Chapter 9 - A Drunk Pervert

(Freya's POV).

I glanced at Devan who was busy driving the car. His demeanor after we left his parents' house was getting colder. He also suddenly insisted on going home even though we had a short bar there after having dinner together.

Did I make a mistake in ruining his mood?

That question has been running through my mind ever since I left Devan's parents' house. But I didn't dare ask at all because I knew we'd end up fighting.

"Dev," I called in a low voice, but he didn't turn his head or respond to my call.

The atmosphere was so quiet. It made me uncomfortable.

"Did I upset you? Did I do something wrong when we were at your parents' house?" I finally vented my thoughts to him.

He glanced at me with a cold stare.

"Dev."

"Shut up or I'll drop you in the middle of the road."

"I'm just asking, is it wrong? At least tell me where I went wrong," I said because I didn't feel like I did anything wrong.

I had done what he said, so what upset him like this?

I tried to wait for his answer, but he suddenly stopped the car and looked at me with an angry look.

"Get off."

I gasped in shock as he told me to leave the car.

"Wh-what?"

"Get out of the car right now."

"Dev, but it's late. Why are you acting like this?"

"I don't care. Get off."

"Dev...."

"Get off!" he snapped harshly.

I could only swallow my saliva with difficulty when I saw the anger on his face. With trembling hands, I opened the car door and rushed downstairs. Just as I closed the door, he sped away leaving me behind.

"Dev!" I shouted in fear. I tried to chase after him, but couldn't because my legs were still hurting.

In the darkness of the night, no one passed by. I walked with a limp while hugging my own body. The cold was stifling while I was only wearing normal clothes and my jacket was left in the car.

But, that's not what made me worried and scared. Just a few meters ahead of me. I saw a group of people walking towards me. About four men were orbiting with drink bottles in their hands.

My steps suddenly stiffened and I didn't know whether to keep going forward or turn around and look the other way. But, my pace was too slow for those who were walking quickly. Until I could smell the alcohol from their bodies when they were already one meter ahead of me.

"Wow, who are we meeting in the middle of the night like this? On a deserted street and alone."

I gripped my clothes with trembling hands as I saw the long-haired man looking at me with a seductive smile. It made me shudder in horror while his three friends had already walked up to me, surrounding me with their tall, well-built bodies.

"Are you lost, sweetie?"

"Need us to take you home?"

One of them laughed as he spoke. "Or do you want to come to my house? I have warm blankets and a soft bed for us to sleep in."

Terrified, I stepped back to avoid them, but one of them reached out, almost touching my shoulder as I quickly moved my body away from him.

"Hooo, are you in pain? Don't be afraid, sweetie. I won't bite you."

"Just going to a party."

"Party together!"

They laughed crisply while hitting each other's arms. And I could only shudder in horror as I hugged my body tightly. I couldn't look at them at all and kept thinking of all the ways I could escape. But, in the state of my injured leg, I would only end up falling and becoming their prisoner.

"P-please give me away," I said in a trembling voice. Hoping that they still had some sanity left and would let me go without hurting me. But what I heard instead was a seductive laugh and that neat row of white teeth that looked terrifying-like a wolf waiting for its prey to eat.

"Hey, come on. How can we just let you go."

"She looks like an angel. So beautiful. Her skin, oh my god, I want to leave kiss marks all over her body."

I got goosebumps hearing his words. I was getting more and more frightened as my body trembled. As I tried to move backward away from them, they approached me and tried to touch me.

"No! Stop it!" I shouted in fear. My throat felt constricted as I felt my eyes heat up, on the verge of tears.

"No? But you'll like it whenー"

"Freya!"

I hurriedly looked back and was surprised to see Jason standing beside his car. At that moment I saw a glimmer of hope. I quickly tried to run towards him, but the drunks pulled my hand.

"Ah! Let me go! Let me go!" I shouted rebelliously with a terrified face. I trembled as his large hands wrapped around my waist.

"Shit. What the hell!"

I heard Jason swear and ran towards me with an angry face.

"J-Jason, h-help me," I whimpered in fear.

"Let her go or I'll call the police," he threatened.

The drunks immediately let go of me and held their hands up. They looked terrified by Jason's threat. I rushed into Jason's arms and he hugged me so tightly.

"Get out of here, asshole!" he snapped.

I didn't know if the drunks had left because I could only close my eyes with my body trembling with fear. Hugging Jason's body tightly.

"Freya, it's safe. They're gone," he said in a soft voice.

I let go of his embrace and looked up at him with tears already flooding my face.

"Shit, are you crying?" he screeched in disbelief.

I sobbed in front of him. With both hands clutching his clothes with trembling hands.

"I-I was scared. I-I was so scared... There was no one here and they kept trying to tease me. My leg got hurt and I couldn't escape. I thought I was going to...."

"Shush... shush... Calm down. I'm here. You're safe, Freya. I'm sorry." He immediately hugged me tightly and calmed me down while running his fingers through my hair.

Jason's treatment made me feel calm. My body was no longer shaking violently, but I was still sobbing in his arms.

"It's okay. I'm here," he whispered.
