memory, some things were ingrained in his bones.
It wasn't surprising at all that he could run this company so well.
Finnley, walking ahead, suddenly paused and looked back at him. "Aren't you coming?"
Chase snapped back to attention and hurried to catch up, while growing more curious about what Finnley was planning to do.
After entering the office, Kieran handed an iPad to Finnley, explaining, "Mr. Bryant, these are the design samples you asked me to select. The materials are all prepared—all chosen according to your requirements, the best available."
Finnley responded coolly, his well-defined fingers swiping left and right on the iPad screen.
From the first image to the last, Finnley's expression grew darker and darker.
"You're sure these meet my requirements?"
