Chapter 117 - The Betrayed Luna They Want

ENZO’s POV.

Four months later.

“Congratulations” Lawrence says as he walks up to me, “your wife has given birth to healthy babies”

I sniff back the tears that had welled in my eyes earlier and my lips curls into a huge smile thinking about the pain she was in seven hours ago.

This has been four months after the Maria incident and I have not seen or heard anything from her. Maybe she realized that having me was something her powers couldn’t get her and decided to return to her abode and Nicholas? He still is in my moonstone dungeon and he will never see the light of day as long as it doesn't cause any more damage, I will leave him to die slowly.

Everything has been going perfectly and I want it to remain that way. The love, my wife and my life, I want everything to continue being the best it can be for us and our new gremlins.

“Enzo!!” Lawrence calls out to me again and I jolt out of my train of thoughts, “won’t you come in to see your wife and your babies?”

My heart skips a beat as he calls them my babies. How I wish they were truly mine but even at that, they belong to me regardless and no force in this world or ours is strong enough to ever take them away from me.

“Sure, I will see them now”

As soon as I push open the door and venture into the room, my eyes catch Michelle lying down on the bed and she looks so weak yet strong. This is my woman, the one who brought light into my life and the one who has brought my babies into this world.

To me, she is the strongest of them all.

“Hey baby” I walk up to her and perch on the bed lightly,

“how do you feel now?” I ask gently as I wipe the beads of sweat on her face, “you are so strong, i couldn’t even contend with you”

“My babies are healthy, Enzo” Michelle tells me as tears well up in her eyes.

“Of course” I flash her a thin smile as I press a kiss on her

hand, “you are the healthiest woman I know, of course our babies would be healthy. I can’t wait to take you all home and take care of you for the rest of my life”

Michelle sniffs back a tear as she grabs a hold of my hand gently,

“Why are you so good to me babe? You took someone else’s…

“Shhhh” I press my index finger on her lips, “no babe, don’t say that. Those gremlins belong to the two of us”

I stand up from the bed and slowly walk towards the cradle.

My face breaks into a smile when I behold the three little gremlins and my heart swells in joy. The three of them look so cute that I want to hold them in my hands and cuddle them for as long as I can.

“So cute” I mutter under my breath, “baby Odette will surely be my favorite” I tell my wife as I turn to her, “I am going to spoil her rotten”

“And I get to spoil the boys?” Michelle asks from where she is lying down.

“No, we won’t Pamper them” I tell her, “they are boys and they are wolves, their only purpose in life is to take care of their sister and I am going to make sure they remember that for the rest of their lives”

“Are you trying to be partial now?”

“Of course” I walk back to her again and lower myself on the bed beside her, “she deserves all the love in the world and I am going to give her that”

“Oh Enzo” Michelle swallows hard, “let’s have another baby soon” she says and my forehead creases into a slight frown.

“No” I immediately refute, “I can’t bear to see you in pain anymore, three is enough for us”

I know exactly what is going on in her mind and I don’t know how to tell this woman that no matter how she thinks about it, it won’t change the fact that I have accepted these little gremlins as mine and even Nicholas will never be able to take them away from me. I am their father and they are my babies and this woman is my wife and that’s the reality of life.

“I have no words to say to you, Enzo” Michelle continues, “thank you so much for accepting me and my babies and even taking them as your own. I will forever be grateful to you for giving me a new lease on life”

“We complete each other babe” I tell her, “and I want you to remember that. The past nine months have been the best part of my life and if I can go back in time, I will not have done anything differently. You and our babies are my life and I will keep protecting you with everything I have got”

I press a gentle kiss on her forehead and a smile creeps up on her face.

“Now focus on getting better and I will focus on taking care of our babies”

“Hmmm” Michelle nods and I pull my body out of the bed but before I move, she grabs a hold of my hand and I immediately know what she wants to say.

“I will make arrangements for that” I tell her, “don’t worry about that”

“Is that okay by you?”

