Chapter 281

Upon hearing those words, Ezra quickly grabbed the phone, with Gray peering over his shoulder.

Lawrence tried to sneak a glance but was intimidated by a look from Gray, so he stood quietly to the side, listening to Quincy’s explanation.

Nothing could bring him more peace than knowing Emily was still alive.

Even facing Quincy, who was vying for Emily’s affection, seemed more tolerable now.

The surveillance footage showed the time frame when Emily was supposed to appear. Just two minutes later, Gray’s eyes lit up.

Pointing at the license plates of several speeding cars on the screen, he said, “Ezra, these are the cars I sent to pick up Emily.”

But Ezra frowned, looking up at Quincy. “All these cars entered the Bridge of Horizons. What’s the point of showing us this?”

Before Quincy could explain the misunderstanding, Gray shouted excitedly, “Ezra, it’s true! He’s telling the truth!”

“I don’t remember how many cars we sent out, but the one you specially modified for Emily isn’t among them… which means Emily might not have crossed that bridge.”

Ezra and Gray exchanged a glance, reading the joy and relief in each other’s eyes.

Emily was really safe.

Ezra handed the phone back to Quincy, thanking him earnestly, “We owe you big time. The Wilson family won’t forget this.”

Quincy just shook his head lightly. “No need for that. It’s what I should do.”

Ezra’s impression of him deepened.

The Wilson family had investigated, but to discover the issue so quickly and keenly observe the missing car from the footage…

Quincy was definitely no ordinary person.

Rumor had it that before Lawrence became the sole heir, the Parker family’s business had thrived under Quincy’s management.

In just a few years, the Parker Group had expanded more than double, even making impressive strides overseas, earning the admiration of many enterprises.

He had significantly contributed to the Parker Group’s economic standing in the country.

However, Quincy had mysteriously disappeared after those few years, so Ezra had only seen him as a shrewd businessman.

But now, after this incident, Ezra felt a newfound respect and admiration for him.

If Quincy had been chosen as the Parker Group’s heir, perhaps it wouldn’t have developed any less than it had under Lawrence.

Unfortunately…

Ezra’s gaze fell on Quincy’s legs in the wheelchair, a flash of sympathy in his eyes.

Gray didn’t understand what Ezra was thinking. He only knew that Quincy was the one who first found the clue about Emily.

To him, Quincy was a benefactor to the Wilson family.

“Quincy, if you ever need anything, just let us know. Ezra’s right; the Wilson family won’t forget your kindness.”

Ezra was now eager to see Emily safe with his own eyes, so he hurriedly left with Gray, casting a warning glance at Lawrence.

As they left, Gray glanced back at Quincy in the wheelchair and turned to Ezra.

“Ezra, don’t you think Quincy and Lawrence look a lot alike? But honestly, I think Quincy is pretty reliable. If only Emily liked him instead…”

Lawrence, of course, heard this.

A few minutes later, only Lawrence and Quincy remained.

Relieved to know Emily was safe, Lawrence sat on a nearby bench, his gaze fixed on Quincy.

They had grown up together, and Lawrence knew Quincy’s capabilities and intelligence better than anyone.

That’s why, when he first took over the Parker Group, James always compared him to Quincy.

In their family, the only one who could rival him was Quincy.

But now, he was puzzled.

Given Quincy’s feelings for Emily, if he knew she had survived the explosion and found clues about her survival, why didn’t he find her himself…

Why didn’t he give her a comforting embrace when she was most vulnerable and scared? Wouldn’t that have brought him closer to her?

Yet, he brought the information here, just to tell Ezra and Gray?

Despite his doubts, Lawrence chose to trust him.

After all, Quincy had brought the news of Emily’s survival when he was at his weakest.

Nothing was more important than that.

The two men locked eyes. Lawrence looked pale and battered, while Quincy, in his wheelchair, appeared composed and dignified, not a crease on his clothes.

Neither spoke until Quincy broke the silence.

“Lawrence, I brought such good news and saved you from Ezra and Gray. Don’t you have anything to say?”

Quincy’s eyes gleamed with satisfaction, a smug smile playing on his lips.

After years of rivalry, if Lawrence couldn’t see through Quincy’s intentions now, he’d have wasted all those years as his opponent.

Especially with what Gray said before leaving, it was a stark reminder.

He thought Quincy had come to save him out of goodwill.

But in reality, Quincy had anticipated that the Wilson family would be the most anxious if something happened to Emily, so he waited for this opportunity.

When Ezra and the others had beaten him to a pulp, Quincy revealed the news of Emily’s survival.

With the Wilson family in chaos, Quincy’s words were like a divine intervention, making them see him as a savior.

So, his target was the Wilson family, not just saving him.

Quincy was smart, knowing that winning over Emily’s family was crucial to winning her heart.

Lawrence chuckled coldly. “What do you want me to say, thank you? Quincy, you can pretend in front of others, but I know you haven’t changed a bit.”

“But I have to admit, you played this well, leaving a good impression on the Wilson family. But don’t get too happy. Emily is mine. As long as we’re not officially divorced, you can’t take her from me!”

Quincy had not only made a good impression on the Wilson family but also taken the opportunity to undermine him.

No wonder James had always held Quincy in high regard; his mind was indeed sharp.

But Lawrence wouldn’t back down easily.

As long as Emily was alive, there was still hope.
