Chapter 323 Take Him to See Robert
Soon, a middle-aged man hurried out from inside, his face full of excitement.
"Sophia's here? Let me see her!"
The middle-aged man had delicate, handsome features and a tall, slender build. He wore casual clothes, but they couldn't hide the air of nobility in his every move.
His long, narrow eyes rippled with emotion—they looked passionate but were actually cold.
Sophia threw herself into his arms, her voice soft and playful: "Robert, you promised you'd come find me, but you didn't keep your word!"
"Good girl, Sophia, don't be mad. It's all my fault. Something came up and delayed me, that's why I didn't come see you." A hint of helplessness flashed across Robert's handsome face.
"I don't want to hear it! You have to make it up to me!" Sophia's cheeks puffed up slightly, looking all huffy.
Watching Sophia act cute like this, Robert felt his heart melting. "Okay, what do you want? I'll give you anything."
Sophia's bright eyes rolled around, and she said playfully, "I haven't decided yet, but I came this time because I need your help with something."
"What is it?" Robert raised an eyebrow, only now noticing a man with an upright posture standing behind Sophia.
Sophia stepped out of Robert's embrace and walked over, taking Finnley's hand.
"Robert, I need you to check his body."
Ever since entering, Finnley's gaze had been fixed on Robert.
Now that Robert looked over, his brow furrowed slightly, a barely noticeable ripple flashing through his eyes before being quickly suppressed.
Finnley met his gaze, their eyes meeting in the air. In that instant, some subtle tension seemed to spread through the air around them.
Robert was the first to look away. He extended his hand toward Finnley. "Mr. White? I've heard so much about you."
"Sophia's teacher is my teacher too. You can just call me by my name." Finnley reached out his hand, lightly touched Robert's, and quickly pulled back.
Robert asked with a smile, "Should I call you Benjamin or Finnley?"
Finnley paused slightly. "Whatever you prefer."
"Robert, have you two met before?" Watching their strange interaction, Sophia couldn't help but frown.
"No."
"No."
They spoke in unison. As soon as the words left their mouths, they couldn't help but glance at each other, then look away without a trace.
Anyone could tell there was definitely some secret between them.
But Sophia couldn't figure it out no matter how hard she tried.
Because whether it was two years ago or now, this was Finnley's first time meeting Robert.
"Alright, come with me. I'll check your body." Robert reached out and ruffled Sophia's hair, leading them inside.
Sophia was already worried about Finnley's health, so when he said this, she immediately pushed her doubts to the back of her mind.
Sophia stood on her tiptoes and whispered to Finnley, "Robert's medical skills are way better than mine. When Robert asks what's wrong, just tell him honestly, okay?"
"Got it." Finnley nodded lightly, his deep gaze falling on the figure not far ahead, his eyes flickering slightly.
When they reached the study, Robert sat down at the desk and said to Finnley, "Sit."
Finnley glanced at Sophia, then walked over and sat down in front of Robert.
Sophia sat beside Finnley. Watching Robert examine Finnley's body, her heart couldn't help but rise to her throat.
Seeing Robert's expression grow heavier and heavier, Sophia became even more nervous.
But she knew she shouldn't interrupt at this moment, so she didn't dare say a word.
Finnley sensed her emotional ups and downs and gently shook his head at her, indicating he was fine.
About ten minutes later, Robert finally finished.
Sophia asked urgently, "Robert, you've never taken this long to examine someone before. Is... is it very serious?"
Sophia felt her whole heart leap into her throat.
Ever since discovering that Finnley's body was showing some unusual symptoms, she had tried to secretly examine him.
But in the end, Sophia couldn't find anything wrong.
That's why Sophia wanted to bring Finnley to see Robert.
In Sophia's eyes, Robert was the person with the best medical skills in the world.
Robert let out a light sigh, his expression somewhat heavy.
Sophia panicked. "Robert, please tell me!"
Sophia's eyes began to moisten with worry.
Finnley saw this, and his heart felt like something had bumped into it, tingling.
He reached out and took Sophia's small hand, gripping it tightly in his palm, silently calming her emotions.
"Robert, just say it straight. I can handle it."
Robert stared at Finnley for a long time, then shook his head. "His illness... can't be seen on the surface."
"What do you mean can't be seen?"
"Because his body is very healthy. The problem isn't there."
Both Sophia and Finnley froze.
This confirmed Sophia's suspicions even more.
But she still asked her question out loud: "Robert, then why does he suddenly get headaches? They seem pretty frequent lately."
Robert looked Finnley up and down and came to a conclusion: "He's probably been hypnotized, and the person who hypnotized him gave him some commands that are hard to disobey."
When someone under these commands does something that goes against them, the brain has a stress response.
This so-called stress response doesn't actually cause serious harm to the body.
Rather, it controls the person by controlling their brain's nerves.
Robert continued, "The brain's structure is very complex. Anyone capable of this is definitely not ordinary."
As he said this, he glanced at Finnley without leaving a trace.
Finnley keenly caught his gaze and pressed his thin lips together.
No wonder...
No wonder every time he had the thought of getting close to Sophia, his brain felt like something was forcefully tearing at it, stopping his actions.
At first, Finnley thought something was wrong with his body.
But now hearing Robert say this, everything suddenly made sense.
Hypnosis... so it really exists?
Why would they do this?
What about him... was worth them spending so much effort on?
His eyes narrowed slightly, his long, pale fingers lightly tapping on his knee, lost in thought.
Sophia's face darkened, a cold smile crossing her lips. "That organization really went to great lengths to control Finnley."
"Those people are truly insane, stopping at nothing for their experiments."
Robert closed his eyes painfully, and in the blink of an eye, he forcefully suppressed the surging emotions in them.
"Sophia, go out for a bit. I need to talk to Finnley alone."
