Chapter 115 - The Betrayed Luna They Want
ENZO’s POV.
A huge slap connects with Maria’s face as Michelle grits her teeth in anger. She doesn’t even bother to collect the antidote from the lady at the door before slapping her hard across the face and I see how Maria’s gaze drops immediately and for a moment I can feel anger emanating from her.
“How dare you, Maria?” Michelle half yells, “how dare you try to seduce my husband”
“What exactly do you mean ma?” Maria asks back as a look of confusion flashes through hee face, “I can understand if I did something wrong and you have slapped me for it ma, what exactly did I do?
“Are you trying to act dumb with me right now?” Michelle half yells, “you don’t know what you did?”
“You don’t have to shout babe” I tell her from where I am standing, “remember you are pregnant”
Maria looks at me for a while before returning her attention to the woman in front of her.
“I left everything I was doing and had to rush to the airport, rush through all the processes so I could get to bring what the boss wanted. If I had any ulterior motive, I wouldn’t be standing here right now”
“Ulterior motive you said?” Michelle spits in anger, “do you think I am a fool or I don’t have eyes? You claim to be the perfect assistant while secretly lusting after my husband. Are you tired of living? Should I just tear you into a million pieces?”
Michelle places both of her hands on her waist as she continues to stare back at Maria.
“You knew Enzo was not fine and you wanted to take him somewhere else? Tell me, where exactly were you taking him to?”
Maria is silent for a while and I know she is trying to come up with what to say.
“That’s a misunderstanding ma’am” she tells Michelle, “the boss was so sick and i wanted to take him to the hospital and give you a call but he stopped me and told me to bring him straight to you. Why would I want to take him somewhere else?”
“Don’t you fucking lie to me again” Michelle growls in anger and slaps her hard across the face again,
“I am really sensitive right now and any little thing can trigger me so don’t you dare”
“Come here, Michelle” I grab a hold of her waist and pull her into my embrace,
“That’s enough”
I purposely didn’t interfere from the start because I wanted her to make her point known and to let Maria know that my wife is capable of tearing her into a million pieces if she dared to do something out of the ordinary.
“That’s not enough Enzo” Michelle blurt, “let me speak to this assistant of yours”
After talking, she makes to wriggle out of my embrace but I hold onto her. This is the first time I am seeing this woman this upset and boy it is not funny.
“Just who the hell do you think you are?” She growls again, “how dare you even look at my husband with love in your eyes? Look let me warn you Maria, I took you as a family and I can make you into an enemy faster then you can imagine, do you fucking hear what i just said?”
“I am sorry ma’am, I…
“Don’t you fucking tell me that” Michelle cuts her off, “if you want to keep working for Avanti, you are free but that will be away from my husband”
Not waiting for her response, Michelle yanks the box away from her hand and shuts the door closed.
She is fuming in anger and I just pull her into my embrace.
We both stay in that position for a while until she pulls away from me and hands me the box.
“You should take your antidote now, Enzo” her voice is calm and collected now, “the earlier the better”
“You shouldn’t get so angry, you know that”
“This is partly your fault” Michelle rolls her eyes at me, “you know she is in love with you but you kept her by your side anyways. Who knows what she would have done if you weren’t conscious enough to stop her?
“I let her off with a warning” I told her, “you don’t have to worry about anything babe”
“You always say not to worry but put me in a constant state of worry hubby” Michelle massages the space between her brows, “you have to send her to another department entirely. I have been feeling uneasy about since at the hospital but I didn’t say anything because she worked so well but not anymore babe, Maria is a threat to us at this point and I won’t allow her to succeed in her plans”
“I know babe” I tuck a few strands of hair to the back of her ear, “now calm down okay? Don’t forget you are pregnant and all these kind of stress is not good for you”
“Fuck this, you better not keep anything from me again” she warns, “I need to use the bathroom”
With that she walks away towards the bathroom and I can’t help but smile at her. She has been so possessive and I am loving it, I love the thought of being protected by her.
With one last look at the bathroom door, I walk towards the door and push it open.
As soon as I step through the door, I see Maria standing just a few feet away from the door and she looks sad, something which doesn’t bother me even in the least.
“You are still here?”
“I have tried sir” she starts talking, “I have tried so hard not to react to everything but I think your wife is mistaken at this point. You know I have liked you for years but I kept my distance away from you so how can she think I am a threat to you now sir?”
“Are you done?” I ask her, my hand massaging the back of my neck, “you can drop the act now”
“What?”
“I said drop the act, Maria”
“Fine, I will,” she slowly cleans the tears from her eyes, “it’s getting hard pretending not to want you sir” she starts walking towards me, “and now your wife has aggravated everything, I was happy just watching you from afar sir and now I want you. I want you so much that I can already feel your hands caressing my body as our nakedness is pressed against each other” she comes to a halt in front of me and her finger caresses my bare arm for a moment,
“You asked me to drop the act so I will, sir” a mocking smirk appears at the base of her lips, “remember you asked me too”
I just keep looking at her lazily until she finishes her jargon.
“At least now I can openly show my affection for you, Enzo” she makes to touch me again but I grab onto her hand and push her against the wall, my gaze darkening as my eyes continue to stare back at her. For the first time in years, I feel disgusted by this woman in front of me.
“Now you are raising your hand to the same woman you beat Nicholas up for, really?”
“Make sure I don’t see you anywhere near Avanti by the time I am back, don’t say I didn’t warn you”
“Now you will make that woman feel like the boss, Enzo " Maria retorts, “how can you throw me away after all these years? I have worked for you for so long, Enzo. How can you let me off without any reason?”
I open my mouth to say something when my eyes notice the tattoo on her neck. This is something I have not seen since I have known her or I just didn’t pay enough attention to her to be able to have noticed it.
“Michelle only slapped you, I will kill you if you show your face to me again. Don’t make me do that, I will let you off with the last bit of respect I have for you. Don’t show me your fucking face again”
I let go of her neck and shove her off.
As I make to walk away, hee next words halt me.
“It is fun taking another man’s child as yours, Enzo?”
“What?”
“Now you have told me to drop the act boss, I will come with everything I have got”
After she is done, Maria turns on her heels and makes to leave but the words of the woman behind me halts her.
“I wasn’t aware that you will pretend to dwell among us so you can be close to the man that your lustful nature has drawn you too Maria” Michelle walks up to us with a mocking look hovering over her face, “but right now, completing our vacation is the most important thing just like I have promised my husband so your case is not important now”
“I see you have found out” a huge smirk appears on maria’s lips, “as expected of the moon goddess’s favorite child”
“Of course” Michelle pulls me close and presses a kiss on my lips and I see how the lady in front of me begins to fine.
“Too bad this one is mine, why don’t you take your lustful self to look for someone else, I will gouge out your eyes if you even dare to look at him with those eyes again”
Maria does not say anything and angrily walks away while I turn to the woman beside me.
“What do you mean?”
“Let’s say you have been giving orders to a goddess for years now, hubby. You really outdid yourself this time around, didn’t you?” She asks while flashing me a mocking smirk, “you really are the ladies man, Enzo Phipps”
