Chapter 224 Exposed
Before Sophia could feel happy, she heard Benjamin continue, "Only wear it at home, only for me to see."
"..."
Sure enough, she knew there was a trap waiting for her.
Just then, her phone suddenly rang. Sophia received a call from Sean.
"Ms. Brown, something's happened! Quick, check online." His tone was urgent and anxious.
He was usually so composed - Sophia had never seen him this worked up before.
"What's wrong?" She opened her phone and checked Facebook, thinking maybe one of the company's celebrities had been exposed for something bad.
Instead, she saw her own name trending.
Sophia: ?
Sophia clicked on a topic and found it filled with constant abuse and endless vulgar language.
"What's wrong?" Benjamin leaned over to look, and his expression immediately darkened.
How long had it been since someone posted that video of Sophia treating patients online, and now people were attacking her again?
"Need my help?"
Sophia shook her head calmly, her eyes showing no emotion, as if she didn't care about this at all.
"No need, I can handle it myself."
Such a small matter didn't require Benjamin's intervention.
She spoke to Sean on the other end of the phone: "Contact the company's PR team and have them come up with a PR plan as soon as possible."
Company?
Benjamin raised an eyebrow, a flash of surprise in his eyes.
How did he not know Sophia had a company?
Sophia hung up the phone and met Benjamin's puzzled gaze.
Her grip on her phone tightened as she suddenly realized she might have let something slip.
But there was nothing to hide anyway.
She blinked guiltily and explained in a low voice: "When I went to Vast Mountain before, it wasn't just because Joshua and Cillian were there."
"Then why was it?"
Actually, Benjamin had some guesses, but he never wanted to deliberately investigate Sophia.
"Because... have you heard of StarVibe Entertainment?" Sophia wrapped her arms around Benjamin's waist and looked up at him.
Meeting Sophia's clear eyes, Benjamin instantly understood what she meant.
Someone who could easily mobilize StarVibe Entertainment's PR team could only be that mysterious CEO who had never appeared publicly.
He looked at Sophia's face for a while, then suddenly laughed softly.
Sophia felt confused by his laughter, and her heart grew nervous.
She explained in a low voice: "I didn't mean to hide it from you, it's just you never asked, and I couldn't find the right moment to bring it up."
"I know." Benjamin tightened his arm around Sophia's slender waist, feeling even more grateful that he hadn't missed out on Sophia back then.
His little wife was like a treasure, always able to give him unexpected surprises.
Come to think of it, he and Sophia had some history before.
When Cillian was making his debut, Benjamin had wanted to start an entertainment company or studio specifically to provide resources for him.
Unfortunately, someone beat him to it, and Cillian was snatched away.
He used to feel upset about it, but now it seemed everything was meant to be.
Everything was destined, just like things between him and Sophia.
"How do you plan to handle this?" Benjamin asked in a low, husky voice.
"Public opinion is spreading too fast - someone must be manipulating it behind the scenes. My plan is naturally to let the public opinion continue to ferment and expose whoever's behind it."
Benjamin lowered his eyes, his large, warm palm gently caressing Sophia's fair, tender cheek, his eyes full of heartache.
"But this way you'll suffer a lot of abuse and humiliation for nothing."
He couldn't bear it.
Couldn't bear to let Sophia be hurt in any way, and didn't want to see those people humiliate Sophia.
"I just won't look at it, right? I won't let anyone who wants to harm me get away with it, and I won't be defeated by a few insults." Sophia laughed lightly, her small face delicate and beautiful.
Her eyes were soft, yet revealed an indescribable stubbornness and resilience.
After a moment of silence, Benjamin finally sighed slowly, "Alright, we'll do it your way. But once we find out who's behind hurting you, I won't let any of them go."
Sophia nodded in agreement, "What a coincidence, neither will I."
The two smiled at each other, and without needing to say more, they already understood what the other was thinking.
The negative public opinion online continued to spread.
At first, they attacked Sophia for taking Isolde's position, using her capital to pressure people.
Later, someone somehow leaked information, connecting Sawyer's fight to Sophia, claiming the two fought over her.
Sawyer had been in the entertainment industry for so many years and had many female fans and devoted fans.
As soon as this news came out, the fans exploded.
"Blame whoever you should blame, don't drag our Sawyer into this!"
"This is heartbreaking. Can Sophia come out and say something? So many people have been implicated because of her, and she's just playing dead!"
"What's the use of having a pretty face? Resource-backed celebrities should be permanently banned!"
...
Sawyer's side quickly received the news.
Before he could respond, he received a phone call from Isabella.
Sawyer was already in a bad mood and didn't want to answer, but Flynn said, "Answer it. I'd like to hear what she has to say."
So Sawyer pressed the answer button.
"Hello? Second Brother, are you okay? I just saw Facebook. How could Sophia do this? You clearly stood up for her, but when something happened, she hid."
"Second Brother, are you alright? Seeing those comments attacking you breaks my heart!"
Sawyer and Flynn exchanged glances, a mocking smile forming at the corners of their mouths.
"How thoughtful of you to feel bad for me." Sawyer's tone carried an indescribable coldness.
Isabella felt something odd about Sawyer's tone, but before she could think deeply about it, she suppressed her inner excitement and said in a low voice: "Of course, you're my brother! Second Brother, when are you coming back? I'll go with you to confront Sophia. How could she treat you like this!"
Sawyer lowered his eyes and asked in a deep voice: "Isabella, how do you know I beat up Alvin to stand up for Sophia?"
When he hit Alvin, it was in the bathroom where there were no cameras.
So even the crew members on set didn't know what actually happened.
The online speculation only said that Alvin and Sawyer fought over Sophia, but the specific reason was unknown.
The only ones who could know the truth, besides him and Alvin, would be whoever was behind it all.
Combined with the recording Alvin played for him that day...
Sawyer laughed self-mockingly. After spending more than ten years with Isabella, he never dreamed that his sister could be so calculating.
Isabella was stunned by the question, suddenly realizing something was wrong with what she said, and hastily explained: "I, I saw it online. Second Brother, I was just too worried about you. Why are you being mean to me..."
As Isabella spoke, she actually started sobbing quietly.
Sawyer rubbed his temples, but his tone was unusually calm: "Isabella, I already went to see Alvin. He told me everything."
