Chapter 164 Meteor Shower

Chapter 164 Meteor Shower

Gerald's eyes lit up like spotlights the moment he saw Sophia.

He adjusted his garish, bright pink suit and clutched the velvet jewelry box, brimming with confidence as he started up the steps.

"Sophia! Do you love the surprise I prepared for you?" he called out loudly, his smugness completely undisguised.

How this moron had found out her name was anyone's guess.

Sophia couldn't even be bothered to give him a contemptuous look. She turned around directly and spoke coldly to the security chief who had rushed over, looking thoroughly embarrassed.

"Clear it out. Immediately. If this person comes near Windsor Group again, call the police and have him removed."

"Yes, ma'am!"

The security chief looked relieved and immediately waved for his team of guards to move in and start dismantling the roses and banner.

Gerald's smile froze on his face as he tried to push past the security guards, "Hey! What are you doing? Do you know who I am? I'm here to confess my feelings!"

"Sir, you need to leave immediately, or we'll call the police for disturbing the peace."

The security chief's tone was firm, and several burly guards had already surrounded Gerald.

"Sophia! You..."

Gerald tried to shout again, but the guards unceremoniously escorted him off the premises. His bright yellow Lamborghini was also urged to leave, creating quite a chaotic and embarrassing scene.

Sophia watched expressionlessly as everything was swiftly cleaned up, as if the ridiculous spectacle had never happened.

She rubbed her temples and was about to turn around and go back upstairs to continue the meeting when her phone buzzed in her pocket.

She pulled it out to see a message from Henry, brief and to the point: [Handled? Come up for a moment.]

Sophia's eyes flickered. He knew about it?

Well, of course. With such a commotion downstairs, how could he not have noticed?

The security response was probably arranged by him, too.

Sophia couldn't help but smile slightly.

She took the executive elevator straight to the top floor CEO's office.

When she pushed the door open, Henry was standing in front of the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, looking down at the plaza that had just been cleared below. His silhouette was tall and stern.

"Mr. Windsor," Sophia announced her presence.

Henry turned around, his deep gaze settling on her face. His expression was unreadable, but the atmosphere in the office seemed somewhat heavy.

"Gerald?" he said, his voice calm but carrying a barely perceptible chill. "From the Green family."

Sophia raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised he knew of Gerald. Then she understood—in this city, probably nothing could truly escape Henry's notice.

"Yeah, he rear-ended my car before. Some rich guy with serious mental issues," she said, her tone clearly disgusted.

Henry walked over to her, studying her expression carefully as if to confirm whether the spectacle had affected her.

"Shaken up?"

Sophia snorted. "Just disgusted and amused."

The cold glint in Henry's eyes finally faded slightly. He relaxed and his tone returned to its usual calm, "Don't worry about it. I've given instructions. The Green family will receive a warning."

His casual statement was enough to ensure the Green family would have a difficult time for quite a while.

He paused, as if suddenly remembering something, and said, "Are you free tonight?"

"Hmm? Something up?" Sophia looked up at him.

"There's a Leonid meteor shower tonight with decent peak activity. I know a good spot for viewing—quiet with excellent visibility."

Henry looked at her, his eyes holding an invitation. "Want to go watch together?"

Hiking up a mountain to watch a meteor shower?

Sophia was somewhat surprised, but considering the earlier spectacle, perhaps a change of scenery would be nice. Besides, watching a meteor shower with him didn't sound bad at all.

She nodded, "Alright."

After work that evening, Henry drove personally, taking Sophia away from the city center.

The car eventually stopped at the foot of a mountain that wasn't particularly high but was clearly undeveloped.

The environment here was serene and far from light pollution—definitely a good place for stargazing.

"We're hiking up?"

Sophia looked at the winding mountain trail and raised an eyebrow.

She was wearing her usual work shoes—not high heels, but certainly not suitable for hiking.

Henry retrieved a bag from the trunk containing a pair of new, soft flat shoes in her size.

"Put these on," he said naturally.

Sophia's heart stirred slightly. She took the shoes and changed into them—they fit perfectly.

The two began ascending the mountain path.

Initially, Sophia could keep up with Henry's pace, but less than halfway up, she was breathing heavily, clearly running out of steam.

After all, being busy with work meant little time for exercise.

Henry slowed down, turning to see the fine sheen of sweat on her forehead and her slightly flushed cheeks. Without saying anything, he naturally extended his hand.

Sophia hesitated for a moment, then placed her hand in his.

They continued for a while longer, but on a somewhat steep section, Sophia's legs were really giving out.

Henry stopped and looked at her sideways, "Can't make it?"

Sophia didn't want to show weakness and stubbornly insisted, "I'm still okay..."

Before she could finish speaking, Henry suddenly crouched down in front of her, his tone brooking no argument, "Get on."

Sophia was stunned, "What?"

"I'll carry you up," Henry replied matter-of-factly. "At your pace, the meteor shower will be over before we reach the summit."

Looking at his broad back, Sophia's face grew warm. After struggling internally for a few seconds, she finally climbed on.

Henry easily lifted her and continued climbing with steady steps.

Lying against his solid back, feeling his steady heartbeat and body warmth, Sophia's initial shyness gradually gave way to an indescribable sense of security and flutter.

The mountain breeze carried the fresh scent of grass and trees. Around them were only the sounds of insects and their own breathing.

In this moment, it felt like they were the only two people in the world.

Finally reaching the summit—a relatively flat clearing—Henry carefully set Sophia down.

By now, the sky had completely darkened. The deep night sky was dotted with countless stars, the Milky Way faintly visible. Far from the city's light pollution, the starscape here was pure and magnificent.

"Look over there," Henry pointed toward the northeastern sky.

Just as he finished speaking, a bright streak of light suddenly cut across the night sky, trailing a long silver tail before instantly disappearing.

Then came the second, the third... More and more meteors began appearing, sometimes scattered across the sky, blazing in clusters like a grand cosmic fireworks display.

"Here they come!"

Sophia couldn't help but exclaim softly, tilting her head back and watching this breathtaking natural wonder without blinking, her face glowing with pure delight and excitement.

She immediately clasped her hands together, closed her eyes, and made a devout wish.

Henry wasn't watching the meteors. His gaze remained fixed on Sophia's profile the entire time.
