Chapter 309: Who Is Scheming Against Whom Is Still Uncertain
The more Lily thought about it, the more she felt tonight's celebration dinner probably wouldn't be that simple.
But the team members were all pretty happy. After all, the Velvet Vine wasn't a place just anyone could go to.
When Lily got back to the dorm, Zoey was really excited since she'd never been to The Velvet Vine for dinner.
After Emily heard about it, she looked at Lily and said quietly, "Let me check around. Going to The Velvet Vine for dinner is probably related to the Harper family. You need to be careful."
Most likely, Olivia was up to something behind the scenes.
Lily nodded. "I figured as much."
"But the Harper family hasn't been doing so well these past two years either. Otherwise, why would they be so desperate to marry Olivia off to the Gonzalez family? Too bad Dennis doesn't like Olivia. That woman has always been good at pretending - she's nothing compared to you."
Emily used to be misunderstood in social circles because of her leg length difference, but that also meant she heard a lot of gossip and secrets.
Lily smiled. Ever since she took Emily to The Velvet Vine last time, their relationship had gotten much better.
"Got it."
"This is my membership card for The Velvet Vine. I don't need it since I can just use facial recognition, but you might need it."
Having been in wealthy circles for so many years, Emily could probably guess what Olivia was planning to do.
Lily glanced at it and took it directly. "Thanks."
Since Emily had offered, she didn't hold back.
At this point, after Zoey came out of the bathroom in fresh clothes, Lily met up with the team members from the base, and they all headed to The Velvet Vine together.
When everyone got to the room, they saw several people already sitting inside drinking. They hadn't waited for them at all.
Seeing this, Lily's brow furrowed instinctively.
At this point, the school leader stood up and greeted Lily. "Lily, you're finally here. We've been waiting for you. Come over, let me introduce you - these are all sponsors from the Harper family's side."
Lily's expression was already starting to look bad.
After everyone sat down, their expressions weren't quite right either.
Those middle-aged men held up their wine glasses. "Congratulations on your victory today. Fill up the glasses and drink with us."
But Lily pressed down on her own glass. "We're all still students and don't drink alcohol. We'll just have soft drinks."
After Lily said this, the atmosphere in the private room became quite stiff.
The other side said coldly, "You won't even show the Harper family this basic respect?"
"I've seen plenty of college students like you. You're all adults now - you should learn to drink and socialize. Don't you understand basic manners?"
The school leader said to Lily from the side, "The Harper family has been a partner for so many years after all. You should show them that much respect. Just drink a little with them, it's no big deal."
"I never begged the Harper family to sponsor us in the first place!" Lily refused directly.
Lily could see what kind of dinner this was. Olivia really knew how to make things disgusting.
Seeing how stubborn Lily was, the leader stopped talking to her and instead pulled Zoey and Poppy to sit next to the middle-aged men. "You two drink a little with them. We won't drink too much."
Even though that's what he said, he still filled their glasses with red wine and guilt-tripped them into drinking.
Poppy couldn't refuse and could only step forward to drink, even drinking Zoey's wine for her.
The middle-aged investors nearby smiled. "The veterans from the base really know the rules. Have another glass."
Zoey didn't want Poppy to drink for her, so she took the wine glass herself. "I'm not good at drinking, so I'll just have a little bit."
The middle-aged man next to Zoey put his hand on her chair and leaned closer. "If you don't know how to drink, I'll teach you."
Seeing the situation spiral, Lily stood up abruptly. She walked straight to Zoey's side and slapped the man's hand away.
The man's expression changed instantly. "What are you doing? Don't think just because you're the team captain you can be so arrogant."
"I recorded the whole thing," Lily said coldly, holding up her phone. "Do you want to bet I can send you to jail for sexual harassment?"
Lily pulled Zoey up directly. "Since we can't eat this meal together with you people, we'll open a new private room."
"Lily, you think this is just any place where you can open a private room whenever you want?"
At this moment, Olivia and Samantha walked in together.
After these two appeared, the middle-aged men in the room became much more restrained.
Olivia picked up a wine glass. "Why is Ms. Roberts so angry? Everyone drinks when they go out to socialize."
Lily filled Olivia's wine glass directly. "If that's the case, then Ms. Harper should finish drinking first before talking."
Samantha said angrily, "Lily, who do you think you are to make Olivia drink? If she wasn't being generous, you wouldn't even be qualified to eat at The Velvet Vine."
Lily completely ignored Samantha and looked at Olivia instead. "Those people just now are all employees of the Harper Group, right? One of them sexually harassed my classmate. If this gets exposed, the Harper family's reputation will take another nosedive."
After Lily finished speaking, the middle-aged man said angrily and embarrassedly, "Don't talk nonsense. I didn't touch anyone."
"But I recorded evidence." Lily waved her phone, then looked at Olivia. "Do you like this gift?"
Olivia's expression became a bit ugly. She turned to look at the middle-aged man and slapped him across the face. "Apologize."
Samantha was a bit confused. "Olivia, why apologize? These people have no money. Maybe they're trying to find rich men and came on to him themselves?"
"Shut up!"
Olivia stopped Samantha from talking. She looked at Lily warily. If it were someone else, maybe she wouldn't take it seriously, but Lily had dared to threaten Samantha with those videos before. Now that she knew Dennis's identity, she would only be more arrogant.
Lily smiled. "Ms. Harper, you're a smart person. As long as he sincerely apologizes, we'll let this matter go."
The middle-aged man had no choice but to apologize to Zoey.
With this, the atmosphere in the private room became very bad.
Olivia's tone was sharp. "You've ruined today's celebration dinner with your scene."
"The celebration dinner hasn't even started yet. I'll open another room next door." After Lily finished speaking, she called over a server.
Samantha snorted coldly. "This is The Velvet Vine. You think just anyone can come here to eat? If it weren't for my sister Olivia, you couldn't even get through the door of The Velvet Vine."
Olivia's eyes held some mockery as she said to the server, "Why be so stubborn? Just sit down and eat together."
Lily directly took out the membership card Emily had given her. She hadn't expected it would actually come in handy.
Samantha's sharp eyes caught a glimpse. "Lily, with your status, how could you possibly have a membership card for The Velvet Vine? Did you steal it, or buy it from a secondhand website?"
When Olivia saw that card, she felt a bit uncomfortable. Could it be Dennis's?
The server looked at Lily hesitantly. "Is this card yours?"
"No."
"If it's not the owner's card, we need to verify the identity with the owner."
Lily took out her phone to call Emily, but no one answered.
Samantha said smugly, "See, I told you. This membership card definitely came from a shady source. She stole it."
At this moment, the restaurant manager hurried over.
Samantha pointed an accusing finger at Lily. "Manager, you came at the right time. She stole someone's membership card to to get in. Kick her out!"
But the manager ignored Samantha entirely. He bowed respectfully beside Lily. "I'm sorry, Ms. Roberts. The server is new and doesn't recognize you. The private room has been reserved for you all along—it's the top VIP room upstairs."
Olivia felt the blood drain from her face. How could this be possible?
