Chapter 141 CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-ONE: EASY WITH YOU IN IT.
ZARA
Although the living room area was fully furnished, there were still a lot of rooms and corners that needed to be finished.
“We can just buy out a showroom. Something that fits your vibe."
I rolled my eyes as we scrolled through the website of a popular furniture store. He had brought a tablet into bed and asked me to pick anything out. It was almost like he was itching to spend the money.
“We are not buying random pieces for our home." I shook my head as I continued scrolling. I landed on a piece. It was the stool the kid had at the bar where we first met. It reminded me of that night.
"Like this," I said.
He was already purchasing the soul before I could tell him why it was so important to me.
“They can have it here by evening," he said. I shook my head at him, and he smiled.
“I think it would go well in the kitchen. What do you think?”
“I think it's perfect for the kitchen. You can sit on it and watch me cook for you."
“I like the sound of that."
We finally made it out of bed. We got ready for work. I insisted on going in by myself, but for some reason, he refused, insisting he had to drop me off by himself.
He did not need to show off. After last night with the Lysandra case and the ring display, we both didn't need to explain our relationship to anyone. It was clear.
The board, which was usually so resistant to me, actually came over to the office to say hello. It was as if something had suddenly changed between us, and they weren't even hiding it.
They were being this nice because they knew for real now that I was being backed by Aiden. Before, I was just married to a random man.
Now they knew it was Aidne Knight. Things had changed. They wanted to get on my good side. So they stayed relevant.
As much as I liked living with the victory of being his wife. I knew the respect wouldn't last long. I had to assert my dominance by sorting out a new project as soon as possible.
I had wasted time with the London expansion when I knew we weren't ready at all.
"Ms…or should I say, Mrs Knight?” Zoey was standing in front of me. In her hand was a thick binder, the kind that made you physically exhausted.
I stroked my chin as I thought. Aidne had never pushed me to change my name, and even when I stayed as a Crawford, he was okay with it.
I didn't change it before because I was sure there was a divorce lurking somewhere, but now… I suddenly realised we hadn't torn up the contract from the start of our marriage.
I had to rip it to shreds the first chance I got tonight.
“Mrs Knight," I said, ready to accept him. After all, we were married.
“Mrs Knight, you have a delivery from the Knight group." She dropped the folder on the table.
“For me?”
She nodded, and I gasped. I had expected her to say this was for her work. “From Aidne?” I confirmed, and she shook her head.
"No, ma'am, from the older Mr Knight."
“And what is in it?” I asked. I felt my heart beat in my chest. I didn't even know what I was so afraid of, but what if Alexander was pulling another kind of string this time?
"It's a list of all the business moguls, kings, prime ministers, and rival CEOs who would be attending your wedding."
“My wedding?” I pointed to myself. I couldn't even hide how shocked I was to hear that.
Aiden had proposed, but we had not even started talking about planning a real wedding yet, and his father was already ten steps ahead.
Zoey tapped on the folder and forced a smile. "It's a preliminary guest list," she added.
I stared at the thick Manila folder and then back up at her. “What do you want me to do with it?” she asked. “The instructions asked that we tick off the right guest and respond soon."
“You don't have to worry yourself with that. I will handle it," I said. She nodded and excused herself from the room.
“I am sorry, my love. " Those were Aiden’s first words when his call connected. “I just heard from my father’s assistant about the guest list. I will speak to him and handle this."
“I don't need something loud and flashy to marry you."
"Of course, Zara, this is a wedding. Not a circus," he added.
I let out a sigh of relief to know we were on the same page about it. "You don't have to worry; I will sort things out with Father," he added.
“I am not trying to hurt his feelings, but I just want a ceremony where we would both be happy about it," I whispered into the phone.
"Don't worry, I will make sure he doesn't overstep." He sounded like he was going to rain hell down on his father already.
I smiled at the thought of him taking care of me without me having to push for it.

I had been involved in the intrusion of paparazzi before, but it had never been this big. We couldn't even eat a single fry without someone coming up to ask for either a picture or an autograph.
Sone Veen went as far as asking if either of us could kiss or hug them.
“I didn't know it was this hard to get done with my husband," I murmured as we sat in the car, trying to gobble down the noodles from the carton box we both held.
“I will have Leo do something about it tomorrow," he said, wiping off the sauce from my lips. “I am sorry."
“You shouldn't be. You are also a victim of hers. "I blinked rapidly.
“I should have thought it through and…”
“You can't always control everything. I don't need a husband who can control everything. "I need a husband who can be my husband."
He closed his eyes and pressed them together. "Right," he whispered as he nodded. “You are right. I am sure it would fizzle out within a few days."
"People would soon get something new to be excited about," I shrugged.

My phone chimed with a message from Ethan. Since I left London, I have not heard a peep from him. It was almost as if he had vanished from the face of the earth, and suddenly, he was sending me a message again.
‘I moved to London, Zara; I thought there could be a future for us there, and I am still holding onto the thought of it in the future. The truth is that the Crawford building is still waiting for you to come back and rule it.’
‘Dont let the Knights bury your ambition.'
Attached to his message was a picture of the joint hub. Only this time, the only name on the building was the Crawford Group.
That was strange.
“Did you sell the London hub?”
“I did," Aiden nodded. “It was too small; I got something bigger with the hopes that by the time you are ready to expand it, it will be waiting for you."
“I don't need you to do these things."
“I know," he nodded. “I just want to make your life as easy as it can be."
I smiled and grabbed his hand. “My life is already easy, and it is all because I have you."
