(Devan's POV).
"For all party preparations, I leave everything to the organizing team," I said to all my employees in the meeting room.
"Okay. Sir."
"The party is next month, right?"
"Yes, sir. As you requested, the party will be held at our new hotel and we will invite all our colleagues and other important people who have a good relationship with our company," Stefanny explained.
"Oh, one more thing, don't forget to invite Miss. Viviann Harrow from the L-CO company. She is the most important."
"Yes, sir."
Just then I heard a knock on the door and one of the employees entered awkwardly.
"Excuse me, sir. I'm sorry, but Mr. Everton is waiting in your room. He says it's important," she informed me.
"I get it, thanks," I replied to her. She then left the meeting room again. "Today's meeting will end here. If there is anything that is needed or asked, please confirm with Stefanny or me."
"Yes, sir!"
I stood up and walked over to Stefanny. "Bring me the documents I need to check after I finish talking to Jason," I ordered. She nodded her understanding and I left the meeting room.
I hurried back to my room and saw Jason already sitting on the L-shaped sofa. He stood up immediately when he saw me. He walked over to me with a surprised look on his face.
"What happened?" he demanded. He glared sharply at me. "What happened, huh?! Why is she... I mean, Vivian, why is she so similar to Freya?!"
"See? You also think that she looks like Freya. That means I'm not crazy."
"You're crazy!" he groaned while scrunching his waist. Annoyed, he sat back down on the sofa. He dropped his gaze back to me. "Explain it to me, damn it! I was such an idiot when I came there and saw how similar they were! I almost acted crazy, but I tried to restrain myself."
"How was your meeting?" I grabbed two cans of soda from the fridge in my study, then tossed one to Jason before I sat down in front of him.
"How what?" he frowned. "I'm in shock."
"Is he being nice to you?"
"Well, yeah?"
I smiled wryly. "I knew you were still her special one. Whenever she's with me, she's always cold and seems to keep her distance."
"Maybe your first impression was bad. That's why she's being cold to you. Then again, I came here to order a wedding dress."
I took a sip of my drink while looking at her.
"Tell me, is she Freya? Or is she a different person and just has the same face as Freya," Jason said. He asked again with a panicked and curious expression on his face.
I shook my head. "I don't know, but she's really from the Harrow family. There's nothing suspicious about her personal information. But my heart tells me that she is Freya."
I could see Jason swallow his saliva, looking at me uneasily.
"Listen, Dev. Don't ever make the mistakes you've made in the past. Because of your stupidity, we have lost the woman we love. It doesn't matter if she's Freya or Vivian. Stop being so rude."
"I won't. I just feel that... this is my chance to atone for all my sins. That's why I told you to come to her to order your wedding dresses," I said as I leaned my back on the head of the sofa. "Help me get closer to Vivian. If she's nice to you, of course, you can be friends again."
"You think you won't be burned with jealousy again?"
"Well, you're getting married. That's not important."
Jason laughed. "I'm not going to help you. You know, I'm still upset about what you've done in the past."
"Didn't I prove to you that I didn't kill Theo?!" I snapped.
"Yes, but you hurt Freya. And I won't let that happen again. That obsession of yours might hurt Vivian like it did Freya. She's someone else, even though they have the same face, but she's Vivian, not Freya."
"I swear I will never hurt her. Are you satisfied? I'm just asking you to help me get closer to her. I beg you." This is the first time I've ever begged like this. And to Jason.
He looked at me with a probing gaze. "If I find out you made her cry, I'll expose all your past crimes to Vivian so she'll hate you and stay away from you."
"Understood. That's never going to happen," I insisted, staring intently at Jason.
"Shit. How could something like this happen? I still can't even believe what I saw!"
"Don't tell anyone about this, including my parents or Aiden. I don't want them to be shocked," I pleaded.
"Okay. I understand," he replied. "What flavor do you want?"
"Next meeting, just tell me that I have a friend who wants a dress fitting. I need an excuse to meet her. Since I don't want to make her feel even more uncomfortable, I can't force her to meet me. I don't want her to hate me."
"Well, look who's working hard to meet the woman he's interested in. Do you like her because she looks like Freya?" he asked.
I blinked. Shrugging my shoulders. "I just feel that I should pursue her or I'll regret it a second time."
Just then someone knocked on my office door, followed by Stefanny's voice.
"Sir, Miss Viona here to see you."
Before I could answer, Viona had entered my office with an annoyed look on her face. Her face bent even further when she saw Jason.
"What are you doing here?" Jason asked curtly.
"I should be the one asking what you're doing here!" snapped Viona.
"Devan is my friend. It's only natural that I came to visit him. And you? A nobodyー"
"Shut up, Jason!" She interrupted him with a curse. And then, stared at me with both hands on her waist. "Dev! Tell me, is it true that you had dinner with the daughter of the Harrow family?!"
I looked at Viona, then I felt a tap on my shoulder. "Don't let Viona know or you'll be in big trouble," he whispered before he walked away from me.
