Chapter 63 Silver Portion

Chapter 63 Silver Portion
Sera’s POV

The chamber had stopped shaking, but nobody looked relieved.

Dust still drifted through the air, settling over broken stone and shattered lanterns. My pulse hammered so loudly, I was panicking. While I knelt beside Caden, my hands trembled so badly I couldn't keep them still.

Then Tobias's gaze dropped to my arms. His expression changed immediately.

"Sera."

The tone of his voice made everybody turn. Maera moved first.

I looked down. The silver lines weren't stopping at my wrists anymore.

They had spread past my elbows and were winding higher beneath my skin, brighter than before. The glow pulsed with every beat of my heart.

My stomach dropped.

"Oh my fucking—"

“Sera, please calm down. You can't afford to throw a fit right now.” My mother inhaled sharply.

Damien crouched beside me, staring openly now.

"They weren't this far before."

"No," Tobias said grimly. "They weren't."

The look on everybody's faces told me more than their words ever could.

I pushed myself to my feet slowly. Maera stepped forward. "The Blood Moon is closer than we thought."

I swallowed. "How close?"

"Days." The words made me stagger back before I got my stance.

"We expected more time," Tobias said. "But we were wrong."

A bitter laugh escaped me. "That seems to happen a lot lately."

Tobias looked toward Maera. "The training must be completed."

I closed my eyes briefly, trying to calm my raging nerves. When I opened them again, Tobias was already reaching into the inner pocket of his coat.

"What are you doing?"

"I have something."

Maera looked surprised. "You kept it?"

"I hoped I wouldn't need it." Tobias pulled out a small dark vial filled with silver liquid that shimmered faintly under the lantern light.

I stared at it immediately.

"What is that?" My eyebrows rose.

"A stabilizer."

"You have a magical emergency potion and you're only mentioning it now?"

"It isn't magic, dumb dumb,”
A corner of Maera's mouth twitched despite the tension.

Tobias held the vial carefully. "It won't solve the problem," he said. "But it can calm the power surging through your body long enough for you to complete your training."

I looked at the liquid, then at the glowing marks crawling up my arms.

"And if it doesn't work?"
