Chapter 171
Chapter 171
Kami
Kami was out for blood. The adrenaline of the battle had barely escaped her veins. It had only been a day since she had been deep in the middle of fighting for her life but the memory of seeing the Silvermoon Beta standing over her with his teeth bared, was forever etched in her brain. It had kept her up as a nightmare on repeat the entire night before.
Nothing seemed to be able to shake the knowledge of how close she had come to the her end. Not even the marathon sex session she had before bed, which only ended when Cole made her cum so hard, she had passed out. She wished she could focus on the memory of Cole’s tongue on her clit, but all she could think about was how Matt had stumbled to her rescue.
During that battle, that no name yellowbellied Beta had her dead to rights. She had known the odds when she jumped into the fray, but she couldn’t just stand by and watch her mate’s best friend die. Even as a human, she knew how disgraceful and dangerous pack hunting was. It was clear that the men from Silvermoon had no honor. Kami considered it an absolute embarrassment to have kicked the bucket at the hands of such losers. She knew deep in her heart, that had Matt not gotten to his feet and distracted the Beta, a sad death at his hand would have been her fate. Without Matt’s bravery, Kami knew she wouldn't have survived.
The thought of being dead, and therefore separated from Cole made her blood boil. If she had the ability, Kami would have raised that Silvermoon Beta jerk from the dead just so she could stab him all over again. But since she has yet to discover a proper book on necromancy, Kami had to resort to putting her violence towards a worthy cause. She almost felt bad for the wolves that were housed in the dungeon as she made her way to the lonely gray building. Cole had made it clear she couldn’t actually physically torture anyone, but she had a feeling making a few of them cry would be enough to make her whole day better.
As Kami approached the prison, she recognized several of Cole’s boarder patrol friends. Most of the warriors around the Pack were taking extra shifts guarding the rogues and Silvermoon wolves. There had been several wolves that had survived the battle, but had been too injured to retreat. There was a currently a bit of debate among the members of Blackrock as to what the fate of the invaders should be. Lots of wolves, including Kami wanted retribution for what Silvermoon had done.
The guard closest to the prison gate took a huge step back as Kami approached him. He lowered his head in an act of unexpected submission. Kami paused and studied the guard who seemed to be trying to shrink back from her like he was about half afraid. Kami tilted her head and studied how all of the guards seemed to have a similar reaction.
Kami didn’t know if it was her expression or her reputation, but watching them cower made her feel ten feet tall and bulletproof. It was a minor ego boost that helped to smooth Kami’s ruffled feathers because at least they had the good sense to know that Kami was a complete badass. She gave the warrior a small wink as she passed him, and noticed that he slightly relaxed.
Kami really didn’t have a destination in mind as she stomped down the hall. She mostly just wanted to make someone else feel as crappy as she did. She was weighing out the possibilities of who she should torment since the Beta was already dead, when she found her eye drawn to one of the cells nearest the entrance. A familiar looking blonde was pacing back and forth across the small cell. She was sighing and talking to herself.
A huge grin crossed Kami’s face. She couldn’t have hand picked a more deserving piece of crap then the loser she-wolf in front of her. Kami stood outside the silver plated iron door and watched the prisoner carefully. The blonde stomped her foot repeatedly and groaned Wendi’s name. The traitor gritted her teeth and balled up her fists To a casual observer, it looked almost as if she was losing her mind. Kami could help but chuckle.
With a quick head nod, a guard near Kami rushed over to unlock the cell. The door made an ominous creak as it opened. Kami stepped through the door and crossed her arms over her chest. Her glare was enough to stop Lizzie in her tracks.
The prisoner whirled on her heels and shrieked when she saw Kami. The scowl on Lizzie’s face fell and the color drained from her face. She stepped back quickly and growled. Lizzie looked like she wanted to shift into her wolf, but the individual silver cuffs locked on her wrists prevented her from transforming.
Kami could tell that the defeated she-wolf regarded the human as the predator. It gave her a thrill to see the wolf realize she was no longer on top of the food chain. Lizzie kept her eyes locked on Kami and slowly backed against the wall with her hands up. She slid down the wall slowly while muttering to herself.
Just looking at the once vivacious blonde was making Kami even more furious. She didn’t know what was pissing her off more, the fact that Lizzie was shrinking away like an old whipped dog or if it was the fact she was such a coward. Only a piss ant weakling would have sneak attacked her own Luna, especially during a Pack wide rogue attack. She was almost as much of a disgrace as that Beta had been.
“Have you come to kill me?” Lizzie said as tears filled her eyes. She began to shake from head to toe. She was trying to sound brave but Kami knew it was crap.
Kami had to admit she wanted to. She wanted to rip Lizzie from limb to limb. In her opinion, Lizzie was nothing but a lowlife, meddling, home wreaking slut, just like Jenny and Christy. Those three bitches were responsible for the death of several good wolves. Jenny was dead, and as far as Kami was concerned, Christy and Lizzie deserved the same fate.
Kami had to admit that while Lizzy hadn’t technically planned the attack on Blackrock, like Jenny and Christy, she was still guilty. In Kami’s opinion she was even more so, because she had taken a cheap shot at Wendi while the Pack was in danger. Instead of doing her duty, Lizzie had taken a tragedy and tried to use it to elevate her own status. What felt even worse about it, was that Kami hadn’t seen Lizzie’s betrayal coming and she hadn’t been able to guard against it. Lizzie had found a chink in Kami’s armor and the thought of it made h
er boiling mad!
