Chapter 119
Chapter 119
Isadora pov
By the time I got back to the office, still shaking and breath taken by Oliver’s behavior towards me, I remembered I asked Rowan, my young assistant whom daddy handed over to me, to take care of some paperwork I left undone, hoping he would have taken care of all of it.
I pushed the door open and met the office upside and unrecognizable, completely different from how I left it.my jaw dropped in shock as I slowly stepped in, careful enough not to complicate things any further or break something by mistake since the ground was covered in sheets of paper and pieces from shredded paperwork.
I got the desk, placed my bag carefully as the anger in me boiled up, I gently searched my desk to make sure the important paperwork were still intact.I was pissed at the fact that he made a mess of my workspace and even left the door open, leaving the office assessable to anyone who could just come in and grab something without my consent.
“Ma’am!” I heard his voice come from behind. I turned around and met Rowan looking very worried and scared with a large folder clutched in his grasp against his chest.I exhaled softly and in a very soft lowered tone, I asked.
“What the hell happened here?”
“Miss Isadora I can’t explain.”
“That is what I’m asking you to do. I’m confused at what is going on here?” I said, struggling to control my emotions as they were almost slipping off through my voice.
“I’m just an intern…” he whispered to me, his voice shaky.I shook my head to show him I wasn’t going to accept such, “I don’t care if you’re an intern and that isn’t even the answer to the question I asked.”
“I know, Miss Isadora—“
“stop saying that!” I yelled at him.
“Y— yes ma’am.” He stuttered.
“What were you thinking?!”
“I had everything under control at first but then the shredder went haywire, there was no way I could ignore that so I had to keep throwing waste paper work into it and then it stopped. It stopped working completely and it stopped taking sheets of paper, instead it started spitting it all out—“
“Why didn’t you try to reach the technical department? Why did you think this was a wise option?” I yelled at him.
“I did go to meet the technical department but they weren’t willing to attend to me and when I finally got their attention, they told me they were on their break and they would strictly not do anything related to working during their lunch break.”
“oh my goodness…” I sighed and rubbed my hands against my temporals and walked around in circles, trying to not throw a tantrum because I could swear if I could go scot free, I would strangle Rowan to death right now.I exhaled sharply and approached him, closing the space between us, “If I find out that you shredded very important documents, I will fucking kill you, and that’s a promise.”
“Miss Isadora, I apologize completely, I’ve just never done this job, it’s my first time and I’m just an intern—“
“Have you learned nothing in college?! Oh my goodness, Rowan are you even certified?! Do you have a fucking degree at all?”
“I’m sorry.” He buried his face in the ground, “You better clean up this mess while I go tell my father that I’m fucking firing you for this!” I yelled at him and as I stormed out of the office, “You fucking imbecile.” I whispered to myself as I pushed the door open.
Immediately the door flew open, I met Oliver standing right in front of me. He stared at me but I was too angry to even say anything to him. Just the sight of him alone made my heart fall into my stomach and jump right back up into my chest, I brushed into his shoulder as I stormed towards daddy’s office.
“My beautiful daughter.” Daddy called out as I stepped in and took a seat then I folded my arms to my chest without saying anything to him. With the look I had on my face, he probably noticed how upset I was, “Honey?” He called out softly and dropped his pen, his head slightly tilted to the left.
“What is the matter?” He asked. Before I could open my mouth and say anything to him, I was immediately interrupted by Oliver who pushed the door open and called out my name, “Isadora!”I turned around in shock and so did daddy, “Oliver?! Why did you barge in like that?” Daddy asked, “You startled us both.”
“I—I’m sorry.” He stuttered and turned to me, “Isadora… can I please talk to you for a minute?”
“Oliver? You’re interrupting me from talking with my daughter—“ daddy said to him.
I furrowed my brows at him, “Yeah, Oliver, what are you doing here? You shouldn’t be here.”
“Isadora, I just want to talk to you for a —“
“Oliver, I’m about to talk to my father and you’re interrupting me, I would really appreciate it if you leave!” I said to him with a straight face then I turned back to daddy who curled a brow, darting his eyes at us both, “What is going on between you two.” He asked.
“nothing—“ I responded quickly before Oliver could say anything.
“Isadora, please give me a minute, I just want to tell you something really important.”
“…” I exhaled softly without saying anything, I turned around and daddy turned to me, “Issa…”I turned to him and without him saying anything I already knew what he would say next, “I think you should go talk to him, see what he wants.”
“Daddy I’m fine.” I muttered.
“Issa?”
“Daddy, what I have to tell you is way more important than whatever he has to say.”
“Issa please.” Oliver pleased once more. Daddy jerked his head at me and I just felt weak because for once he could be on my side. I got up and walked out of the room and Oliver followed suite. He shut the door behind me while we stood in the halls, “What do you want?!”
