Chapter 103 Guilt

Chapter 104 Research on Ointment

Sophia quickly sorted the herbs from her bag and laid them out on the table.

Even with just one hand, her movements were precise and efficient.

Her actions immediately drew the attention of everyone else in the lab.

Curiosity was written all over their faces.

Even Alaric, known for his workaholic tendencies, paused what he was doing.

His deep eyes scrutinized Sophia's every move.

Sophia had brought a lot of pharmaceutical tools, looking very professional.

However, this method of making medicine was almost unheard of to these researchers.

"Do you really think your medicine will work? It doesn't look very convincing," Hannah said, frowning at the black ointment.

They were all medical professionals, well-versed in their field, but they had no idea what Sophia was doing.

"Won't know until we try, right?" Sophia's lips curved into a confident smile.

Skepticism lingered in the room.

Until Sophia finished making the ointment, and everyone was stunned.

They watched as Sophia applied the ointment to her burned arm.

In just over an hour, the redness and swelling began to fade.

They exchanged bewildered glances, eyes filled with shock and amazement.

"This... how is this possible..." Hannah was the first to speak, eyes wide with disbelief.

If they hadn't seen it with their own eyes, they might have thought it was an illusion.

But it wasn't just her; Steven, Aurora, and Alaric saw it too.

"Sophia, you used common herbs. Why is the effect so pronounced?" Alaric asked, puzzled.

His expression was serious, his demeanor calm.

He rarely showed his emotions, but inside, he was in turmoil.

Steven picked up the ointment and examined it closely, finding nothing special.

"The same herbs can have different effects with different ratios," Sophia explained with a smile.

"These herbs are indeed common, but to maximize their efficacy, the person making the medicine needs precise control over the quantities."

Steven quietly applied some ointment to the back of his hand.

A cool sensation spread, feeling very comfortable.

But aside from that, there was no other sensation.

Alaric teased, "Your hand isn't injured. You're wasting good medicine."

"That's easy to fix," Steven said with a smirk, picking up a thermos and pouring himself a cup of hot water.

Then, he poured the hot water onto the back of his hand.

Everyone was shocked by his actions.

Even Sophia was stunned.

She didn't expect Steven to be so determined.

To test the ointment, he was willing to hurt himself!

Sophia suddenly recalled Alaric's comment about Steven.

"His medical talent isn't the highest, but his passion for medicine surpasses everyone."

Sophia hadn't understood the true meaning of those words before.

But now, she did.

No wonder he was called a "medical maniac."

Steven's face contorted in pain.

The moment the hot water hit his hand, he regretted it.

It hurt.

A lot.

So this is what a burn feels like.

"Sophia, you're a real warrior," Steven said through gritted teeth, giving her a thumbs up.

He had seen the video of Sophia being splashed with hot water.

Sophia had remained calm throughout, even after getting hurt, she had the strength to subdue the attacker.

Steven felt ashamed that he, a grown man, couldn't match her resilience.

"You're too kind," Sophia replied with a smile.

Everyone chuckled.

"Quick, try the ointment."

"Yeah, my hand's red, I need to try it!" Steven quickly grabbed the ointment.

The black ointment looked ordinary.

But as soon as he applied it, the burning sensation eased significantly.

The pain started to subside.

As time passed, Steven watched his hand, his eyes growing brighter.

"This is amazing medicine!"

Steven eagerly showed his hand to the others in the lab.

Everyone stopped what they were doing, eyes fixed on Steven's hand.

The water from the cooler was boiling hot.

So, Steven's hand had a red burn mark.

But now, the redness was fading.

The blisters were shrinking.

Aurora's eyes sparkled with excitement, "Sophia, this ointment is incredible. Even the best burn medicine here can't compare!"

Hannah's mouth hung open in disbelief.

She had thought Sophia was joking.

Medical professionals usually specialize in one area.

Sophia's medical talent far surpassed many experts.

But she also had extensive knowledge of pharmaceuticals, even praised by Elijah.

Hannah had thought Sophia making her own ointment was a joke, but she had created something astonishing in no time.

Her view of Sophia kept changing.

She even wondered if Sophia was human.

Having such extraordinary talent seemed almost supernatural.

Thinking about her earlier doubts, Hannah felt a twinge of embarrassment.

"Sophia, can I keep this ointment?" Steven asked eagerly.

He wanted to study it thoroughly.

"Since you're so dedicated, you can have it."

"Yes! Thank you, Sophia. If you need anything, just ask, I won't hesitate," Steven said, excitedly putting the ointment away.

Alaric and Aurora exchanged looks, rolling their eyes.

"Sophia, can you teach us how to make this ointment?" Aurora asked.

Steven's eyes lit up.

"Why didn't I think of that? Sophia, could you share the process? Of course, if it's inconvenient, we understand."

Steven scratched his head awkwardly, not expecting much.

For a pharmacist, formulas are top secret.

This ointment was the best burn treatment around, its value was clear.

But to everyone's surprise, Sophia nodded.

"Sure."

Everyone's faces lit up with joy.

Sophia smiled and explained, "Actually, the process isn't complicated. The herbs used are very common..."
