Chapter 118

Chapter 118

Charles pov

“I honestly don’t know what to tell you, I’m just a little disappointed that you called me here for that reason. I thought you would probably have something reasonable to tell me, I wish I knew earlier that you just had plans to interrupt my important meetings.” I sighed at him.

“This is important, Marriage is an important union, don’t you have a heart?!”

“Trust me when I say, you’re not the first person asking me this question. It’s all about being logical, why force it to happen when there’s nothing left to drive that feeling?”

“What do you mean ?”

“If you two aren’t ready for marriage then why push it?!”

“Who said we weren’t ready for marriage?”
He sat up straight and his eyes grew wide, “is that what Isadora said?”

“That isn’t what she said, look you have to leave, I don’t want to come in between your wedding and love life, it’s none of my concern.”

“Charles, I know … this is —“ before he could complete his statement, he was interrupted by a knock on the door.“Come in please!” I yelled from the inside. Sloane pushed the door open with her gaze on her iPad, immediately she turned to my direction and spotted Oliver, she looked really surprised, “Er… sir… I was distracted too.

“Sloane?” I called out, waiting to receive what information she had for me.“Err sir, I wanted to let you know the party planners for the launching ceremony are here.” She said to me, “they’re waiting at the conference room.”

“Alright, I’ll be there in a bit.” She then glared at me before turning around and she left.

“I guess that’s my cue.” Oliver said.

“Yeah, perfect timing. By the way can we not do this again?” I said to him and we both got up.

“Charles, you’re a very difficult man.”

“I’m not sure why you think we both should automatically be friends because you and Isadora are getting married to each other.” I made my way to the other side of the desk, heading towards the door when Oliver grabbed a hold of my arm, I looked down at his grip and furrowed my brows at him and immediately he let go, “Sorry about that. I just wanted to confirm.”

“You should leave.”

“Did Isadora really mention something about not wanting to partake in the wedding?”

“No she didn’t!” I sparked at him, “I badly think you should have this conversation with your wife to be instead of holding me back from attending to very much more important things.”

“You’re right.” He adjusted his suit and made his way out of the company. As I made it into the elevator, I let out a deep sigh of relief. Immediately the elevator doors flew open, I was greeted by the confused look plastered on Sloane’s face.

“I know what you’re thinking.” I said to her as we both marched to the conference room.”

“Yeah? And ?”

“It’s nothing serious..”

“Sorry if I may ask sir, —“

“It’s Charles to you.” I interrupted her.She went mute for a moment before continuing her statement, “What did he come to do?”

“He came to seek advise apparently… he feels like his marriage is falling apart even though they haven’t even gotten married yet.”

“Oh… er, that’s weird, why did he come to meet you in particular?” I turned to her, “I had a romantic relationship with his wife to be, Sloane, he feels what we had was stronger so he came to ask for tips on how to make his woman stay because clearly I was really good at that.” I said to Sloane.

I stole a glance at her as we made a quick turn at the next hall. I grabbed her by her arms and pinned her against the wall, “Sir— Charles!” That look of worry immediately waltzed from her face leaving her with a look of shock.

“A penny for your thoughts?” I tilted my head to the side.Darting her eyes around the room, “Si- Charles, we’re — someone may see us here.” stuttered.

“We are superior to whoever see us so clearly there’s literally nothing they could possibly do to stop us.” I whispered in her ears and gently traced my hand around her waist.

She tried to wriggle her way out of my grip but I held on tight, “Someone’s coming.” She mentioned once more but I ignored her. Instead, I closed the space between us and brought my lips closer to her ears, “Have you forgotten we are the superiors?” I whispered.

I let go of her arms and gently pressed her neck against the wall. She gave me the same look a lost sheep would give its predator just before it was about to be devoured. Gently she grabbed a hold of my arms, holding on as tight as she could, “Sir this is a bad idea.” she whispered once more.

I raised her chin and brought my face close to hers and this time I whispered in her lips, “I sensed jealousy, the minute I mentioned her name, you went mute.”

She could barely keep eye contact neither did she say anything in response.I let go of her neck and grabbed her lower jaw instead, my gaze buried on her lips, gently I brushed my lips against hers and I felt her shiver.

With my other hand, I grabbed her waist, pulling her closer to myself, close enough to feel the hardness in my pants.Immediately I let go of her chin, I grabbed her by the arm and let her into the storage room which was just two doors away from the conference room where the party planners were waiting, “Sir, we need to get to the meeting—“Before she could finish speaking, I slammed the door and pressed my lips against hers but she didn’t stop me which meant she wanted it too and was grateful that I made the move.

“Sir—“ she pulled away , “we shouldn’t be doing this….” She whispered softly with her eyes shut, “I can’t do this …” she said before I let go of her and she walked out of the room
