Chapter 177
Chapter 177
Alex
Alex’s head felt like it had been stomped on by a herd of elephants. He forced his eyes open and saw double for several minutes. It took him a while before he realized that he was in the bedroom he shared with Wendy and Leo in the Pack house. He was laying on his back on his normal side. He didn’t have to look know that the warm body in the middle of the bed next to him belong to his beautiful mate.
“How are you feeling?” He heard the Pack doctor say.
“Like my jerk of a brother jabbed me with a bunch of Wolf’s bane.” Alex groaned
“So you do remember?” Leo said in an annoyed voice.
“I remember some things. I know I attacked poor old George and growled at you, but I don’t remember why.” Alex admitted. “Seriously, I’m just glad no one was hurt. I owe George a huge apology.”
Alex tried to guess the time before he asked. “How long have I been out?”
“A few hours, I gave you a very strong dose of anti-venom,” the doctor told him.
“Doctor, how long before Alex is back on his feet? I believe the Alphas will want to have a council meeting this afternoon.” Wendi said as she twisted her fingers together and looked nervous.
‘He should be completely himself in about an hour.” The doctor said. “Since everything seems to be in order here, I think I’ll go back to the hospital. I know you all have things to discuss.” She bowed to the Alphas and started to exit. “Wendi, remember, I will see you in two weeks.”
Alex immediately looked at Leo who shrugged. They both turned to Wendi with big eyes. Alex was near panic “Is something wrong?”
Wendi shook her head and smiled. “I promise, there is nothing wrong. While you were unconscious, I went to see the doctor. We wanted to see if we could figure out what upset Tony so badly. The doctor told me something that I need to talk to you about.” She said with a look of radiance.
She wiggled over in the bed and patted the other side so Leo would join her and Alex. He walked around the bed and sat down. He pulled Wendi’s head over so it rested on his shoulder before he kissed her temple.
“I know why Tony was flipping out earlier. Apparently, he has a better sense of smell than you do Alex,” she said.
Alex turned his head and forced his hand up to touch her hair. “What did the doctor tell you, Enaid?” He whispered.
“She gave me good news. Alex, Leo, you are going to be a father. We are expecting!” She said excitedly.
Leo practically jumped off the bed and swung her around in his arms. “We are going to have a pup! I love you, Cariad!”
Wendi shook her head as he put her down with a confused expression. “We are going to have two pups. The doctor says she can hear two very strong heartbeats.”
Alex reached out from his place on the bed. He was struggling to get up, but he was still too weak. She ran to his arms and snuggled against his chest. “She says she can’t be sure because she doesn’t have anything to compare the pregnancy to but the new Twins should arrive in six months if we have a normal werewolf gestation.”
She climbed onto the bed and Alex kissed her. Leo joined him and they cuddled up together. Leo and Alex took turns running their hands over her stomach and talking to their pups. They just rested in the joy of the moment as they waited for the doctor’s new anti-wolf bane to work its magic.
Alex was glad that he had been injected on Pack lands, instead of at the apartment like Leo had been. He had the good fortune of the doctor being able to see to him. She never left the reservation, so poor Asher just had to wait for the toxins to wear off.
True to the doctor’s word, about a hour later, feeling had returned to Alex’s feet and he was able to stand. Leo and Sam helped him to the family room of the Pack house where he sat with the most foolish look ever on his face.
The council had already started to arrive and the couches and chairs were starting to fill up with the people that the Twins were closest to. The Twins were so protective of Wendi they practically carried her into the meeting.
David and Tyson sat together holding hands on the loveseat. Charlotte sat in Sam’s lap in a recliner. Cole and Kami were standing by the fireplace staring at each other in their weird way. Lance, Grace and Ava were cracking jokes while sitting in the floor. The elders were sitting in kitchen chairs and Lisa was smiling as she brought in drinks. Sansa was speaking with Jace who was holding Leah in his lap. The holes left by the absence of Matt and the former Alpha were profound.
Leo cleared his throat to get everyone’s attention. “Alex and I want to thank you all so much for being here. Our family, which is what we consider all of you, has been through a lot recently. We have had some great joys such as adding several new faces to our Pack as worthy mates. We have celebrated the graduation and promotion of several of our wolves, and the implementation of a new wolf rank. Not to mention the fact we are having a banner year at Twin Inc. We have also suffered some true heartbreaks such as the loss of our former Alpha, Sir Adam, and four other members of our pack.”
“As the current Alpha Twin’s of Blackrock we are building a legacy and you are all part of that. The work we are doing will shape the future of the next generation.” Alex said from his chair next to Wendi.
“And we are happy to announce that the legacy is being preserved in a brand-new generation that begins today, with a brand new set of Blackrock twins. I’m pregnant!” Wendi squealed.
The entire room erupted on a chorus of “Congratulations!”
Alex and Leo sandwiched her between them as their friends all slap them on the back. “Enaid, you are perfect and I love you.” Alex told her again.
The End
Author Note: For those of you who love the shifters of Blackrock Pack as much as I do and are not quite ready for their stories to end, I have great news. I have recently began the first chapters of a sequel called "Saving Silvermoon". Until Matt's story is complete, please check out my other works, such as Silent Storm or The Broken Chain.
