Chapter 112 I Have Never Admitted Benjamin as My Son

Chapter 113 I'm Not Crazy!

Benjamin noticed something was off with her and said softly to comfort her, "Grandpa doesn't like goodbyes, so he didn't want us to see him off. What's wrong? Are you unhappy?"

"Not really. I'm just feeling restless, like something's about to happen."

Benjamin chuckled softly and sighed helplessly.

"What could happen? This isn't Grandpa's first time going out, and he has plenty of bodyguards with him. He'll be fine."

Sophia kept a straight face and shook her head slightly.

"I can't explain it. I just feel uneasy inside. Maybe I really am overthinking."

"Don't worry so much. I've got everything under control."

Sophia nodded and leaned into Benjamin's arms, closing her eyes again.

She hoped so...

After Sophia fell asleep, Benjamin slowly opened his eyes.

His warm palm gently stroked the top of Sophia's head, a dark look flashing in his eyes.

He took out his phone and sent a message to the bodyguards escorting Preston.

He told them to protect Preston well.

Sophia wouldn't say these things for no reason.

It never hurt to be careful.

After Preston left, Amelia's attitude toward Sophia turned cold. She didn't even want to keep up appearances anymore.

These past few days, the entire White Manor was filled with a heavy, oppressive atmosphere.

Left with no choice, Alaric contacted the psychologist who had treated Amelia before.

This psychologist was named Dashiell Blackwell, and he was quite well-known in the country.

When Sophia came downstairs, she happened to run into Alaric bringing Dashiell home.

Alaric introduced them: "Sophia, this is Dr. Blackwell, the doctor who's been treating Mom. Dr. Blackwell, this is my brother's wife."

Sophia smiled and nodded slightly.

"Hello, Dr. Blackwell."

"So you must be Mrs. Sophia White? I'd heard that Mr. White got married, but I didn't dare believe it. I didn't expect it to be true."

From his tone, Dashiell seemed quite familiar with the White Family's situation.

Sophia smiled shyly.

"Benjamin's health isn't good, so we didn't have a wedding. Once he gets better, we'll definitely make up for it. Dr. Blackwell, you must come to the wedding when that happens," Alaric teased in a low voice.

"Of course!" Dr. Blackwell laughed heartily.

Sophia couldn't help but smile too.

A wedding...

She and Benjamin really should have a proper wedding.

She wanted everyone to know that Benjamin was her husband!

Just thinking about that scene made Sophia's heart bubble with happiness.

"Sophia, I'll take Dr. Blackwell upstairs now."

"Okay."

Alaric gestured for Dashiell to go ahead and led him upstairs.

Sophia stood there for a long time.

Her clear eyes narrowed slightly as she stared intently at Dashiell's back, her expression unreadable.

She seemed to be thinking about something.

Emma stood there stunned and quickly asked, "Mrs. White, is something wrong?"

Sophia snapped out of it and shook her head with a smile.

"Nothing."

Maybe she was overthinking.

For some reason, Dashiell didn't give her a very comfortable feeling.

Especially the way he looked at her—there was a hint of scrutiny.

And some other expression she couldn't quite read.

Emma didn't know what Sophia was thinking.

She placed the fruit on the coffee table in the living room and said, "Mrs. White, the weather's been dry these days. Mr. White said you should eat more fruit."

"Okay."

Sophia smiled and walked over, using a toothpick to pick up a piece of watermelon and put it in her mouth.

The sweet freshness of the watermelon spread across her lips, and Sophia's expression gradually relaxed.

Upstairs, Amelia was throwing a fit.

She was trembling with anger, pointing furiously at Alaric.

"Alaric, what is the meaning of this?"

"Mom, this is Dr. Blackwell. Don't you remember him?"

Alaric felt somewhat confused.

He knew Amelia had always insisted she wasn't sick and was very resistant to seeing doctors.

But he hadn't expected such a strong reaction.

"Why should I see a doctor when I'm not sick? Alaric, have you been listening to that bitch Sophia too?"

Amelia never imagined that her most beloved son wouldn't believe her, but would instead believe that bitch Sophia!

Alaric rubbed his temples helplessly. "What does this have to do with Sophia? Your mental state has been unstable lately. I just asked Dr. Blackwell to come check on you."

"Who says I'm unstable? I'm fine! I don't need to see a doctor!" Amelia screamed hysterically.

"Mom, just let Dr. Blackwell examine you. He's been treating you for so many years. You should know his abilities best," Alaric patiently persuaded.

Dashiell stood there, looking somewhat embarrassed.

He really hadn't expected Amelia to be so resistant to him.

"I said I'm not sick! Make him leave now!" Amelia glared at Dashiell furiously.

Dashiell awkwardly touched his nose, unsure what to do for a moment.

Fortunately, with his years of medical experience, he knew how to calm patients down.

He stepped forward, his voice gentle: "Mrs. White, Alaric is just worried about your health. He doesn't mean anything else. Please calm down first..."

Under Dashiell's soothing, Amelia's emotions gradually settled.

About ten minutes later, Amelia finally agreed to accept treatment.

Alaric came downstairs looking exhausted.

Psychologists needed an absolutely quiet environment when treating patients.

It wasn't convenient for Alaric to be present.

Seeing Alaric come down from upstairs, Sophia quickly asked, "Alaric, how is she doing?"

Since marrying into the White Family, Sophia's way of referring to Amelia had always been distant.

Alaric knew she didn't like Amelia, so he wasn't surprised.

He sat down on the sofa, his eyes full of exhaustion.

Emma quickly poured a glass of water and handed it to him.

Alaric reached out to take the glass and thanked her.

"It's not a big deal. My mom's mental state has never been very good. She's often unpredictable."

Sophia thought for a moment and asked quietly, "Who is this Dr. Blackwell?"

"Dr. Blackwell is a very well-known psychologist in the country. He's been treating my mom for over ten years."

Hearing this, Sophia was secretly surprised.

Over ten years?

After such a long time, Amelia's condition seemed more serious than she'd thought.

Seeing Sophia frowning and lost in thought, Alaric also felt somewhat emotional.

"Dr. Blackwell was recommended by Elijah. You might not know this, but when Benjamin was kidnapped back then, it wasn't actually because he wandered off while playing. It was..."

Alaric's voice paused.

As if remembering something, a flash of pain crossed his eyes.

Hearing Benjamin's name, Sophia immediately perked up.

She looked at Alaric with confusion, a bad feeling suddenly forming in her heart.

"Alaric, are you saying my husband's kidnapping was deliberate?"

Alaric shook his head and sighed helplessly.

"It was just a series of unfortunate events, but my mom can't escape responsibility. Back then, her mental state was terrible. Every time she saw Benjamin, she couldn't help but lose control. That day, she finally couldn't take it anymore..."

Alaric's voice was low, carrying an indescribable sense of desolation and heartache.
