Chapter 151 CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-ONE: THE NURSERY

Chapter 151 CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-ONE: THE NURSERY
ZARA
“Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Knight. You are pregnant."
Those were not the words I expected to hear from the doctor sitting in front of us. My heart pounded in my chest. I was not sure what to feel.
On one hand, I just became chairwoman, and if I got pregnant now, it would only validate the claims of the board women. And on the other hand, it's something Aiden and I had been talking about.
I just didn't think it would happen this soon.
I put my hand on my stomach. Suddenly, I wanted to do everything in the world to protect my baby. Rylan was roaming free, and now the thought of him doing anything to harm the baby was scary.
Aiden took my hand and smiled at me. “How wonderful you are," he murmured with joy. His eyes were big and wide. His lips parted, and his skin slightly flushed with excitement.
“You know I didn't do it alone now, do you?”
“I know, but…”
“Just goes to show how wonderful you are, too." I grabbed his face and kissed his lips.
He occupied the seat between us, and I scooted over, putting my head over his shoulder and my legs over one of his thighs. He pulled me closer and wrapped his hands around me.
As soon as we get home, he carries me in. “You know I can walk, right?” I said, trying to struggle out of his grip.
“I do," he nodded.
“So why…?”
“Is there a rule that says I can't pamper my wife?”
“There is no such rule," I said, hanging onto his neck as his strong arms left me suspended in the air.
"Well, isn't that a good thing?” he asked as he gently put me down on the couch. He bent in front of me and, with shaky hands, touched my stomach. His eyes were lined with joy.
“From now on, you are not allowed to touch anything in the house," he said, as if he had allowed me to do chores before.
He took out his phone and began to make calls. “Leo, I want a housekeeper, a nutritionist, and a personal maid to report to the house tomorrow."
I raised my eyebrow at him and tried to stand up, but he held my shoulder and gently helped me back into my seat.
“Also a nurse," he added.
“We don't need all of that," I said, hoping Leo would hear and not bother himself with it. He shot me a glare before he continued with Leo.
“Have them come in for an interview…my wife would choose."
I rolled my eyes at him. He squatted down to my level. “Is there anything else I am forgetting?" he asked, and I shook my head.
“The baby is the size of a pea now. There is really no need to…”
“This is not just about the baby. You are involved too." He grabbed my hands and let out a sigh. “Pregnancy is hardest on the mother. I have to do everything I can to make sure that you are safe."
I just couldn't imagine a life without him right now. I have come to lean on him a little too much. I grabbed his neck and kissed him deeply. The kiss intensified with every second.
He suddenly pulled away, restraint in his eyes and hands on my shoulders as he panted. “Zara, we should not…”
“Why? Because it is bad for the baby?” I pouted. I couldn't believe the baby was already getting preferential treatment, and they weren't even born yet.
“No, because we don't know if it's safe for you." He sat beside me, ruffled my hair, and then pinched my cheeks. “You are always my number one, Zara. I promise."
"Promise accepted," I murmured.
An idea struck me. I want everyone in my life to know about the baby. "Maybe we should invite some people over for dinner."
“You want to tell people about it already?”
“I mean, the whole world would find out soon anyway. I just don't want our family finding out at the same time."
“Just make the list and leave the details to me."
“My parents, your dad, Leo, Zoey, Amara and her husband, and Henry," I listed out. “Is there anyone you would like to invite?”
He stroked his chin and then shook his head. “Your list is complete."
While Aiden worked on both the dinner and catching Rylan, who was continuously sending black roses to the house and the office. I was busy with transitioning into all of my dad’s roles.
“We have to increase our revenue by…” The words stopped in my throat when a gag went up and cut off my breath supply.
I clamped my hand over my mouth and pushed my head forward. The morning sickness had been too bad. I looked at the swarm of eyes looking at me. Zoey tried to move forward, but I stopped her.
If they thought I was sick, then the mockery began from them. "It's fine," I said, trying to play it off when another wave of nausea hit me.
"Mrs. Knight, do you need water?” she offered.
I stared at the lemon water in the tumbler that Aidne had prepared. “It might help with the nausea," he said.
He insisted I come with a nurse, but then that would sound the alarm over every door. I didn't need people speculating about it this soon.
I took a sip, and it didn't help take it all away at once, but at least I felt better. I resume the meeting, trying to hide how all I wanted to do was curl up with a blanket up to my neck.
“Are you okay, ma'am?" Zoey asked on the elevator ride back to our office. She has worked with me from my first director position to now. She knew me inside out. I rarely got sick.
“If you are sick, we can visit the hospital."
“I am fine. The meetings are back-to-back. I am not sure if I can fully keep up."
She nodded with skepticism in her eyes. “I am fine," I reassured her. I needed it more than she did, though.
My phone pinged with a message from Ascure Line. It was a video of a nursery, and then suddenly it blew up. A breath caught in my throat.
‘Rylan knew.'
All of the alarms in my mind went off. He knew. The only people who knew, aside from Aiden and me, were the staff living with us. So either Rylan had somehow hacked into our house, or someone was working with him.
My entire body was shaky from his message. He was direct. He knew that this baby had a better chance at the Knight fortune than he did, and he was ready to risk it all.
I sent the message to Aiden, and he called instantly.
“I will have my men take you to a secure location. Maybe the Knight's main estate," he said without any formalities.
“But Aiden…”
“No buts, Zara. I am terrified of what he would do."
“I can find my way. Let's not draw a crowd," I said, picking up my things and walking to the door.
“You'll be alone."
“I will have Zoey with me, and your men can follow closely behind."
He knew I was not going to back down, so he sighed. "Be safe, Z. I will meet you there soon."
I stopped before I opened the door. I know we might be overreacting, but I was not going to give him a chance to ruin my family and me.
“Rylan, you are dead meat."
