(DEVAN'S POV).
I growled, pushing Viona away from me. She looked at me disappointed with my rejection.
"Viona...."
"Why?" she protested, "Why, Dev?"
"Don't do this. I have a wife." I gripped both of Viona's shoulders. Trying to make sure she wouldn't be as brutal as before.
"But I loved you first!"
"Viona, you better behave yourself. Youー"
"I love you, Dev," she whispered hoarsely.
My eyes were fixed on her. There was a feeling of guilt. We've known each other for a long time. Our families were on good terms and I already thought of her as my sister.
"No, you can't. Forget what you feel and find a good man to be your boyfriend," I advised.
But she growled in protest. Her hand gripped my arm. She had a disappointed look on her face.
"I just want you. We could have had a more serious relationship if you hadn't met her. It's all her fault for teasing youー"
"That's enough. I ask you here just to warn you not to bother her again. In any case. If you feel that you don't like her, take it out on me. Do you got it?"
"Dev...."
"Answer me. Do you got it?" I insisted.
She gave me an annoyed look.
"Okay. Let's do what you want. But, have sex with me if you want me to leave her alone."
"Viona don't be crazy!"
"I'm not crazy! I'm doing this because I love you. I want you to be mine, Dev." Her voice disappeared. Her hands squeezed my front shirt. Staring at me with her teary eyes.
I growled. "Don't degrade yourself just for me. I'm not the nice guy you think I am. I'm bad. And you'll regret it," I warned him.
"I don't care."
I sighed as her arms wrapped around my neck. Kissing my lips back. I pushed her away quickly, but I lost my balance and I fell onto the couch. With her on top of me.
"Viona. Stop," I warned.
"No! Like I said. I'll do anything to annoy Freya. Even if it means bankrupting the boutique. So, do as I ask if you don't want to see her ruined."
I growled as Viona squeezed mine. Making me unable to think clearly. Something she shouldn't be doing with me. This was wrong and I had to stop her immediately if she didn't want to regret it.
She tried to kiss me, but I pushed her away. Grabbing both of her shoulders with such force that she winced in pain.
"Stop."
"Dev!"
"Stop or you'll never see my face again. Our relationship ends here if you keep this up," I threatened. Her hand trembled. Stopped at the second button from the top as she tried to open my shirt. Tears fell from the corners of her lips.
"I hate you, Dev. I hate you," she sobbed. Her head fell onto my shoulder her tears breaking.
I breathed a sigh of relief. But felt sorry for her. All I could do was keep quiet and try to calm her down.
"I love you as family."
"No. I won't accept it," she protested, still crying on my shoulder.
"Shush... hey, hey." I pushed her body so that I could wipe away her tears. I looked at her intently. "You're a good and precious woman. Meet a good man too who loves you sincerely. Got it?"
Viona just looked at me while sobbing. Shaking her head repeatedly as a rejection she gave. At that moment, the ringing of my cell phone made me turn my gaze to my desk.
"I have to take a call," I said, telling her to stand up from my lap. She complied and sat down on the sofa, busily wiping away her tears.
I walked over to the desk and saw Elliot's name pop up on my phone screen as I was about to pick it up.
"Yes, Elliot?"
"Mr. Harrison, I just wanted to let you know that Miss Freya didn't eat her food," she says from the other side of the phone.
"What about last night?"
"She didn't eat it either. I just delivered her lunch, but she threw it in the sink."
"Bring her a new food and make sure you watch her eat it all. If she still refuses, force her to eat," I insisted. I glanced at Viona who was looking at me questioningly. But I tried to ignore her and stood back.
"Alright."
"Elliot," I called.
"Yes?"
"I'll be home soon."
"Yes. I understand."
I sighed heavily as I hung up our phone call and turned around. I noticed that Viona was still staring at me as I placed my phone on the table.
"Did something happen?" she asked. I was sure she was dying to ask.
"Nothing."
"Did you fight with her?"
I furrowed my brow. Staring at her sharply.
"Stop being so annoying, Viona. You can go now." I growled as I massaged my temples. The dizziness in my head returned. The medicine Stefanny had given me didn't seem to be taking effect, and I was getting dizzy again after hearing the news from Elliot.
Either way, I didn't want to be bothered by anyone for now.
"But I've only been here a short while," she protested.
I chuckled in annoyance. "Viona," I hissed.
"Okay. Fine, I'll go!"
She stood up in exasperation. Grabbed her bag in a hurry and walked out of my room with a loud slam of the door.
I sighed heavily. Sitting on the chair with all the heavy thoughts that now seemed to hit my head.
"Damn it," I swore, "fuck if she wants to eat or not. I should be happy to see her miserable."
My hands clenched into fists. I pounded the table in anger.
"She's really making me lose my mind!" I snapped.
I got up from my chair and walked out of my room. I walked hurriedly to Stefanny's desk.
"Stefanny." She stood up immediately when she saw me approaching her. "The meeting has been postponed. I have to go home now."
I walked away without waiting for her answer and she looked confused as she watched me leave.
I drove my car at high speed through the streets of New York City. During the trip, I didn't stop swearing with the harshest words I knew. And on the way home I couldn't stop thinking about Freya.
Arriving home, I went straight to Elliot. She rushes up to me as I'm coming out of the kitchen.
"Mr. Harrison. Are you home?"
"Hm. How was it?"
She shakes her head apologetically and my teeth chatter knowing Freya has again rejected his food.
"She spilled it on the floor. I just cleaned it up and was about to bring it back to her room," she informs.
"Give it to me. Let me take it to her room."
