Chapter 62 Stop Looking At Me

Chapter 62 Stop Looking At Me

Sera’s POV

I stared at my arms in complete horror.

The marks glowed faintly beneath my skin, thin silver lines stretching from my wrists upward like veins made of light. They moved slowly too, shifting every few seconds before settling again.

“No no no—”

I rubbed aggressively at one mark but nothing happened.

The room stayed dark except for the weak lantern near the doorway where Damien still sat awake. He noticed movement instantly and turned toward me.

Then his entire expression changed.

“Sera?”

I pulled my sleeves down immediately. “It’s nothing.”

He stood already. “What happened?”

“Nothing happened.”

“Sera.”

His voice dropped lower that time to a more serious tone.

And unfortunately my body reacted to that tone now because apparently the bond enjoyed ruining my emotional stability.

I hated everything.

He crossed the room before I could stop him. “Look at me.”

“I’d rather not.”

“Why?”

That definitely got everybody’s attention.

Caden jerked awake instantly from the other side of the room. “What happened?”

“She’s hiding something,” Damien answered.

“No need to act like a traitor,” I muttered.

“I’m literally trying to help you.”

Maera woke next and immediately looked irritated about existing at this hour. “Why is everybody awake?”

“Because your favorite hybrid is glowing,” Caden said sleepily.

I slowly looked toward him. “Excuse me?”

His eyes widened slightly. “Oh wow, I guessed correctly.”

Everybody looked at me now.

“Show me,” Maera said immediately.

“It’s probably nothing.”

“Sera, I said show me,”

“I’m emotionally exhausted and close to violence.”

“Then definitely show us your arms,” Tobias said from near the doorway.

Slowly, reluctantly, I pushed my sleeves upward. The silver marks glowed brighter instantly. My mother inhaled sharply.

Caden sat upright too fast again. “What the hell is that?”

Maera stepped closer carefully, studying the marks without touching them. “When did this start?”

“I woke up like this.”

“That sentence should never apply to supernatural glowing.”

Damien crouched beside the bed slightly, his attention fixed completely on my arms. “Does it hurt?”

I looked down again. “Not really,” I swallowed carefully. “It feels… hot.”

Tobias nodded once. “The bond instability is getting stronger.”

I looked up immediately. “Is this because of the mate bond?”

“Partly.”

“What do you mean by partly?”

“There are multiple things affecting your power.”

“Can something affect me normally for once?”

Caden moved closer before wincing sharply from his injuries again.

Then Tobias ruined the moment again.

“The marks will spread.”

Everybody looked at him sharply.

I blinked. “What?”

“They won’t stop at your arms.”

Ice slid slowly down my spine. “How do we stop it?”

“You stabilize the bond.”

The room became awkward immediately. I wanted to disappear underground permanently.

My mother looked away first to hide her tears before she rushed to embrace me.

Caden rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly while Damien stayed frustratingly calm beside me.

I folded my arms tighter. “Can everybody stop reacting like this?”

Maera sighed softly afterward. “The unstable bond is pulling energy in opposite directions.”

“I still don’t fully understand why choosing matters this much.”

“Because your power connects emotionally,” Tobias explained. “The longer the conflict continues, the harder your body fights itself.”

Damien finally spoke quietly. “Then we help her through it.”

My chest tightened immediately, because he said it so simply.

Caden leaned forward slightly despite the pain obvious on his face. “What happens if the marks keep spreading?”

Nobody answered fast enough.I looked between all of them slowly.

“Oh no.”

Maera exhaled carefully. “Your powers become unstable permanently.”

The room felt colder instantly. I looked back down at the glowing lines on my skin again.

Fear crawled slowly into my stomach after that. I wasn't exactly scared for myself but of what I could do.

The pulse through the forest, every loss of control already caused damage.

What would happen if this got worse? My breathing changed slightly without me realizing.

“I need air.”

“We’re underground,” Terry reminded me.

“Then I need different underground air!”

Nobody stopped me when I stormed out of the room. Probably because everybody sensed I was close to losing it completely.

The tunnels stretched quieter outside the sleeping chambers, lanterns flickering softly against ancient walls while underground water echoed through everything.

I pressed both hands against my face roughly. This was too much.

Every single day brought another terrifying problem.
Another reason I might hurt somebody accidentally.

My father was alive but missing.

Hunters wanted me, ancient factions wanted my power.

And now my body was apparently turning into a supernatural warning sign because I couldn’t choose between two mates.

Footsteps approached behind me eventually.

I didn’t turn around.

“Go away,” I muttered.

“You say that to everybody now,” Damien replied quietly.

I exhaled hard. “You should be resting.”

“So should you.”
He stopped beside me near the stone railing overlooking the underground river below.

For a minute neither of us spoke, which somehow felt easier than talking.

Then quietly, he asked, “Are you scared? You hide fear badly.”

I laughed weakly.“That’s rude.”
I leaned harder against the railing. “I don’t know what’s happening to me anymore.”

“You’re adapting.”

“Thank you for validating me emotionally.”

A small smile touched his face briefly before fading again. Then his expression turned serious.

“You’re carrying too much alone.”

My chest tightened instantly.

“Everybody keeps saying that while also hiding information from me.”

“We’re trying to protect you.”

“I’m tired of being protected.” I looked away immediately.

“You looked terrified when Caden collapsed yesterday,” Damien continued softly.

“Of course I did.”

“And when the hunters attacked, your first instinct was still protecting people.”

“That doesn’t mean I know what I’m doing.”

“No,” he admitted. “But it means your heart is still yours.”

Before I could answer, another emotion slammed into me suddenly. I staggered backward immediately.

Damien caught my arm instantly. “Sera?”

My chest tightened painfully.

Another emotion crashed into me before I recovered from the first one. I shoved Damien backward accidentally.

“Don’t touch me right now.”

His expression changed immediately. “What’s wrong?”

“I can feel it.”

“Feel what?”

Before I answered, Caden’s voice echoed from farther down the corridor.

“They’re still searching aboveground.”

He walked toward us visibly irritated already.

“There are hunters near the eastern ridges now,” he continued. “They’re spreading farther.”

And suddenly I realized it.

The anger earlier? It belonged to Caden. Then the fear that came right after, belonged to Damien.

The emotions weren’t staying separate anymore. Oh goddess.

I grabbed my head immediately.

“Sera?” Damien stepped forward again carefully.

“Stop following me.”

Both of them froze on the spot, already noticing something from my energy.

“Stop looking at me like I’m already breaking,” I snapped.

The tunnel went completely still afterward. Because I heard my own voice.
The glowing marks across my arms flared violently.

Then the stone wall beside us cracked open with a deafening sound.
