Chapter 172
Chapter 172
Kami
Her fingers itched to reach for the hidden dagger in her hair. Kami wanted to sink her blade into Lizzie over and over until the pain in her heart was gone. She wanted to hurt someone till the screaming in her head stopped. She wanted to plunge it into Lizzie until the pain of the death’s of the Blackrock wolves were forgotten and until Matt was found.
She wanted to hurt someone in retaliation for the look she had seen on Cole’s face when he was told that the Gamma had disappeared out of the hospital, despite the fact he was severely wounded. Matt had just disappeared without so much as a note or text to explain where he had gone. It look like the Gamma had just ran away. Matt had simply limped out of the hospital, leaving behind his phone and a brand-new training schedule. He had written up a tighter patrol schedule and a note that Cole should succeed him, while Kami should be named as Zeta in Cole’s place.
The Twins had agreed that Cole should step up as temporary Gamma until Matt returned. But even knowing that she would be training as the Zeta, wasn’t enough to get rid of the pit in her gut. She was happy that the Twins thought she and Cole were capable of defending the Pack, but she didn’t want the promotion at Matt expense. He wasn’t just her friend, he had literally saved her life. He was a hero, which just made it all so much worse.
Kami clicked her tongue and scowled as she stared Lizzie down. She wished that Christy was in the dungeon beside the traitorous wolf. The two of them were two blonde peas in a pod, and as far as Kami was concerned, both deserved everything they got. She wanted to see them both punished in the worst possible way that she and Cole could scheme up. Kami snorted in her head when she thought about how creative the two of them could be when they worked together.
“Tell me, why? Was it really worth it?” Kami demanded as she towered over Lizzie.
Lizzie shot Kami a look that would have killed if such a thing were real. “What do you think?” Lizzie snapped. It was obvious that the prisoner wanted to sound brave, but her voice shook and Kami knew Lizzie was on the edge of tears
“I think you a sorry excuse for a wolf and the world will be a better place when Alex lets me tear you to pieces. But for shits and giggles, I would like to know why you attacked Wendi?”
Lizzie shrugged nonchalantly. A look of dread crossed her face before she could mask it. “It wasn’t personal at first, she was just in my way. I just wanted to be Luna. I had a good shot before she got here. She’s just a lowly human that should have stayed in her lane. If she didn’t exist, I would the one at the Twin’s side and this attack could have been avoided. This is why wolves and humans shouldn’t mix.” Lizzie said. “After she fired me, all I wanted was her blood. Revenge sounded pretty sweet in the moment.”
Kami threw her head back and began to laugh. She was beginning to think that Lizzie was a bit delusional. Alex and Leo would never have mated with someone like her. She might have been pretty but she had no depth. She was selfish and petty. Kami knew that Lizzie had no actual skills to be an effective Luna.
“Leo wanted me. I could tell. And if it hadn’t have been for that fat human, I would be the richest, most powerful wolf in the world. You can think whatever you want, but at least I fought for what I wanted. No matter what you and that skank do, you can’t change the fact you will always be human trash. So go ahead and do your worse. It won’t make either of you wolves.” Lizzie growled. It might have sounded more like a threat to Kami had Lizzy not been shaking all over.
Kami rolled her eyes. The longer she stood there looking at what a pathetic waste of space Lizzie really was, the more she decided Alex had been right in his sentence. The Twins had already decided that she would be afforded a formal trial since it was Pack law, but ultimately she would be banished from the Pack. She would permanently wear her shame as she was forced to roam alone and afraid.
Kami already knew that Lizzy’s days were numbered. Alex had already declared that after the mass funeral, that was scheduled for the following day, Lizzie would have her day in court. Afterwards, Cole had already promised Kami that she could brand Lizzie as a traitor before she was banished from Blackrock forever. Technically, the honor of marking her as a traitor should have gone to Wendi, but they all knew that Wendi was much too soft hearted. Wendi wouldn’t have the stomach to do it, even though it was her right. Kami smirked wickedly as she thought about the nasty fate that Lizzie had coming to her.
“If that were true, why did you shift to hide your identity and take a cheap shot at the Luna, during a rogue attack. Why act like a faithless, lowly coward. If you really thought you could take Wendi’s spot, why didn’t you challenge her to a proper Luna challenge? Perhaps you already knew what the rest of the Pack did. You are nothing but a weak, honor less, home wreaking whore that no one will miss when Alex lets me have my way with what’s left of you.” Kami said with an angry scowl. She knew she was rubbing salt into the wound.
Lizzie shrugged again. “She wasn’t worth my time, and neither are you.” Kami could hear that Lizzie was using all the bravado that she could muster. Kami could almost smell her fear. She took a other menacing step towards the crumbled heap of she-wolf.
“I’m not afraid of you.” Lizzie squeaked. Her voice lacked all conviction and Kami found it laughable.
“I’ll remember you said that, when you get what’s coming to you. And believe me, I’m going to enjoy it, immensely.” Kami said as she stepped towards Lizzie threateningly again. She cracked her knuckles jokingly and heard the she wolf whimper.
The smell of urine filled the room. Kami had to turn her head so that she did not gag. It wasn’t what she wanted to do, but she decided that utter humiliation was a pretty good consolation prize. She smirked at Lizzie, who was sitting at a puddle of her own making, before she turned and walked out of the cell with a maniacal laugh.
