Chapter 68
Sorin immediately turned to look at me. He had a shocked expression all over his face. Even Kelvin was dumbfounded, not to talk of the Doctor and the maids who were present.
"How could you say such thing?" Sorin asked as he tried to hide his shaking hands in his pockets, but not before I saw it.
I didn't answer him, until the doctor spoke again after putting himself together.
"Why did you say that, madam?" He asked, moving closer to me.
"Why would you want to die when you already have what other people might want to kill for?" He asked.
"Well, I'm not others." I answered sharply, like one who was fed up, because, of a truth, I was completely fed up.
"As a matter of fact, they can kill me for all of this." I added as I gestured with my hands. "That would be better, at least I'll rest in peace, away from all this." I began to sob.
He paused for a while like he was in deep thoughts. He then sighed before he started speaking again.
"Can you excuse us?" He asked, facing the maids.
They immediately bowed and left the room, leaving behind Kelvin, the Doctor, I and Sorin, who looked like he was going to disappear any minute.
"Should I leave too?" Kelvin quickly asked, but before the doctor could respond, Sorin spoke.
"No, you should stay." He said almost inaudibly, like he was struggling to breathe. I didn't know if I was the only one who noticed or it was just my imagination playing pranks on me but I was sure that he didn't sound like he was fine. He just kept glaring at me, his eyes had become so red, like they were about to launch some real fireballs. Even I, was scared of the way he was looking.

The taxi stopped a few metres away from the house, Sonia paid and alighted. She then began her walk to Daisy's house, walking because no taxi or unknown vehicle was ever allowed close to the estate.
Any new person must always call beforehand and the security at the gate would then notify the security in the house to call and inform the home owner, who would then order them to permit the visitor or not.
But the likes of Sorin never needed to be stopped, he always had a free and smooth entry because he was well known.
She got to the gate and the security at the gate, raised an eyebrow. Not knowing who she was, he asked,
"Yes ,who are you here to see?"
Surprised, Sonia looked at him in bewilderment. She had totally forgotten that she had a hood on her head and a nose mask that covered half of her face, which made it difficult for the innocent security guard to recognize her.
"Don't you know who I am anymore or you've forgotten so quickly just because I was gone for what? A few days?" She asked with a muffled voice, still not realizing that she was too covered to be recognized.
"Madam, I do not know who you are and I suggest you leave now to avoid any more embarrassments." He said with a stern look on his face.
While they were still having their back and forth, the gates were opened and a Black Bugatti was driving out.
Immediately, the guard stood in respect and bowed in respect too.
"What is going on there?" A familiar female voice asked as the window of the Black Bugatti was wound down.
"So sorry for the distraction ma'am. I don't know who this young lady is but she wants to go in. I'll get her out of here immediately." He said nervously.
While he was speaking, Sonia ran close to the car just before the guard could stop her.
"Hi ma'am. I'm back." Sonia said as she immediately greeted her and bowed in respect.
"Sonia?" Daisy called out.
"Yes ma'am." Sonia answered, leaving the guards confused.
"Why do you look like this? No wonder the guards couldn't recognize you." Daisy said.
It was at that moment Sonia looked at herself through the tinted window of Daisy's car.
"Geez!" She exclaimed, almost screaming as she saw what she looked like. "No wonder he truly couldn't recognize me, I totally forgot I was dressed this way." She said, as she pulled down the hood and removed the nose mask, while the guards looked on in astonishment.
"Why do you look like this anyway and why are you here?" Daisy asked. "Thought you still had to be at the hospital."
"Well yeah, I needed to leave the hospital and I needed a disguise."
"Why? And where is Rose too?" Daisy asked, peeping through her window. "She has been at the hospital ever since you got there, I'm now beginning to wonder if she has gotten a job there by now." Daisy said.
"Actually, she is there so I can be here.""
"What does that mean? Stop speaking in parables." Daisy inquired.
"She is filling in for me over there at the hospital."
Daisy rolled her eyes the moment she understood what Sonia was saying.
"So you both are playing deceitful pranks at the hospital now, yeah?" Daisy asked.
"Not exactly, ma'am." Sonia said, shaking her head.
"Then what is it?" Daisy asked.
"I just needed to get out of the hospital, but I was very sure they would not allow me leave just like that, so I had to come up with a plan."
"You needed to get out of the hospital? Daisy asked. "Yes ma'am." She responded.
"That's what you've been saying since! What is the reason behind you leaving the hospital abruptly? What can't wait? I want to know." Daisy demanded.
"There is something very important I need to let you in on and if I remained there, it might be too late." She said, and Daisy's demeanor changed immediately.

Sorin looked weak and fierce at the same time. It was like I was seeing a lion and lamb in just one person at the same time. This was the first time I was seeing him like this. Something was definitely going on with him but what it was, I had no idea. He seemed like he was in pain and he was trying as much as he could not to show it. I tried so hard to figure out what it could be, but all my efforts proved abortive, so I decided to focus on my misery.
I searched in my heart, I frantically searched, hoping that I could at least find just one person who could deliver and save me from this nightmare of a life and this sham of a marriage but there was none, absolutely no one to save me. I was stuck and the only way out was death, or so I thought, which was why I said it to their hearing that I just wanted to die.
"Doctor?" I called out to the doctor who responded immediately.
"Yes ma'am."
"Did you hear me the first time?" I asked but he wasn't sure whether or not to answer me.
I turned to look at him, "In case you forgot in a hurry, I'm going to remind you now. I just said I wanted to die."
"But why?" He asked me.
"My life has no meaning. My life makes no sense. Nothing is working for me, nothing is working out. I'm just a tool, a very useless one." I answered amidst sobs.
"Don't say that." The doctor said, trying to encourage me.
"But it's the truth. I can't run away from my truth."
"That is not your truth, ma'am. That's not it, please do not say that." The doctor said.
The room was now so tensed up and emotional, only that no one else asid me was crying. I guess they were all trying so hard to hold it all in because they were all men.
"Just let me go and have peace. Let me have peace and make life easy for all those who do not want me around. Please doctor, inject me with something deadly and let me die." I said all these words with severe pain in my heart. It felt like I was being stabbed in the heart with a knife that had been placed in a fiery furnace for a long time.
As I kept saying all these words, I noticed the doctor turned to look at Kelvin who nodded at him, like he just silently gave the doctor an instruction. The doctor then brought out a syringe and it had a kind of yellow liquid in it. He injected me and in less than a minute, I began to feel dizzy, weary and numb. My eyes soon began to close of their own accord but that wasn't before I noticed what was going on in the room, especially with Sorin.
I noticed that as i was speaking, he still kept glaring at me with his now bloodshot eyes, but i couldn't understand the emotion in his eyes. He kept stepping further back as i spoke about dying, making me think I was hated more than before.
I didn't understand what was going on but trust Kelvin to understand his boss perfectly.
He immediately walked to his boss' side and held his arm and this made him jerk to reality like he had been hit with something, making visible his shaking hands which Kelvin immediately held as he led him out of the room. And with that, my eyes closed finally.
