Chapter 308: Olivia's Schemes Exposed

Lily's expression remained very calm as she noticed the change in Olivia's face.

In just a few seconds, Olivia's expression went from embarrassed to angry, and then quickly returned to calm.

Lily had to admire her ability to control her expressions.

Last time at the coffee shop, she had been fooled by Olivia.

The smile on Olivia's face faded, and her tone carried a hint of arrogance. "But Dennis and I have always been a good match in terms of family background. You're different, though. He even hid his real identity from you. How sincere can he really be with you?"

On hearing these words, Lily naturally felt upset.

She laughed coldly. "Ms. Harper, are you done pretending now?"

Olivia's eyes flashed with anger. "Pretending? What am I pretending? Everything I told you before was for your own good. Otherwise, do you really think Cinderella can become a princess one day?"

"But Ms. Harper, you've been scheming for so many years, wasn't it all just to marry a richer husband? But too bad you failed in the end, so now you can only play dirty tricks to drive a wedge between Dennis and me." After hearing Celeste clarify yesterday that there was no engagement between Dennis and Olivia, Lily had pretty much figured out that Olivia was behind everything.

After all, when they ran into each other at The Velvet Vine that day, Olivia was there too. She had known about her relationship with Dennis since then.

From that phone call onwards, Olivia had started setting things up.

But the fact that Olivia knew Dennis's phone password made Lily feel a bit uncomfortable.

Olivia's expression instantly darkened. This bitch Lily was actually pretty smart.

Olivia lowered her voice. "So what? He didn't even tell you his real identity - isn't it because he's afraid you'll cling to him? You must have asked him about it by now, right? It won't be long before he starts giving you the cold shoulder. After all, he could never marry you."

Olivia said all this, but seeing Lily's unmoved expression, her heart sank.

Lily suddenly laughed out loud, and the mockery in her eyes instantly stung Olivia.

Olivia's voice became much sharper. "What's with that attitude?"

"Ms. Harper, you definitely didn't look in a mirror when you were talking just now. Your jealousy is so obvious, even that thick foundation can't cover it up."

Lily's casual remark directly enraged Olivia.

"Lily, don't get too cocky. You're not good enough for the Gonzalez family's status. Mrs. Celeste Gonzalez and Mrs. Odette Gonzalez will never approve of you being with him."

The only thing Olivia could use to pressure Lily was the matching family status.

Lily smiled faintly. "That's something I should worry about; it has nothing to do with you. You came to find me in such a hurry just to test how things are between Dennis and me right now, and whether I'll continue to be with him, right?"

She wouldn't be stupid enough to fall for it this time.

Olivia gritted her teeth in anger. "Ms. Roberts, you really are as unlikeable as the rumors say."

"Ms. Harper is also just like the rumors say—smooth-talking and good with words. You can make lies sound like truth, and you even tried to label me as a homewrecker. I'm not as shameless as you!"

Lily wasn't being polite anymore.

After all, Olivia had schemed against her before and made her so sad and hurt.

Now that she had come to her senses and realized it was all Olivia's doing.

Olivia snorted coldly. "Dennis and I have known each other since childhood. Our two families have been discussing engagement all along."

"You can only fool yourself with these words. The truth is, the Harper family wants to cozy up to the Gonzalez family. You're the one who wants to marry Dennis, but he's never been interested in you and doesn't like you."

Olivia was hit where it hurt by Lily's words. She got so angry that she raised her hand to slap Lily.

Lily grabbed Olivia's wrist. "What, did the truth hurt?"

"Lily, you uneducated bitch, how dare you have designs on Dennis. Look at yourself - both parents dead, you have nothing..."

Lily tightened her grip slightly, and Olivia was in too much pain to continue speaking.

Her eyes were cold. "You have everything, but Dennis still doesn't like you. You should look for the reason in yourself!"

She let go and pushed Olivia away. "Ms. Harper, if you want to keep making trouble, I'll be happy to oblige. I still have plenty of dirt on your sister."

Lily still had dirt on Samantha. If it got exposed, not only would Samantha be in trouble, but the Harper family would also become a laughingstock.

Olivia's expression changed dramatically. She had originally thought this Lily was a woman from a small place who would be easy to deal with, but it turned out she wasn't.

Finally, Olivia said coldly, "Everyone in the Roberts family is scheming to climb up the social ladder. Your brother David even went so far as to become a live-in son-in-law for the West family. He really gives up your dignity for power."

"You're absolutely right. After all, Ms. Harper's lying behavior at the coffee shop was pretty shameless, too."

Lily didn't care at all about Olivia badmouthing the Roberts family.

She saw that the competition was about to start, so she turned and left to go backstage to prepare.

Olivia's hand gripped her designer bag tightly as she stared at Lily's back: 'Bitch, this isn't over!'

Lily went backstage and met up with her teammates.

Walter, as the person with the second-best skills on the team, was discussing tactics for the upcoming match with everyone, as well as various emergency situations.

Lily watched from the side and suddenly felt confident they would win this competition.

When the competition started, Lily led the team out. Many fans outside were holding signs with her name on them.

Most of the cameras were focused on Lily. After all, as a popular game streamer with excellent gaming skills, she attracted a lot of attention.

During the match, Lily and Walter worked together with perfect coordination, and they steadily won this round of the competition.

The audience erupted in intense applause and screams.

Lily had a smile on her face. She wasn't surprised by this result - after all, the preliminary rounds were relatively simple.

After winning the match, reporters came to interview Lily. "Everyone is currently very interested in one question - people have noticed that SweetLemon often plays games with a player whose username is TurnBackTime. Is this person your boyfriend?"

Lily paused and said, "No."

He used to be, but not anymore.

The reporter immediately asked Walter next to her, "You two work together so well, and you've been friends who train together often. Has there really been no romantic feelings developing?"

Walter was stumped by this question. He glanced at Lily beside him, then smiled and said, "We're currently just teammates with good coordination."

Lily knew the reporter had mistaken Walter for Dennis, since they had the same game name.

After the interview ended, Lily took the team members back to school and arranged a celebration dinner for the evening.

But when they got back to school, the leader personally came to find Lily. "The celebration dinner location has been set for tonight - at The Velvet Vine."

Everyone was shocked. "At The Velvet Vine? That restaurant that's rumored to be very expensive and only members can enter?"

"Is the school really being this generous?"

The leader smiled and said, "This was all arranged by the investor. They said your performance this time was very good. Everyone should go."

But Lily was lost in thought. This investor couldn't be Olivia, could it?

What exactly was she trying to do?

Show off, or was there another scheme?
