Chapter 85 Make Her Jealous

Chapter 85 Make Her Jealous

"Are you here looking for Samuel?"

Lily didn't know how to answer.

She couldn't exactly say she was here to follow Samuel, could she?

Hazel smiled. "Looks like you are. But you're in the wrong place. Samuel is in the conference room right now, not here."

Hazel pointed to a building in the distance. "In that building over there. But he's probably still in a meeting, so you might not be able to see him."

Lily looked in the direction she was pointing, wondering whether she should go check it out.

Hazel watched her conflicted expression, a faint smile playing at the corners of her mouth.

Such an innocent girl.

No wonder David liked her.

Too bad...

Innocent people rarely lasted long.

"Um... thank you," Lily said politely, preparing to leave.

But Hazel stopped her. "Ms. Martin, can I ask you a question?"

"What question?"

"Are you and Samuel close?"

The question was so abrupt that it left Lily at a loss.

"We're okay," she said vaguely.

"Really? That's good. Samuel may have a cold personality, but he treats people he cares about very well. If you can win his heart, that's your good fortune."

Lily caught the sour note in her words.

A woman's instinct told her that Hazel definitely liked Samuel.

"However..." Hazel's tone shifted, "Samuel is so outstanding, he has no shortage of excellent women around him. If Ms. Martin wants to keep him, you'll need to put in some effort."

The words were loaded with meaning, making Lily very uncomfortable.

"My relationship with Samuel is none of your concern," she said coldly.

Hazel's smile deepened. "I'm just giving you friendly advice. After all, I've known Samuel for so many years. I probably understand him much better than you, his newlywed wife."

Lily was irritated by her words.

Hazel was clearly marking her territory!

Just as the tension between them reached a breaking point, Andrew suddenly shouted in the surveillance room.

"Oh no! Hazel's confronting Lily!"

He pointed at the screen, where the two women faced off, his expression changing.

"David's still in the reception room, I'll go get him!"

Andrew rushed out of the surveillance room, heading straight for the reception room.

But the reception room was already empty—David wasn't there.

"Damn it, where did David go?"

He pulled out his phone and quickly called David.

"Hello, David, where are you?"

"In the hallway. What's wrong?" David's voice came through.

"Hazel's confronting Lily! They're on the tree-lined path on the east side right now, and it doesn't look good!"

David's voice grew serious. "I'll head over right away. Andrew, put on my clothes and go to the Jones Group now."

He hung up and walked quickly toward the east-side path.

A few minutes later, he saw the two figures in the distance—Lily and Hazel standing face to face.

David was about to walk over when Hazel suddenly turned and saw him. Her eyes lit up, and she immediately showed a gentle smile, walking toward him.

"Samuel, you're here."

Lily also noticed Samuel's arrival. She frowned—how many sisters did this Samuel have anyway!

Hazel walked up to David and naturally linked her arm through his. David frowned, wanting to pull his arm back.

But Hazel held on tighter.

She leaned close to his ear and said in a low voice, "Don't move. This is a good opportunity to test whether Lily really likes you. If she gets jealous seeing us this close, it means she really cares about you."

David froze.

A test?

He looked at Lily and found her staring at them with wide eyes, her face somewhat pale.

That expression...

It did look like jealousy.

A strange emotion surged in David's heart.

He wanted to see Lily jealous, wanted to see her upset because she cared about him...

That way, it would prove she had feelings for him.

"Okay."

A flash of triumph crossed Hazel's eyes.

She took hold of David's arm and walked toward Lily.

"Ms. Martin, let me properly introduce myself. My name is Hazel. I'm Samuel's..." She deliberately paused, then smiled and said, "sister."

Sister?

Just now she was a friend, and now she's suddenly a sister!

What kind of sister would hold her brother's arm like that?

What kind of sister would look at her brother with such possessive eyes?

More importantly, Samuel didn't refuse. Didn't he dislike being touched by women? Before, when asked to help carry Olivia on his back, he was completely unwilling and had Willie do it instead.

Now, how could he be willing to walk arm-in-arm with this woman?

So it was just because he hadn't met someone he liked.

Sister?

Was he a middle schooler? A man in his thirties playing this brother-sister game!

Disgusting!

Lily's heart felt like it had been stabbed hard.

It hurt.

It hurt a lot.

But in front of her contract husband and his lover, she absolutely couldn't show weakness!

So Lily's face grew even colder.

David noticed her cold expression, his heart stirring. She seemed completely indifferent.

"Lily, what are you doing here?"

Lily froze, her mind racing.

She couldn't say she was here, following him, could she?

"I... I came to see the exhibition. I heard Tranquil Springs Retreat has a design exhibition today, and I wanted to come learn something."

Hazel smiled. "I thought you were here looking for Samuel. I also like design, so why don't we go see it together? Samuel knows a lot about design, too. We can all go together."

David frowned.

He had wanted to accompany Lily alone, but didn't want Hazel staying here. He hinted, "Hazel, don't you have something to do?"

"It's fine, no rush."

Hazel wouldn't let go. She leaned close to David's ear and said in a low voice, "David, this level of testing isn't enough to see Lily's true feelings. If she really cared about you, seeing us this close would definitely get a reaction. But look at her now—aside from being a bit surprised at first, she's already calm again. What does that mean? It means she doesn't have you in her heart at all!"

David's heart sank.

Indeed...

Lily looked very calm now, not at all like she was jealous.

Did she really have no feelings for him?

Hazel continued, "So we need to keep testing her. David, you have to trust me. Only this way can you see a person's true heart."

David hesitated, but finally nodded.

"Alright."

Hazel smiled with satisfaction.

"Then let's go together," she said to Lily. "Ms. Martin doesn't mind, right?"

Lily bit her lip.

Her purpose in coming today was to keep an eye on Samuel and see if he really was David.

Now that she had a chance to follow him, she couldn't pass it up.
