Chapter 183

Chapter 183

After all, it was Layla who had been talking about Seth behind his back first, so she cleared her throat to compose herself. "We were just chatting casually."

Only then did Seth walk into the kitchen. He stood where Mira had been standing and looked at her. "If you want to know something, you can come ask me directly."

Layla frowned, feeling speechless.

She glanced at him. "I don't want to know. That's your private business."

"Then why did you ask Mira?"

Layla wanted to explain, but in the end, she swallowed her explanation.

Finally, she simply picked up the medicine and drank it all in one go.

She was getting used to the bitter taste now. She wrinkled her brow. "I'll go upstairs and wait for you."

As soon as Layla finished speaking and was about to leave, Seth grabbed her wrist and pressed her against the edge of the counter.

Layla immediately looked at him warily. "What are you doing?"

Seth trapped her between his arms and stared at her intently. "The relationship was real."

Layla seemed to freeze for a moment, but there was no extra emotion on her face. "I know. So what?"

Seeing her unmoved, Seth's eyes darkened slightly, and he suddenly leaned closer to her.

Layla could only keep leaning back. She felt uncomfortable, and she wasn't going to indulge him. "If you have something to say, just say it. Can't you talk without getting this close?"

After she finished speaking, she tried to push him away, but he gripped her wrist tightly.

"Seth, if you want to say something, just say it properly. Don't get handsy."

"We're going to have sex in a bit anyway. What's wrong with holding your hand?"

"Shut up!" Layla tried to push Seth away, but he was like a boulder, not budging an inch.

"What exactly do you want?"

Seth gripped her wrist tightly, his eyes fixed on her as he said in a low voice, "But I never touched her. I didn't even kiss her."

Layla suddenly looked up at him.

Seth leaned down even closer to her face. "What I said before, I didn't lie to you."

Layla pressed her red lips together and looked at him. After a few seconds, she said calmly. "I don't care, and I don't want to know. You don't need to explain to me. Our current arrangement is just for Elijah. I hope you understand that. So let go of me now."

"I told you, you're the only woman I've ever been with in my life."

After hearing this, Layla pushed him away forcefully. She stared at him coldly. "That's your business. You don't need to tell me."

As she was about to leave, Seth turned around and pulled her into his arms. "I'm serious. I only want you and only have you."

"Seth, I've made our relationship very clear. If you keep saying things like this, I'll..."

Before she could finish, Seth turned her body around and lowered his head to kiss her lips.

The next second, Seth scooped Layla up and carried her straight upstairs.

Mira heard the noise and looked out the window, watching Layla and Seth go up the stairs. She couldn't help but smile.

She shook the bedsheet in her hands vigorously. "Should I buy a few more sets as backup? I can't keep up with all this washing..."

Meanwhile, Betty followed the GPS to the address Adrian had given her.

It was a villa, and the surroundings weren't unfamiliar to her.

After she went in, someone came out to greet her with a welcoming smile.

"Mrs. Evans, we're the people who will be taking care of you from now on. This is Kaida, this is Faye, my name is Veda, and there's also a driver named Owen."

Betty glanced at them and nodded. "Alright, thank you all for your help."

"Don't mention it, Mrs. Evans. This is what we should do. Kaida, help Mrs. Evans bring her luggage inside."

"Okay, Veda."

"Mrs. Evans, let's go in. Mr. Evans said it's your first day moving in and asked me to show you around to see if there's anything you're not satisfied with."

Betty nodded and followed her into the villa. The villa's decoration was in the latest trendy style, full of modern vibes, completely different from the vintage atmosphere of the Montgomery Villa.

She glanced around the villa without making any comments.

This wasn't her home, just a temporary place to stay.

"Where's my room?"

"On the second floor. Mrs. Evans, follow me."

After entering the room, Betty knew that Adrian must also be living here.

Kaida had already walked to the closet, planning to help her hang up her clothes.

"No need, Kaida. I can do it myself. You can go do your work."

Kaida looked at Veda, and only after seeing her nod did she go about her business.

Veda looked at Betty with a smile. "Mrs. Evans, do you have any dietary restrictions?"

Betty shook her head. "No."

"Alright, then I'll come up and call you for dinner later."

After they left, Betty opened the closet. There were already quite a few new women's clothes hanging inside, and at a glance, she could tell they matched her usual style.

She made some space and took out the clothes she had brought, hanging them up one by one, then put her suitcase in the dressing room.

She didn't look around the villa because she didn't care at all.

She turned to look at the bed behind her for a long time without moving.

Her phone received many congratulatory messages, all wishing her a happy wedding.

But she didn't reply to a single one.

Half an hour later, Faye came upstairs to knock on the door and call her down for dinner.

Betty got up and went downstairs. There were many dishes, a full eight courses. She pulled out a chair, sat down, and ate in silence.

The others didn't show any unusual reaction.

After eating, Betty put down her utensils and was about to go upstairs when there was a noise at the door.

"It seems like Mr. Evans is back." Kaida got up to greet him.

Betty's movement of putting down her fork slowed down a bit. She sat in her chair, quietly watching the door.

But the person who came in was Elara.

Elara paused when she saw Betty. The servants in the house obviously knew her.

"Ms. West."

Elara nodded and very naturally took out her own pair of slippers from the cabinet and walked toward the dining table.

She pulled out the chair across from Betty and sat down. "I'm here for dinner."

Veda glanced at Betty and Elara, then had Faye get another set of utensils.

Betty looked at her and said, "I'm done eating. Take your time."

Elara looked at her for a few seconds before asking, "Aren't you curious how I got here?"

Betty had already stood up. Hearing this, she did ask. "How did you get here?"

Although it was a question, the way she said it didn't seem curious at all.

Elara was speechless for a few seconds before saying, "I'm staying here tonight too."

Veda looked up at the two of them and noticed Betty was also looking at her.

Betty looked at Veda and said, "She has a room here, right?"

Veda paused, glanced at Elara, and nodded. "Yes."

Betty nodded. "I just got here and I'm not familiar with the place yet. Make yourself at home."

With that, she turned and went upstairs. Elara frowned at her cold demeanor and couldn't help but say. "He went to the club to hang out, so I came to keep you company. Nothing else."
