Chapter 334 Finally Going to Make a Big Move
When they came out of the restaurant, Sophia received a call from Francis saying that Wilford had woken up.
Having eaten her fill, Sophia leaned back against the passenger seat, staring at the ceiling with a resentful look. "I'm so sleepy..."
She let out a deep sigh, looking completely dazed with vacant eyes, as if she might fall asleep the next second.
Finnley couldn't help but smile at the sight.
Unable to resist, he reached out and ruffled her hair, saying, "Sleep for a bit. I'll wake you when we get to the hospital."
"Okay." Sophia mumbled in response and said nothing more.
Finnley glanced over and found that Sophia had already fallen asleep.
He chuckled helplessly and slowed down, trying to drive as smoothly as possible.
What should have been a ten-minute drive took him half an hour.
Finnley parked the car in the hospital garage and tried calling Sophia's name a few times. She frowned and pushed him away with a look of annoyance.
So annoying, can't a person get some sleep?
Finnley had no choice but to sit in the car and wait. After about ten minutes, seeing that enough time had passed, he tried waking her again.
This time Sophia grumbled but still opened her eyes.
"We're at the hospital?"
"Yes."
Sophia rubbed her sleepy eyes and patted her cheeks before slowly waking up.
"I'm going then. Remember to pick me up tonight." Before getting out, Sophia looked back at Finnley.
Finnley nodded in agreement. After she entered the hospital, he rolled up the window and prepared to return to the White Manor.
Just then, his phone suddenly rang.
Finnley picked up his phone and saw it was an unknown number.
He frowned and hung up directly, but the caller persisted, calling again and again.
Finally, too annoyed to ignore it, he answered.
"Hello?"
"Hello? Is this Benjamin? It's your mother." Amelia's voice came through the receiver.
Listening carefully, there was even a slight tremor in it.
Hearing the word "mother," Finnley couldn't help but freeze for a moment, then let out a cold laugh.
"Mother? Are you sure you deserve that title?"
Although he didn't know why Amelia was calling him, he instinctively disliked her.
Especially after reading about Benjamin's life, he found her even more disgusting.
How dare Amelia call herself his "mother"? It was an insult to the word.
"Benjamin, don't hang up. I have something to tell you," Amelia said anxiously.
Finnley's hand, about to hang up, paused. A flash of impatience crossed his dark eyes. "Speak."
Seeing he hadn't refused, Amelia's heart leaped with joy. "It's not convenient to talk on the phone. Let's meet at that coffee shop near the White Group."
She hung up immediately after speaking, not waiting for Finnley's agreement.
Finnley lowered his eyes, staring at his phone screen, lost in thought.
Half an hour later, Finnley drove to the coffee shop Amelia mentioned.
Amelia had already arrived. The moment she saw Finnley through the window, fear rose in her heart.
But thinking of that person's instructions, Amelia forced out a smile.
"Benjamin, you came?"
"Get to the point." Finnley was brief and direct, not wanting to waste time on Amelia.
Amelia's expression stiffened for a moment, and her eyes immediately moistened. "Benjamin, I heard you lost your memory? Is it true? I've been so worried about you."
"Worried? Worried that I didn't die two years ago? Or worried about... something else?"
Finnley's suggestive words made Amelia's heart skip a beat.
She lowered her lashes and wiped at the corners of her eyes. "Benjamin, how can you say that about me?"
Suddenly, her expression changed, and she grabbed Finnley's hand, demanding, "Did Sophia badmouth me to you? I knew that evil woman was up to no good!"
"Who gave you permission to talk about her like that?"
Finnley disgustedly shook off her hand, pulled out two tissues from the table, and vigorously wiped the spot where Amelia had touched him.
He might as well have written "disgusted" on his face.
Amelia looked flustered. "Benjamin..."
"Don't call me that. You don't think that just because I lost my memory, I also lost my ability to judge?" Finnley sneered mockingly.
Amelia had always lived a pampered life, beloved by all. Even though Magnus no longer loved her, the White family had never mistreated her.
So she had almost no cunning, wearing all her thoughts on her face.
In other words—stupid and mean.
Amelia was deeply stung by his mocking gaze, her expression turning ugly.
She had never been treated this way before.
Looking at Finnley before her, she was suddenly transported back two years, when Benjamin had defied her for that bitch Sophia—the scene was exactly the same as now.
Her expression immediately darkened, and she warned sternly, "Elijah asked me to tell you: don't do things you shouldn't do. You can't handle the consequences."
Originally, after hearing that Benjamin had lost his memory, she had planned to win him over.
If Benjamin stood on her side, she could return to the White family and be with Magnus again.
But who could tell her—had Finnley really lost his memory?
Why was his attitude toward her still the same as two years ago?
Especially those eyes—the bone-chilling coldness in his gaze was exactly the same, making one instinctively afraid.
"Then you tell him too: stay out of my business. And you—did you think you could use me just because I lost my memory?"
Finnley laughed coldly, stood up abruptly, and left without looking back.
Amelia's body stiffened. When she came to her senses, her hands and feet felt ice cold.
Did he... did he find out something?
After leaving the coffee shop, Finnley got directly into another car.
"Mr. White, we've confirmed it. Elijah is currently in Celestria." Chase sat in the driver's seat, his expression serious.
Finnley nodded slightly, his eyes extremely cold. "What else did you find out?"
"Elijah seems to have connections with Celestria's deputy executive. Our people photographed them meeting."
Chase handed the photos to Finnley.
Finnley glanced down at them, showing no surprise in his eyes.
When those people appeared at the hospital, he had already guessed this outcome.
The GeneCipher Society had deep roots. To become more stable, they needed to win over powerful enough forces.
Although Celestria's executive Wilford had constant scandals, he was fairly upright, and they couldn't win him over.
The best method was to wait for this election cycle in Celestria and support someone who would stand on their side and protect their interests.
But they overlooked one thing: Wilford was very popular and held a high position in the public's heart.
Many citizens supported Wilford's re-election.
For their plan to succeed, Wilford had to die.
Now that Wilford not only hadn't died but had also recovered from his illness, they definitely wouldn't let it go.
"Chase, have someone give these photos to Wilford. Don't expose yourself."
"Understood!" Chase's eyes lit up, and he immediately started rubbing his hands together eagerly.
After holding back for so long, they were finally going to make a big move!
