Chapter 213: Lily, This Time You Should Beg Me
Peter continued, "Now do you get it?"
He refused to believe he couldn't handle Lily.
Lily laughed out loud, her eyes cold.
Seeing the smile on her face, Peter felt a bit unsettled. "What are you laughing at?"
"You really care about me as your sister, don't you?"
Lily sat in her chair, the corner of her mouth curled up. "Otherwise, why do you keep trying to force me back to the Roberts Mansion? Isn't having Sophie enough?"
Peter's eyes turned cold. "Lily, I don't like that look in your eyes."
"Good, I don't like that look in your eyes either."
Lily spun around in her chair. "I remember when you were little, every time you were looked down on outside and felt upset, you'd come home and take it out on me. So who's looking down on you now?"
"Lily, you'd better think before you speak. Making me angry won't do you any good. Think about your friends, and your team."
"At worst, we'll both go down together." Lily stood up and grabbed Peter by the collar. "Only cowards get upset outside and then take it out on their family at home. After all these years, you're still a coward. "
Peter knew how to manipulate her.
But she also knew what Peter cared about most.
Peter was indeed provoked. He raised his hand to hit her, but his hand froze in mid-air before he put it back down.
Lily's eyes were cold. "Go ahead and hit me. Why'd you stop? Is it because you can't beat me?"
The corners of Peter's eyes were bloodshot. He felt really frustrated.
Because Lily was telling the truth , he really couldn't beat her now.
Peter laughed coldly. "Lily, I won't fight you physically now, but I have plenty of ways to make you suffer. Your team better not expect to train properly. You'd better never bow your head for the rest of your life."
After Peter finished speaking, he turned and left the office.
Lily stood there, watching him leave, and slammed her hand hard on the desk.
Zoey immediately came in. "Your hand is injured. Did Peter threaten you?"
Lily glanced at her hand. "When I was little, after my parents died, the family was a mess. I lived with my brothers. I got really good at reading their moods, trying to please them based on their personalities."
Zoey's eyes immediately turned red. "But you're their real sister. How could they treat you like this?"
Lily lowered her eyelids. "I know. They blame me for our parents' death, so I've been putting up with it all along. They're used to the old way we interacted, and now they're desperately trying to make me go back to that."
She had already died once in her past life.
She would never go back to the Roberts family and live like she used to.
Lily looked at Zoey. "I might have to leave the base team."
Peter was like a mad dog who wouldn't give up until he got what he wanted.
Everyone was training so hard because they wanted to compete. They shouldn't lose this opportunity because of her.
Zoey was crying with heartache. "No way. We won't let these things interfere with our training."
Poppy also came in. "That's right. We'll adjust our training schedule. I don't believe he can keep this up forever."
Lily's eyes were red. "I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize. We all know what you've been through, and we know your family plays favorites. We're one team, and we need to stick together."
Lily wiped away her tears. She would find a way to make sure Peter could never threaten her again.
All she wanted in this life was to live far away from the Roberts family.
But they kept hounding her. If they didn't want her to have peace, then nobody would.
Lily went back downstairs. The filming still wasn't going well.
Lily pinned Sophie's game character to the ground and beat it up many times. Her mood finally improved a lot.
Sophie's state had collapsed quite a bit though.
Peter also noticed the crew was getting frustrated, so he finally spoke up. "Let's call it a day. I'll treat everyone to dinner tonight."
After the crew left, Peter looked at Lily. "Looks like you don't care at all about your team's training being delayed."
"After all, filming takes time. I shouldn't be the one who's anxious." Lily looked at Peter calmly, to see who could outlast whom.
Peter suppressed his anger and said with fake gentleness, "Let's go eat. I especially chose that restaurant you love."
Lily sneered. "You got it wrong. The person who loves that restaurant is Sophie, not me."
Peter's expression became unnatural. "Then I must have remembered wrong. I've been too busy with work lately."
"If you can't remember, then stop playing the good brother role. There are no cameras here."
Peter's face became much uglier.
Sophie quickly came over to smooth things over. "Peter, that's just how Lily talks. Don't take it so personally."
Peter took the opportunity to back down and leave the team base.
Zoey said indignantly, "How can anyone force people like this? His usual persona is all an act. I really wish we could expose his true face."
"He's a celebrity. Without solid evidence, no one will believe what you say."
Besides, Peter had always cultivated a good brother image. With just her word, she couldn't win an argument against Peter's fans.
Lily looked at everyone. "Now let's start training. Everyone spar with me once. I want to see everyone's recent training results."
She trained with everyone until the dorm curfew, then finally stopped.
After returning to the dorm and taking a shower, she found a delivery box on her desk.
Seeing the familiar packaging, she opened it to find medicinal patches.
Lily took a photo and sent it to Dennis. [Received it, thanks.]
Dennis looked at her reply, not sure how to respond for a moment.
Lily's attitude made him uncertain.
Eric glanced over. "If Lily's replying to your messages, it means she's pretty rational and knows you weren't driving the car, so it's not directly related to you."
"But her behavior doesn't seem like she knows."
Dennis looked at the chat window, a bit hesitant.
Eric continued, "That makes sense, too. After all, it was your stepmother who handled this matter back then. Maybe your identity wasn't leaked. You could go ask her."
Dennis nodded. That made sense. He needed to go back and settle accounts with Mark anyway for trying to sell out his identity.
On Lily's end, after drying her hair, she noticed Dennis hadn't replied.
But she received several messages from the black market.
The administrator contacted her, [They're very sincere. They can add a bit more to your compensation. If you have other requirements, you can mention them too.]
[It's not about the compensation. This matter is non-negotiable.]
Lily didn't want to cooperate with David's company.
[Do you have some grudge with this company?]
Lily replied, [Yes, I do.]
[Then you can use this opportunity to make them apologize and submit. When others need something from you, don't waste such a good opportunity.]
Lily looked at this message and suddenly thought of something.
David had clues about her parents' car accident.
Maybe she could use this to exchange for those clues.
After all, David had been in Empire City for so many years and had only found a tiny bit of information, which meant it was very hard to find.
If she relied on herself, who knew how much longer it would take.
Although she really didn't want to get involved with the Roberts family, she still wanted to know the truth about what happened back then and find the person who escaped.
Lily replied, [You're right. I'll go to the Roberts Group tomorrow morning.]
Some things needed to be discussed in person.
The next morning, after class, Lily went straight to the Roberts Group.
She walked in with her backpack and said to the receptionist, "I'm here to see your boss."
"Do you have an appointment?"
After seeing Lily's face, the receptionist was stunned. "Are you Lily?"
Lily nodded without denying it. The receptionist personally took her upstairs to the CEO's office.
When David looked up and saw Lily, he was very surprised. "What are you doing here?"
Lily spoke directly. "I want the clues about the person who escaped back then."
"Looks like you've made your choice and given up on the lawsuit. You should have done this earlier. Seems you have some conscience after all. Mom and Dad didn't raise you for nothing."
David's mood improved considerably as he looked down at her from his superior position. "But if you want the clues, you need to beg me for them."
