Chapter 176

Chapter 176
Leo

Leo was confused. He didn’t understand what Tony had meant by “protect pup”. They didn’t have pups yet nor where there any pups around. His brother’s behavior was completely illogical.
It just didn’t make sense that Tony would attack George of all people. He was one of the nicest and most gentle wolves in the pack. Everyone loved him. The fact he had treated Leo as a threat was even more disturbing. As her mate, Leo couldn’t hurt Wendi and would be just as likely to try to protect her as Tony has been.

He wished Alex was awake so he could ask him about it. He was convinced there had to be a logical explanation for what was happening. It was just so out of character for his brother or by extension for his wolf to be so careless. Tony would never purposely harm a Pack mate.

He watched as Cole and Sam struggled to carry Alex’s unconscious body up to the bedroom that they shared in the Pack house. They laid him on his side of the bed and decided to head downstairs to discuss what had happened. When they entered the family room, Sansa was already there staring off into space.

“Sorry, mother, we didn’t mean to disturb you. We will just go into my office.” Leo said as he dropped his arm around her shoulders for a half hug.

“It’s okay, I could use the distraction, it would help me keep my mind off of your father,” Lady Sansa said. “Your Aunt Del called earlier and we were talking about old times. I hope she gets to come for a visit soon. I really miss her, especially right now.”

“I didn’t realize you had a sister.” Wendi said.
Lady Sansa laughed. “I’m a twin, just like Adam was. Of course most people didn't know about Adam's twin because he died when they were just children. He was killed by humans.” The Twins mother wiped away a stray tear.

“I guess with Twins running in both of our families, you probably weren’t surprised when you found out that Alex and Leo would be a multiple birth.” Sam said.

“I wasn’t, but Adam was. He almost passed out!” she laughed.

“Speaking of Twin brothers, I think I should tell you, before you hear it from someone else. I just had to inject Tony and Alex with Wolf bane. He went crazy in the ice cream shop and attacked George. He also picked up Wendi, and started carrying her around. He refused to put her down even after she told him repeatedly. Finally he started growling and tried to attack me. I don't know what's happening to him.”

Sansa got up from the sofa and walked over to Wendi. She reached up and put her hand on her forehead like she was checking for a temperature. She frowned and looked thoughtful.

“Your father’s wolf did that to me a couple of days before my first heat. I didn’t understand and thought he was going crazy. Apparently, being an Alpha wolf gave him a superior sense of smell so he knew it was coming and was irrationally convinced that all male wolves were trying to mate with me.” Sansa said with a small laugh. “Looking back now, it’s hilarious, but at the time it was quite traumatic.”

Leo walked over and inhaled Wendi’s scent. She smelled as she always did. His nose was full of vanilla, sunshine and soft linens. He shook his head at his mother.

“I’m human, I don’t really have a heat.” Wendi said.

“Could you be ovulating?” Sansa asked. “Maybe Tony mistook it for going into heat.”

“That’s unlikely. I’ve been on the birth control shot for a long time. It interrupts the reproductive cycle and prevents pregnancy.” Wendi said. “Although now that you mention it, it's getting time for me to have another dose. I should schedule a doctor’s appointment soon.”

“Maybe the shot is wearing off and Tony could smell it?” Sam suggested with a shrug.

“That’s a possibly. I’m wondering if I should go see the doctor just in case. I don’t want to be the cause of anymore Pack unrest.” Wendi said in an unsure voice.

Leo watched his mother’s eyes unfocused then return to normal. “The doctor says she can see the Luna now.” Sansa informed them.

Leo had rushed Wendi to the Pack clinic like her life depended on his haste. If he had been able to magically produce lights and sirens like an EMS vehicle, he would have. He was trying not to let on how worried he was but Tony's bizarre behavior had him concerned. The last thing Leo wanted was to worry or upset Wendi more than she already was.

Once they arrived, the doctor asked Leo and Wendi to wait in her office while she ran a few tests. It felt cold and sterile. Leo was trying his best not show how nervous he was. The doctor had given no indication that she believed that anything was wrong with Wendi, as she had performed a full physical examination.

“Stop worrying, Leo. I’m sure it’s nothing. Maybe Sam is right and I just need another birth control shot.” Wendi’ said. She gave him a reassuring kiss on the cheek.

The doctor knocked on the door and came into the room. She pushed her wire rim glasses up on her nose and straightened her lab coat. She looked at Leo and smiled.

“I’m sorry but I’m going to have to ask the Alpha to step out for moment.” She said as she gestured towards the door. “The Luna and I need to talk, woman to woman.” Her voice was pleasant and he could see Wendi looking at the doctor curiously.

Leo panicked. “Please doctor, is she sick?” The blood drained from his face.

“Of course not! The Luna is perfectly healthy. We just need to talk about some private matters. I’m sure the Luna will tell you and Alex about it when she is ready.” The doctor said as she softly patted Leo’s hand and escorted him out of the office.

“Are you sure that she is okay?” Leo asked.

“I promise Alpha, the Luna is in perfect health and there is nothing to worry about,” the doctor assured Leo. “Go back to the Pack house and check on Alex. I’ll bring the Luna back myself in about fifteen minutes and see if I can’t find something to revive him.”