“Of course” I answer, “everything you want, I will have it done for you and you should always have that at the back of your head”

“Thank you baby”

With a nod, I make my way out of the room before dialing a number and she answers on the first ring.

“How is Michelle, Enzo?” Izzy asks from the other end of the line.

“She and the babies are fine, izzy” I tell her and I hear her mutter a thank you to the moon goddess.

“I will finish up what I am doing and I will be on my way to the hospital”

“Before that” i stop her, “I want you to do something before you come here”

“What is it about?”

I heave a sigh as I massage the space between my brows. I know Michelle wants this and I am more than happy to let her have it.

“I want you to release Nicholas” I tell her and I hear a gasp from her mouth.

“Why, Enzo? You have kept him captive for months, why do you want to release him now?”

“Michelle wants me to” I tell her.

“Does she want to go back to her ex husband?”

I can’t help but chuckle lightly, “you ask a lot of questions my dear Izzy, just do as I have said and don’t ask me questions anymore”

“Fine, I will do as you say then I will be on my way to the hospital”

After I end the call, I lower myself on one of the chairs as the image of those babies wind their way into my head again.

I love them so much, I love them as much as I love their mother and nothing can change that and I am going to keep protecting them with everything I have got, come what may.

“You are finally a father” my wolf says inside of me and I scoff.

“Of course” I tell myself, “you should be proud of me”

“How I wish they actually belonged to you”

“They are mine” i retort immediately, “mine and mine alone”

I will kill anyone who comes close to them.

After taking my wife and babies home, I give Izzy and Michelle’a aunt a few instructions before leaving again. I want to meet Nicholas before Michelle meets him. I want to be sure he will not try anything stupid anymore. Four months was enough for him to turn a new leaf. He caused her so much pain and is not even worthy to stand beside her but if she wants to meet him, I can not stop her but I can stop Nicholas from acting a fool.

As I push the door open, my eyes fall on him and for a moment, I don’t even recognize the man in front of me.

This is the first time I have come to see him after locking him up four months ago. His sister and some of his pack members have come to me countless times to beg and plead for his release but I refused every single time and I even threatened to kill them if they came to me again.

The words must have spread that I am a true blooded alpha and no one has bothered me since then.

The only thing that I am yet to do is bring Adeline to her knees in front of my wife and Izzy and make her pay for what she did but that doesn’t mean I won’t be happy. Infact, I am the happiest man right now.

Nicholas looks like a shadow of his former self and I can hardly feel any power emanating from him, the moonstones must have done more than enough damage to this alpha in front of me.

“I see you didn’t die” I say as I come to a halt in front of me.

“Maria is evil” he tells me immediately, “I found out, you should protect Michelle from her”

“You do not have to worry about my wife, Nicholas” I say while folding my hands across my chest, “and as for Maria, I already know who she is”

“Then we must do everything to take her down, she is planning on killing Michelle. I haven’t seen her in a while but I have a feeling she is coming back and she will..

“Hold that thought” I immediately stop him, “you don’t have to tell me anything, i know It all already”

“So why did you have me released, Enzo?” Nick asks again as he lowers himself on the couch, “you should have left me there, I would have been dead in a couple of months anyways”

“I actually wanted to leave you there until you died but my wife is a bit generous and wanted you released”

At the mention of Michelle, I see how his face lights up but he doesn’t say anything and I continue to speak,

“This is the last time I will be doing you any favors, Woodsborn. Michelle has put to bed and I think she wants you to come see the babies once before you finally leave our lives forever”

“My baby has been born?”

“Not your baby” i snap at him, “make sure to get that straight. I will ask someone to come pick you tomorrow and you can come over to the house but let me warn you, if you try anything stupid, I will offer you as a welcome sacrifice to my babies”

Not bothering to wait for his response, I turn around to leave but his next words halted me.

“In my next life, I am going to make sure to contend with you for her love, Enzo so you better watch out for me”

“And I will beat you every single time” with that, I disappear out of the room as a smile creeps up on my face.
