Olivia - I'd die to keep her safe
Olivia - I'd die to keep her safe
(Present day)
The sound of Harmon's voice pulled me gently from my slumber.
My body hurt. Muscles that I didn't know I had ached. When I pulled back the sheet to get up, I found cum laced with blood leaking out of my pussy onto the fitted sheet. I couldn't stop myself from beaming. Yes, everything hurt. So fucking good.
It was like I was waking up to a fairytale. I couldn't believe this was really happening. What I wouldn't give to be able to go back in time. Just so I could tell the me from a few weeks ago that everything was going to work out. That he finally came around.
The devastation I felt when I woke up next to him the morning after. The devastation I felt when he treated me like just another hook was profound. I wouldn't take that night back for anything though. It turned my whole life upside down… In the best way.
"Where the fuck is she?" Billy's voice raged in the common area, making me bolt upright in bed.
Just like that, the fantasy that was waking up to Harmon Chancellor turned into my worst nightmare.
I didn't want Billy to find out about us like this. He would have trouble accepting it as it was. I wanted him to know that I was taking this seriously. My relationship with Harmon was important to me.
"Clothes, I need clothes," I said to myself, scrambling to crawl out of bed.
"She's okay, Will," I heard Harmon's stoic voice answer.
"What the fuck is going through your head, Harmon? Tokyo? She's been almost kidnapped, almost poisoned, God only knows what Copycat would have done if he got her alone and what do you do? You take her to a concert in a foreign country where, you guessed it, she almost died again," Billy mouthed off, his usually calm demeanor absent as he lost his shit about recent events.
In fairness, it had been a busy few weeks for Harmon and I. I wouldn't take any of it back though. It was completely worth it.
"Fuck," I hissed under my breath, staring down at the blood stained, ripped dress I had been wearing tonight. "I knew I should have insisted on an overnight bag. We'll go shopping in Japan, he said. Well fucking what now, Harmon?"
"You're the one that said to make nice. That's all I was trying to do," said Harmon.
Mr. Inconsequential, is that you? What's going through your head right now, daddy?
I couldn't stop the paranoia from leaking into my every thought as I wracked my brain for answers.
Do I go out there? In fucking what, Olivia?
"That's just the thing, Harmon. Chance. Whatever the fuck your name is. You spent ten years protecting her at my side. The irony is she's never been in more danger than when she was with you," an upset Billy spat out, no filter left as anger consumed his words.
"Robes. Hotels have robes," I said, snapping my fingers, the light bulb going on in my head as I made a beeline for the bathroom.
"I took a life for the first time in seven years. Started a blood feud with the Yakuza in the process. Almost killed my brother. I'm on the bad side of an Italian mafia king who makes Satan look like a saint. All for her. I'd die to keep her safe," Harmon countered, cracks in his stoic voice beginning to show as my anxious fingers yanked a plush, white robe off a shelf.
My heart drummed madly in my chest as I let Harmon's words seep into it.
We weren't a mistake. He wasn't taking us back. Well neither was I.
Not even the threat of death could keep me from you, daddy.
"I can do this. I can tell Billy about us. Make him understand. He has to. He just has to," I said, trying to talk myself into it despite the pit in my stomach foreshadowing a poor ending.
I slid my arms into the robe's sleeves, wrapped it around my body and marched my way to the bedroom door.
Everything I dreamed of was finally within reach. I just wanted to be happy. Was I asking for too much?
Billy's voice filled the common area once more, stopping me dead in my tracks just as I was about to open the bedroom door.
"I know that. That's why I'm asking you, my sister's keeper, our brother, to see the problem is you, Harmon," Billy said with a deflated sigh, the anger in his voice replaced by raw fear.
"I know," Harmon said, making me break out into a cold sweat. "I never meant for her… Fuck, Will. She's everything to me. You both are."
No. No. No. No takebacks.
Just say you'll always be in my life.
You asked for the fucking amendment, not me.
I was wiping the tears staining my cheeks away, willing them to disappear, as I listened to Harmon's voice break. Soften. Become small.
"I'm terrified, man. You were right. You're too dangerous to be around my sister. Where's Olivia, Harmon? I'm taking her home," Billy implored, his voice stern as he went on the defensive.
"I don't want to go," I said, standing in the doorway, evidently having opened the door.
"Jesus Olive, you're shaking kiddo," said Billy, rushing to make his way to me, the fear and concern in his voice a punch to the gut.
"I'm fine," I said, stubbornly folding my arms. "I'm staying. You can't make me go back," I whined in between sniffles, like the spoiled brat I knew I could be.
"Olivia, what are you doing here?" Billy asked, stopping midway between Harmon and I to look between the two of us.
My heart skipped a beat Billy's suspicious eyes took in the room. Harmon's bloody suit and shoes strewn across the floor, leading to the bedroom. My stilettos and coat laid on opposite ends of the room.
"Answer me, Olive. What are you doing sharing a suite with Harmon? Why aren't you dressed, Olivia?" his frustrated voice insisted.
