Chapter 116 - The Betrayed Luna They Want
MICHELLE’s POV
Ten minutes ago.
“Dang it” i hiss in anger as the blood continues to trickle down my pinky finger. Out of anger, I have hurt myself all because of that fraud, Maria.
Closing my mouth over my finger, I feel my wound close up and I can't help but roll my eyes.
Just as I make to leave the bathroom, my eyes come across the mirror and I see the woman from earlier. The same one who told me how much Enzo loves me, now I know why she felt familiar. How couldn’t I have known who she was?
“I knew you felt familiar” I tell the figure in the mirror and she nods.
“You were so invested in your husband that you couldn’t recognize me”
“My apologies goddess selene” I bow to her slightly, “I didn’t know you came to see me personally”
“Of course dear, you won’t bother about me when Enzo is always beside you to protect you” she tells me, “but I must warn you dear, you have to make haste and put everything in place. The one who is the enemy is a much bigger enemy than you can imagine”
“What do you mean goddess, what are you talking about…
“My sister has her eyes on your Enzo and I hope you can stop her soon. This is as much as I can help you. There is a limit to what I can do since I do not want to mess with the balance of the world”
At the mention of her sister, a much deeper frown appears on my face.
“What do you mean goddess?”
“You must have heard of my sister in one way or another, she has her eyes on your fated mate and you have to stop her. Once Enzo is under her control, you will not be able to save him.
“What…” the words hang in my throat because by now she is already gone and now I am standing looking confused. What exactly did she mean by her sister? I have heard about the goddess Eed but what exactly is her business with my Enzo?
The more I think about it, the more confused I am.
Pushing the thoughts to the back of my head, I go out to look for Enzo. I am sure he would have an explanation for what happened but he is not in the room which makes the frown on my face deepen.
Just as I open the door, her voice filters into my ear.
“You asked me to drop the act and now I will” this is what Maria says and the words of the moon goddess replays in my head.
Maria can not be the person the moon goddess is talking about right? I can understand the fact that she is obsessed with my Enzo but a goddess?
I shake my head in the negative, this isn’t right. It can not be her.
“Look beyond what you see, dear child” a voice plays out in my head again, “you will find the answer you need”
Then it dawns on me, Maria has been the culprit all these time. She has been the one causing us pain and suffering, she is the mastermind behind everything that has been happening and I find it hard to believe. How come we didn't know and we didn’t suspect her even for a second, she really is a sly one.
Even after confronting her and she leaves, I still find it hard to believe because she doesn’t look like someone who is capable of all the evil things she has done. She clearly isn’t just a woman who is obsessed with my husband but a goddess? What exactly does Enzo have that all the women close to him want? The more I think about it, the more I am unable to fathom it.
“What did you say?” Enzo asks and I jolt out of my train of thought, “what did you say about Maria?”
“It seems like a goddess had to turn herself into a human to be close to you dear husband. Tell me, what exactly do you have that even a goddess will want you so badly and come for you?”
“I am a very handsome and made man you know”
“Oh please” I can’t help but roll my eyes, “that’s not enough reason”
“You are looking down on me, aren’t you?”
“Cut the crap” I roll my eyes at him as I laugh gently.
I don’t know why but even after finding out who Maria really is, I am not as scared as I should be. Maybe because I have come across a lot of other evil people and I am not surprised anymore, rather I find it amusing and exciting. I don’t know what she has planned but I know I am not losing my husband to a goddess whom I don’t even know or worship. If the moon goddess told me about her, it means she is watching everything that is happening and I doubt she will allow anything to happen as of yet.
“You have been zoning in and out of your thoughts, babe” Enzo’s voice reach me again, “what exactly are you thinking about?”
“I am thinking about Maria and what she has planned next. Who knows what she will do now?”
“She won’t do anything” Enzo tells me, “you don’t have to worry about that”
“And how sure are you?”
“She is clearly obsessed with me so she won’t do anything to hurt me and I won’t let her hurt you either”
“Hmmm” I walk towards the wall and lean on it, “why do you sound so nonchalant though? You don’t even look surprised at our findings”
“We have tackled a lot lately, I won't be surprised at anything anymore and I know you are thinking the same thing. We should focus on our honeymoon for now, that’s the most important thing”
We are still talking when the butler walks up to us and bows lightly.
“Dinner has been served sir” he says, “and we made everything to how you have instructed”
“We will be down in a jiffy” Enzo tells him and he nods before walking off again.
“Do you think we should cut our trip short?” I ask out of nowhere and Enzo raises an eyebrow at me.
“That’s not happening, Mish”
“But we need to make sure Maria won't do anything stupid, you know…
“Everyone connected to us can take care of themselves, Mish” he tells me again; “we don’t have to bother about everything or anyone and I am done doing that. You and our babies are my only priority now and I am only concerned about protecting you too”
“Awwww” a smile creeps up on my face, why will I be scared when I have the world’s best husband?” I pull him into my arms and encircle his torso, “even the moon goddess told me you loved me so much and would do anything for me”
“You see that?” Enzo pulls me closer to himself, “and I will always protect you no matter what”
“I asked them to make your favorite food, why don’t we have dinner?”
“I am suddenly craving some spicy noodles babe” I tell him with a pout, “i think my hormones are acting out again, being pregnant is really not an easy thing”
Enzo raises his eyebrows, “so you want spicy noodles?”
“Hmmm” I nod frantically, “why don’t we grab some! It could make up for the tour we didn’t complete earlier today because of Maria”
“Fine” hubby finally agrees, “I will grab the car keys and come”
As soon as he enters the room, I pull out my phone and immediately dial a number, the person from the other end answers on the first ring and her bubbly voice filters through.
“Hey sister in law, I was just thinking about you” Izzy says from the other end.
“I have a task for you, Izzy” I immediately go straight to the point, “I want you to keep an eye on Maria for me for now”
“Why? Did she do something?”
“You don’t have to tell her” Enzo says as he encircles my waist from behind, “she will freak out unnecessarily”
“Just keep an eye on her for me, Izzy. She is head over heels for your brother and I need to protect what’s mine”I am not going to hide that fact from Izzy, everyone needs to know how obsessed she is with my man.
“That vile woman” Izzy growls from the other end of the line, “should I gouge her eyes out of its socket!? I knew that bitch was up to no good”
I can’t help but laugh at her outburst, this sister in law of mine sure knows how to be extra.
“Just keep an eye on her Izzy and stop being extra” Enzo half yells into the phone, “you have a husband yet you are so gangster”
With that, I end the call as the man behind me places a kiss on my neck.
“Should we go now?”
“Hmm” I nod and he grabs a hold of my hand,
“For protection” Enzo mutters and I blush but I don't say anything. At least the moon goddess knows that I will literally die if this man ever leaves me.
