Chapter 23 - A Suicide?

(FREYA'S POV).

I glanced at the door when I heard someone opening it. It must be Elliot. I was sick and tired of her coming in and out of my room with food for me. Even though I kept refusing even to the point of throwing the food into the sink. He kept forcing me to eat it.

I was already weak enough to rebel again. All my strength was gone. All I've done since yesterday is sit on the bed crying over my situation.

Devan didn't care at all. Even after what he did, he didn't check on my condition and still locked me in my room all day.

"Just go, El. No matter how many times you force me, I won'tー"

"Then let's see if you also refuse if I force you."

I paused. My eyes widened when I saw Devan appear from behind the door. With a tray of food in his hand. Still wearing his suit.

I immediately looked away. Ignored his presence and sat quietly on the bed.

I was tired.

I hated my life.

I glanced sharply at him as he sat down and placed the tray of food he had brought on the bedside table.

He mocked my pale face. "Like the undead..."

I gripped the blanket covering my legs. Glared at him.

"Go out and bring back the food. I don't need it," I snapped. My voice was hoarse, and dry because my throat hadn't touched water since last night. It felt like there were thousands of needles stuck in my throat. My lips were dry and stinging.

He chuckled. Once again mocking my condition. He knew I was weak. He knew I had no strength.

"Stop making drama and eat," he ordered.

"I told you. I don't need it!" I snapped. I pushed the food tray to the floor. The prank sound was loud enough to make me flinch and everything crumbled on the floor.

He groaned and I glared at him. I didn't care if he was angry or rude to me. In the end, I wouldn't be free from his grasp either.

"I won't eat until you stop locking me in my room," I hissed. I swallowed my saliva with difficulty. It was the only way to keep my throat moist even though I knew it wasn't enough.

“So that you can go back to being a whore?"

My eyes heated up at his harsh words. I bit my lip so hard it bled.

"You married this whore, Dev. It's not my fault."

His gaze was sharp and cold. I knew it hurt his pride. But that was nothing compared to all the harsh words he hurled at me.

He grinned in annoyance. "Then how about you do your duty as a whore and make me feel good in bed."

I glared with panic and surprise as he stood up and took off his suit, and then his tie while staring lustfully at me. My heart was beating so fast. I didn't want to end up sleeping with him. Not after everything he did to me.

I had to do something. Something to get me out of this. Then my gaze ended at the shards of glass scattered on the floor. Something horrible popped into my head.

Something that I might regret.

I got off the bed and quickly pushed his body. Grabbing one of the glass shards on the floor. I half winced when the sharp edge of the glass hit my finger, causing it to bleed.

My hands were shaking, but I tried to hold them together. I stared at him sharply with the tip of the broken glass pressed against my neck.

"If you dare to touch me, I won't hesitate to tear my neck," I threatened.

My eyes widened in disbelief as I watched him chuckle at my threat. He seemed so calm.

"You think you have the guts to do it?"

I scraped my neck quickly and his gaze turned dark. Full of anger.

"I can do much more than this if you don't let me go," I threatened. I could feel the blood seeping from my neck, and then came the stinging pain. It caused a sensation of pain and fear that I had never felt before.

"Then, continue. I want to see how brave you are to end your life."

I gasped as he walked closer to me. My eyes widened with exploding fear.

"Stop! Stop!" I shouted. I pressed the shard further until it hurt my neck and I winced in pain.

"Come on. Why did you stop?"

He was provoking me on purpose. I stepped back to avoid him uneasily. Staring at him with my trembling eyeballs. My hand was already bleeding from my hand gripping the shard so tightly.

"I said, stop!" I shouted. I grew more agitated and scared as my back hit the cold. For a second I lost focus and looked back. "Akh!" I screamed as it was used as an opportunity for Devan to grab the broken glass from my hand.

I glared at him as I saw blood dripping from his hand. Quite a lot of blood came out of his hand that was holding the broken glass.

My hands were shaking violently. My tears came out without me realizing it. That much blood came out and he just looked at me expressionlessly. It gave me goosebumps from the fear that exploded. My chest felt tight making it difficult to breathe. My head felt dizzy, and heavy, like a rock had hit it and throbbed with pain.

"What are you doing?!" I stared at him wide-eyed.

"This is how you threaten people."

My body trembled even more as he grasped the broken glass in his hand even tighter until the blood dripped even more.

"Stop. Stop it!"

I couldn't bear to look at it. It was horrible. My stomach felt sick and I felt like vomiting. I looked at her in horror and tried to reach out to her. But, my steps were suddenly unsteady.

My head felt dizzy, everything seemed to be spinning around making me stagger to the side. I winced in pain as the pain in my head got worse. Then my vision became blurry. And the last thing I remember, I collapsed with everything going dark.
