Chapter 175

Chapter 175
Wendi

It had been almost a week since the attack from Silvermoon. Lizzie’s had been put on trial and subsequently been banished. The Pack had survived the funeral of those lost in battle and they had already scattered the ashes of all the un-named that had passed in the rogue attack. Even the injured had been released from the hospital. Life has more of less returned to normal.

Since then Wendi had been trying to spend as much time as possible with the Twins while they mourned for their father, fallen friends and pack members. She had also made a special point to spend alone time with not just Alex and Leo, but also Tony and Asher. Tony had been eagerly await this particular outing.

As she spent more time with the wolves, she learned more about them and how different they were. One of the things she was happy to discover is that Tony loved ice cream almost as much as she did. As a result, he was currently holding her hand, in his human form, as they strolled over for a sweet treat. He was unusually quiet and repeatedly kept sniffing her.

“What’s on your mind Tony?” Wendi asked him. She knew something seemed off.

“Pups” he answered without any further explanation. He sniffed her again.

Wendi vaguely wondered if he meant specific pups, pups they might have or if it was a random thought. She started to ask him about it, but decided she would wait until he was ready to talk about it.

He remained silent as he opened the door of the shop and waited for her to come inside. He stood behind her and rubbed her shoulders as they stood looking at the counter. Wendi eyed the different tubs and mulled over her choices of the buckets of hand churned flavors. Wendi noticed Tony seemed nervous and was glancing around at the other wolves inside the shop.

“It’s okay, no one here will hurt us,” Wendi said as she rubbed his arm. She began to wonder if wolves could suffer from PTSD. She knew that the wolves had taken it particularly hard that she had been attacked by a fellow wolf while she had been trying to defend Blackrock.

He let out a strange growl and wrapped his arm around Wendi and pulled her against his chest so they were standing front to back. His hand slid down her waist and rested across her stomach.

“I think the lemon- lavender ice cream sounds good. What are you wanting to try?” She asked.

“Carmel” he said with a happy yelp.

George the shop owner, picked up his ice cream scoop and began to a dish up two large ice cream cones. Wendi was excited to try a new flavor and she found that she really liked to take walks with Tony. He was incredibly sweet and always made her feel so warm and protective.

After George had finished scooping the ice cream, he handed the two sugar cones over the counter. Wendi reached up and took them from him. George lightly grabbed her wrist, “Wait Luna, I’ll get you some napkins. This one is dripping,” He looked down and reached towards the stack.

Without warning Tony lunged at George and knocked him back over the counter. “No touch!” he yelled. Tony flew over the counter and grappled the middle-aged shopkeeper to the ground. He pinned George to the floor and punched him.

“Tony!” Wendi yelled as she ran to the end of the counter and around the ice cream bar to where he had pinned George to the floor. She grabbed Tony’s shoulder, “Let him go!” She demanded.

She shoved Tony a second time trying to push him off George. “What are you doing? Get off of him!’ Wendi yelled as she tried to pull Tony away.
Tony scowled and looked at her. “Protect mate!” He barked.

“I don’t need protected. George wasn’t trying to hurt me.” She insisted.

“I’m so sorry George, I don’t know what’s gotten into him.” Wendi said as she again tried to pull Tony away. He only growled and glared at George.

“It’s okay, Luna. I shouldn’t have touched you. I think I understand what’s going on.” George said apologetically. “I have a family.”

Wendi couldn’t believe what she was seeing, Tony was acting crazy. She turned around and walked out of the shop hoping that he would follow her and let poor George up.

As expected, Tony released George and followed her out of the shop. “Can someone please link Leo for me?” Wendi said as she exited.

As soon as they were in the street, Tony was all over her. He was touching her like he was checking her for wounds. “Mate safe.” He said aggressively.

“Stop” she snapped at him. “You are acting like a jerk.” Wendi scolded him.

“Mate safe” he barked at her and picked her up bridal style and began to stomp back towards the Pack house. He continued to sniff her.

“Put me down, Tony.” Wendi said. She was beginning to lose her patience.

He shook his head and continued to carry her across the green space. “If you don’t put me down, I’ll ask Alex to come back.” She threatened him. Tony never faltered.

Wendi saw Sam enter the ice cream shop to check on George as Leo approached Tony.
“What’s going on?” He asked as he jogged up beside them.

Tony began to growl. He carefully put Wendi on her feet and pushed her behind his body. She recognized that Tony was trying to protect her.

“Tony, that’s Leo. He won’t hurt me, so knock it off.” She said sternly as Tony’s claws were beginning to extend while he growled at Leo.

“Alex, I need you,” Wendi said and she could see Tony’s eyes flicker back and forth between yellow and blue. Tony stiffened and his eyes remained yellow as he began to stalk his brother.

“I’m sorry brother,” Leo said. He moved like lighting and jabbed Tony with a syringe. He struck like a snake and plunged the into his neck.

“Protect Pups” Tony said as he dropped to the ground.
