Chapter 82 Traitor Harold

Chapter 82 Traitor Harold

Sienna was surprised to discover the game was actually developed by the Knight Group. She glanced at Henry, who continued eating calmly, seemingly unfazed by the revelation.

"So you knew all along this game belonged to the Knight Group?" she asked.

Henry nodded while chewing. "Of course. I'm familiar with all of the Knight Group's ventures. The gaming division generates substantial profits—and William has certainly contributed his share with those million-dollar equipment purchases each month. That money ultimately ends up back in my pocket anyway."

It suddenly made perfect sense—money from one pocket to another. No wonder Henry never restricted William's spending; letting him enjoy himself with what was essentially their own money seemed like a perfectly reasonable arrangement.

Gage beamed at Henry, his eyes sparkling with pride. "Henry, you're brilliant! Honey, he definitely inherited my business genes!"

Amara rolled her eyes at her husband's boasting. Little Olivia, ever the diplomat, chimed in, "Grandpa, I take after you!"

Delighted, Gage scooped Olivia up and showered her with kisses until Amara rescued the child, pushing her husband away with mock disapproval.

By the time dinner ended, it was past nine, and the children were exhausted. Sienna took them upstairs for their baths, but hardly needed to coax them to sleep—they drifted off almost immediately.

Back in the bedroom, Sienna collapsed onto the bed, utterly drained. Alexander embraced her as soon as she lay down.

"I'm too tired tonight," she murmured.

Alexander smiled and kissed her earlobe gently. "Just sleep. I promise I'll just hold you tonight, nothing more."

Sienna fell asleep instantly, the day's events having completely depleted her energy.

In the middle of the night, Alexander's phone vibrated. He opened his eyes, checked the screen, and quickly slipped out of bed. Ethan was waiting in the hallway.

"Trouble?" Alexander asked.

Ethan's expression was grim as he gestured downstairs. "Someone's here to see you."

When Alexander descended the stairs, surprise registered on his face. The foyer was filled with Smith family members. James was wounded and being bandaged. On the floor lay Harold, the Smith family's security guard who had grown up alongside James, covered in blood—and apparently, a traitor.

"What happened here?" Alexander demanded.

Ethan's voice was tight with controlled fury. "Those intruders who attempted to breach Smith Villa today—we identified them. Turns out some were Harold's men. I'd left Harold in Emerald City with strict orders not to return without my authorization. After investigating, we discovered he's kidnapped members of the Knight family. Their whereabouts are currently unknown."

Alexander's eyes turned cold as ice as he yanked Harold up by his collar. "Why target the Knight Group?"

Harold glared back with pure hatred. "Why? Because I despise you. Is that reason enough? You betrayed Ms. Smith, hurt her deeply, yet you refuse to let her go. You even try to worm your way into the Smith family. What gives you the right?"

Alexander hoisted him higher, a cold smile playing on his lips. "According to your logic, you've known all along that Sienna was a Smith, haven't you?"

The question hit its mark. Ethan's eyes widened as the implication sank in.

"Harold, is this true?" Ethan demanded.

Harold laughed maniacally, looking around at the Smith family members with defiance. "Of course it's true. Want to know why I did it? I've known Ms. Smith's identity for years but deliberately kept it from you. When you found leads, I fed you false information, making you miss her time and again."

Enraged, Ethan kicked Harold hard, sending him flying across the room. Harold spat blood but continued laughing.

Alexander frowned. "Don't kill him yet—we need information. Have his wounds treated, but no food or water. Let him starve for a couple of days before questioning."

Ethan nodded and ordered his men to take Harold away, then led Alexander to the study.

"What's Harold's real story?" Alexander asked once they were alone.

Ethan pondered the question. "He came to the Smith family at age three as the butler's adopted son. He grew up alongside James, attended university on our scholarship, and was being groomed as the next head butler."

Alexander paced the room. "I'm curious how he found Sienna and learned about her background. His attack on the Knight family isn't simply about jealousy—what's his real motivation? What's he gaining from this?"

Ethan's expression darkened further; the betrayal by someone he had trusted cut deep.

"I'll investigate this thoroughly," Ethan promised. "However, we haven't located your grandparents yet."

"I'll handle that myself," Alexander said firmly. "And keep Sienna out of this." He opened the door to leave, only to find Sienna standing there, her face pale. He froze. "Sienna, why are you up? I thought you were sleeping."

Sienna pushed past him into the study. "I just heard you say your grandparents have been kidnapped. Is that true?"

Her voice trembled with emotion. "Why would anyone target elderly people? Who would do such a thing?"

Alexander quickly embraced her. "Try not to worry. My grandparents have tracking devices on them. I've already dispatched a team to find them. They'll be safe soon."

Sienna couldn't be calmed. "Who's behind this? I thought everything was stable back home. Harold was there to ensure—" She stopped mid-sentence, her eyes widening as realization dawned. She looked up at Alexander. "It's Harold, isn't it? But why? Why would he do this?"

Her agitation grew. Alexander rubbed her back soothingly, trying to steady her breathing.

"Sienna, please, don't upset yourself like this. Ethan and I will get to the bottom of this, I promise. Trust us, okay?"

She clutched his shirt, fear evident in her eyes. "The children—what if they target our children next?"

Alexander lifted her into his arms and carried her back to their bedroom upstairs.

Meanwhile, Sienna's concerns had struck a chord with Ethan. He immediately summoned Cruz.

"I want you to thoroughly vet everyone at Smith Villa," he ordered. "Screen every single servant. Anyone suspicious gets removed immediately."

Cruz nodded grimly. He had just visited James and was furious about Harold's betrayal. Such a massive security breach was a humiliation for all of them.

"Consider it done," Cruz assured him. "Though I suspect Harold's actions are connected to someone within the Smith family. Several individuals have been acting suspiciously lately. Watch your back, Ethan."

Ethan nodded. "Don't worry. The only person clever enough to outmaneuver me would be Henry."

At the mention of Henry, Cruz smiled. "That kid is remarkable. I'm half-tempted to steal him away, though I know you'd never allow it."

Ethan shot him a withering look. "If you want children, find a woman and have your own. Henry is the Smith family's future leader. He's already managing the family foundation—and I'd appreciate you keeping your distance."

Cruz's jaw dropped. "Ethan, have you lost your mind? You've entrusted the Smith fortune to a five-year-old? Aren't you worried—"

Ethan's lips curved into a knowing smile. "What do you think? Should I be worried?"
