Chapter 91 They are spying?

Chapter 91 They are spying?
Lia

I looked. He was right. Every man there was either pretending to eat while watching Owen stumble over his words, or they were staring openly with huge, knowing smiles.

“You were keeping secrets from me?” Hex asked. There was real pain in his eyes.

“No! It just… I did not think to mention it. I knew about the tour. It was supposed to start after my whole… thing.”

When Owen said ‘thing,’ Hex made a low, angry noise in his throat. Owen let out a nervous laugh.

“Sorry, Honey Bear. I know you do not like me talking about my former sugar daddy.”

A few breaths caught around the table at ‘sugar daddy.’ Someone muttered, “Honey Bear?” Beast and I were clutching each other, trying not to laugh out loud.

One of the girls giggled and said, “Get it, Owen!” Hex turned and shot her a look that could freeze fire. She dropped her head and shoved food in her mouth.

“I am sorry, baby. It honestly slipped my mind. When Willy called about the promotion tonight, I remembered. It is only a week. I do a show each night and we stay at a hotel. The shows run from ten until two. You can come stay with me at the hotel, if you want to.”

“You are damn right I will be there. I am not having a bunch of men staring and drooling all over you. They need to know you are mine,” Hex grumbled. “You will wear my vest.”

“Honey, I can not.”

Another round of shocked silence.

“Why the fuck not?” Hex snapped.

“It will ruin the look of my costumes.”

“So my cut is not good enough for the great Misfit? Is that what you are telling me?” Hex stood up, his voice rising. Beast and I stopped smiling. This was turning bad.

“Oh hell, Hex is about to blow a gasket,” Rockstar said to the men near him. “His jealous side is running the show.”

“He needs to shut it down,” River said quietly. “Owen will not stand for being yelled at.”

He was right. When Owen gets his heart bruised, he remembers it for a long time.

“That is not what I am saying, Honey Bear. Let us not say things we do not mean.”

“Things I do not mean? If my property cut is not good enough for Misfit, then maybe it is not good enough for Owen, either. Would not want your fans to know you are with a guy like me.”

Hex turned and marched out toward his room. Owen looked at me, panic all over his face, then around at everyone watching. He jumped up and ran out of the clubhouse. I started to get up to follow, but Beast’s arm kept me in place.

“I have to go to him. Please, Cam. He has always been there for me.”

Hearing his real name made his eyes go gentle. He nodded and let me go.

“Stay inside the fence. Both of you. Do not go past the gate,” he said. I knew it was for protection, so I agreed and went to find Owen.

Outside, I saw Owen by the gate, having words with a prospect named Jake. As I got closer, Jake shot me a look so full of hate it stopped me cold. What did I ever do to him? I stared right back, then went to Owen. I put my arms around him and heard Jake make a disgusted sound. I looked at him, my eyes asking what his problem was. He just turned his back.

“Come take a walk with me,” I said to Owen. I took his hand and led him around to the back of the clubhouse.

“I really fucked up. He hates me,” Owen cried.

“He does not hate you. He got jealous. You are his man. I think he is crazy about you.”

“Did you not hear him? He took it all back! I knew this would happen. The first man I have ever fallen for, and he tears my heart out in less than a month.”

“Is not that a little over the top?”

“No, it is not over the top! I love him!”

“You love me?” Hex asked, his voice quiet.

We both spun around. Hex was standing right behind us.

“Where did you come from? You did not hear anything. I was just being extra,” Owen said, crossing his arms and turning away.

I pressed my lips together to keep from smiling. I hugged Owen, then walked to Hex. I hugged him and said, “Good luck,” right into his ear before kissing his cheek. Owen needed to see that, to know he should listen.

I walked back inside and found Beast.

“All good?” he asked.

“It will be. Owen just shouted that he loves Hex, and Hex was standing right there listening. So I am sure they are working it out now.”

That is when I saw a line of bikers stretched from the kitchen to the dining area, all craning their necks to see out the back door.

“What are they doing?” I asked Beast.

“Watching the live performance out back.”

“They are spying?”

He nodded. Just then, the whole line of men hurried back to their seats, looking a bit stunned.

“Witnessed something I never needed to see. Need to go bleach my eyes,” River grumbled.

I looked at all the serious nods, confused. Rockstar saw my face.

“Let us just say we all got a clear view of Owen going down on his knees. You get the idea.”

I burst out laughing. That’s my Owen.
