Chapter 74 Chapter 74
Chapter 74 Chapter 74
Vamica's POV
I called the first person I knew I could call whenever things were good or bad. Lila.
I winced as her line rang, it had been a while I had spoken to her. And it was always bad news or something equivalent that I told her anytime I called or go to her.
“Hey, Vam” her voice came through the call, a sniffle leaving me at her cool and soothing voice.
“Hey, are you home?” I asked. I needed a place to crash before I had the energy to go to the office to quit.
“Oh, no. I am at Ibiza as a client's personal masseuse. Are you fine?” She asked, her tone worried.
The tears I had kept abay threatened to burst out of me. I slapped a palm over my mouth, tears rolling down my cheeks.
“Hello, Vam? Are you there?” She asked, her tone getting even more worried. “Yes, I am good” I croaked out, wiping at my cheeks.
“Where are you?” She asked, her tone suspicious. She always seemed to know when I was not feeling too great.
“I-i am on my way to work” I stuttered out, my palms sweating at the lie.
“Are you sure you are fine?” She asked as she excused herself from somewhere.
It was clear I was interrupting her job. “I am good, I would let you get back to your work, byee!” I hung up, a sob tearing out of me.
Knight's betrayal and the knowledge that I was attracted to the son of the man who killed my parents created a hole in my heart, so big I was sure it would never heal.
I keep walking, my son simmering down to a sniffle as I debated whether or not I should call Ethan.
He was my last option. I had no one else to call if not him. I tapped onto his contact, even though I knew I shouldn't call him.
Not after all that had happened between us. He picked up after the second ring, his voice deep as he spoke.
“Vamica, what is wrong?” He asked immediately, his tone worried.
A sniffles into the call “I hope I am not disturbing you, you are the l-last person I could…so…” I broke down, my sentences becoming incoherent.
“Tell me where you are, I would be there” he let out, shuffling breaking out around him.
I described where I was to him, the pause in his steps indicating he knew I was around Knight's house.
“Don't hang up, Vamica. I would be there” he reassured me as he started his car.
Thirty minutes later the roar of his car almost had me bursting into tears.
The parked in front of me, pushing the door to his car open. His face still had creases from sleep.
“Are you fine? What did he do to you?” He questioned, herding me into his car.
“I am not ready to talk about it” I squeezed out, my breathing elevating.
His hands tightened briefly before he nodded, closing the door to the passenger seat as he entered into the car via the driver's seat.
As he slammed his door shut, somebody roared out my name. Knight.
“Move, now!” I exclaimed, my eyes going wide as he parked his car right behind Ethan's car.
“What are you doing in his car, Vamica?!” He yelled, his hands fisted beside him as he approached Ethan's car.
Ethan flooded the gas just as Knight reached his car. “Just what did he do to you?” Ethan gritted out as he zoomed off.
I sniffled, my eyes going to the review mirror. I bit back a gasp of shock as I saw a wolf chasing after our car.
I looked away with great difficulty, the tears I was keeping bursting out of me with great force.
Ethan comforted me, his hand rubbing against my back soothingly. By the time I calmed down, we were in what I thought was his house.
“Do you mind staying here for a few minutes before we head to your house?” He asked, his tone hesitant.
“Can…can I stay here for a few days?” I questioned, sniffling as I looked at him.
“Sure, I have a spare room. Come on, let's go inside” he said as he stepped out of his car.
I did the same, my eyes taking in his building. It was nothing like Knight's mansion but it was pretty impressive and secluded.
I followed him into his house, thesoace of his living room warm as I stepped into it.
It was a bachelor's pad truly. The kitchen looked too clean, the sitting room filled with pillows and a duvet.
“What do you want? You hungry or you want to sleep?” He asked, offering me a cup of water.
I gulped it down, finishing the content of the cup. I had no idea my throat was that parched until he gave me the water.
“I would sleep, thank you” I let out, my voice coming out as a whisper. He led me to the spare room past the living room and the sitting room.
I caught a glimpse of his room, right beside it was the spare room. He pushed it open, letting me enter before he did after me.
“It isn't much, I hope you feel comfortable here” he let out, nervousness lacing his words.
“It is perfect, thank you. I am so grateful you came to get me” I mumbled out, my lips unable to offer him a smile.
He simply looked at me for a while before he nodded at me. “If you need anything, I am just right next door to you” he said before he stepped out of the room.
I walked towards the bed, feeling as if I was walking under water. I curled up on the bedspread, not bothering to enter into the duvet.
Tears slipped out of my eyes, wetting the bed covering underneath my body.
I didn't know how I could ever recover from the weight of the knowledge I knew now.
