Something smells

Something smells
Draven

"Nat you need to understand something. Vampires and Werewolves don't mix because it can and does cause issues. The blood doesn't mingle like it would for normal children. They come out...wrong." I tried to explain but I couldn't give her the real story.

"Look, if they have a child it will come out deformed. Some come out with wings. Others have been born with tails or no eyes. A few even came out with no legs." Edgar told me his feathers ruffled as he spoke.

"You two can stop. I doubt it is there yet. He isn't even..well..you saw." Nat told us with a frown. "I don't think that is on their minds yet."

I looked at her and sighed, she may be right. The trouble was if she wasn't and Raven did something really stupid then we would have to deal with it. That would be hard on us all. Raven needed to know the truth about this but he didn't want to let his daughter get her heart broken. That thought made my anger flare. Edgar had told Nat what could happen, but it could be worse than that. Such as the blood mixing could cause death to the mother. That wasn't going to happen to my daughter. I didn't say anything to Nat thought, she would go off. It hadn't been long since she lost it on Raven.

"So do you think he is cursed?" Nat asked Edgar becuase she didn't think Draven would give her an answer.

"It is very possible, that he is cursed. Some witches aren't powerful enough to do the curse correctly. So they come out looking like a...well you saw." Edgar lifted a wing toward the front door.

"Have either of you heard of a werewolf looking like that?" Nat asked not liking the answers so far.

"No." They both said at the same time.

This wasn't going to end well and I knew it. Nat looked at me with worry and knew that I wasn't telling her everything. I didn't know how to explain the rest to her. I wondered if my mom had seen him or known that Raven was talking to him. It looked more like they had been dating for the whole time. A call to mom was in order it would seem. When I looked over at Nat she yawned stretching.

"You should go to bed, you look like your ready to fall over." I smiled as I told her to get some sleep.

"Oh, I look that bad huh?" Nat smiled back to me as she stood up to head to the bedroom. "I am rather tired. Coming?"

"I would like to wait for Raven. I know Lucien went to bed already." I told her and watched as she left the kitchen to get up to bed.

"Why didn't you tell her everything?" Edgar asked as he flew down and landed on the table.

"I don't want her to worry. Raven has always been a handful. If we told her that being with Juilian would kill her she would never believe me." I knew that for a fact. Raven was bull headed.

At that I grabbed my phone to call my mom. She answered but wasn't happy that I woke her. I totally forgot the time difference. With a huff she told me to get on with it. What had a called her about that couldn't have waited till night fall on her side.

"Did you meet Juilian?" I wasn't sure that she had any idea who he was.

"Not that I recall, who is he?" She asked I could hear her moving out of the room so she wouldn't wake dad.

"He is a friend of Raven's. From what I am gathering she meet him over there." I hadn't dropped the bomb just yet.

"No, I don't recall her meeting any boys here." She knew I hadn't told her everything. "Spit it out."

"He isn't right...Meaning he looks like a partly transformed wolf. The thing is he has human color skin. Wolf paws and a partly transformed head." I heard her in take of breath.

"Good lord, how did she meet him?" I could hear her worry when she spoke.

"Have you ever heard of such a thing?" I knew if anyone had heard it would her or dad.

"Not unless he was cursed and the witch didn't have the power to finish it. That or they wanted him to look that way. So no one would want to be near him. It is a horrible thing to do to someone. Does he recall anything?" The fear and anger in her voice showed.

"That would be a beastly thing to do. What could he have done to deserve that? He doesn't have a clue at least that is what he told us." I didn't think he would lie about it. Though I didn't know him well enough to truely say that.

"I will check around here and see if anyone would know something. If he is a werewolf then you have a big problem on your hands." She told me then disconnected the call.

I sat looking at the phone then to Edgar. Some witches could be cruel but normally they had a reason. I didn't like this at all, Raven was going to get hurt by all of this. I wanted to wait for them but I was nodding off in the chair. Edgar had pecked at my hand to get me to wake up. I looked at him then sighed.

"Can you let them know I went up to bed. I would like to talk to them when they get back." I told Edgar who looked confused by what I said.

"Why? I mean you can't change anything at this point." Edgar nodded then hopped across the table. "Maybe he knows more than he is letting on."

"That is why iw ant to talk to him. To see if maybe there is something buried under the memories. I know you had issues with memory for a little while after you where turned into a bird. Sometimes you would forget who I was. Same with the others. You would peck at people thinking it was funny, they didn't share that idea with you." I told him with a smile that changed to a frown. "If you want follow him if he leaves the house. You are good at tracking people."

"Oh I get to be a spy!" Edgar jumped up and down then flew up to the cabinet. "I shall do my best."

I went up to the bedroom took a shower then joined Nat in the bed. Once in the bed I pulled her close to me. The moment she was aganist my chest she cuddle closer. I smiled as I kissed her forhead she grumbled in her sleep. It was amazing how she had changed over the years. I was glad that she was able to change my life for the better. I never dreamed of being married, nor did I think I would have kids. Nat had helped me see the world in a different color.
