-HIM-
I ran over the fallen wall before jumping over the portal that had been opened in the floor. I was fast as I moved while my mate and the enchantress looked at me with wide eyes. I took out my sword and as I went down, I slashed Psaltisis's hand which was holding my mate's neck.
It all happened in the blink of an eye. Psaltisi screamed in pain before she fell back. I was quick to get Arsinoe off the ground and push her behind me.
“Ares!” My mate sobbed. She sounded happy to have seen me but I didn’t miss the undertone of fear in her voice. This must have been a living nightmare for her.
I wanted to hold her like I always did and calm her down. I and my wolf were happy to have finally got to her. We wanted to embrace her and feel the sparks again. They made me feel alive but I couldn’t do it just yet because Psaltisi recovered quickly.
She glared at me as the hand which I had cut crawled back to her before she picked it up and attached it back into her body. It looked bizarre and horrible.
“So, we have guests,” The enchantress gritted, “Why didn’t you tell me that you were expecting someone?” She questioned to my mate, “And that too the wolf prince!”
She roared as she rounded us.
“I know how to kill her,” Arsinoe whispered in my ear from behind while I glared down at the enchantress.
“You turned out to be just like me!” The enchantress commented while she stretched her hands to get them working again.
“No, she isn’t,” I gritted at the enchantress while I tried to push Arsinoe away from me. I didn’t want her to get in between while I would deal with the enchantress. I wanted her to be away and safe but Arsinoe didn’t seem to be moving away from me.
“I am not talking to you, mutt!” She gritted at me, “Get out of here. It’s just me and her,”
“Not happening,” I told her. At this, her eyes turned redder before she charged at me while one of her hands turned into a sword. I let my wolf take over me now.
He let out a thundering growl before I pushed Arsinoe back and engaged into a duel with the enchantress. Meanwhile, I heard others entering the courtroom but I concentrated on taking the enchantress down.
I had the advantage of speed over her so I was quick with my moves but no matter how many wounds I put on her body, they healed even quicker than my werewolf healing capability. This was slowly starting to make me panic.
The enchantress noticed this and she was slowly starting to look smug. With this, her blows became angrier and stronger. At one point, she simply threw some balls of black smoke at me which threw me across the room.
My back hit the wall before I fell to the floor. Arsinoe was instantly by my side while I saw Augustus and Regulus tackling the enchantress together.
“Are you alright?” She asked me while I got up. A strong wave of pain washed all over my body. It felt like some of my bones were broken.
“Yeah,” I groaned while I held on to her just to feel the sparks. They helped me a lot.
“No matter what you do, she is not going to die. Not so easily,” Arsinoe told me while we watched Psaltisi trying to push Regulus into the portal while simultaneously fighting Augustus. Although Regulus was quick to move away and hit the enchantress on the head.
“I know how to kill her but it will take a lot of work and co-operation,” She told me before continuing, “Psaltisi is actually a very ancient goddess cursed to be an evil enchantress. We have to free the goddess from the curse,”
This caught my attention while Arsinoe continued to speak, “We need to carve her heart out and cut it into two pieces. The right side is needed to be buried while the left side is to be burned. Do you think the five of us can do this?” She asked me, searching my eyes.
“The four of us can do this. I don’t want you in this,” I told her and it instantly made her frown. Meanwhile, I felt my body recovering from the blow. On the other hand, Celeste had joined Augustus and Regulus in the fight.
The three of them were fighting the enchantress but still, they weren’t able to get to her.
“I am in this, Ares,” Arsinoe told me with determination as she took out of one the biggest daggers out of my gear belt but before she could go, I grabbed her wrist.
“Arsinoe, please. I don’t want you to be hurt!” I told her while I got up but the adamant look on her face told me that she wasn’t going to have any of it.
“I wouldn’t be h-“ I shushed her with a brief peck on her lips before leaving her behind and joining the three wolves already fighting the enchantress.
Over the mind-link, I told them how to kill the enchantress. We devised many plans to kill her and also carried them out but to no avail. The enchantress was too powerful and cunning. She somehow knew our moves.
We were starting to get impatient now and we would hit her at any chance we get but it was still not affecting her. The enchantress was slowly starting to get angrier too.
My blood got boiling when she stabbed Regulus on his shoulder. I roared before swinging my sword at her. She caught my sword and kicked me in the stomach hard, making me stagger back.
Augustus and Celeste took this chance to attack the enchantress but she still somehow had the upper hand over all of us.
“Mutts!” She spat at us before she raised her hands in the air and the air started to spin around us. It was when I noticed that the portal on the floor had started to get wider. Wherever the portal opened on the other side, it didn’t seem like a good place to be.
We recovered soon and started to attack her again but this time, she had a protective shield around her, which didn’t let us get closer to her. We tried everything to break the shield around her but we couldn’t even put a dent on it.
Meanwhile, winds around us grew stronger. It now resembled a storm but all of a sudden, everything stopped.
“Ivana!” A voice echoed in the ruins. This made the enchantress stop and look past us with a look of bewilderment and surprise. We too had to turn around too out of curiosity to find my mate standing at the raised platform in the courtroom where the thrones used to be.
Arsinoe had violet light emanating from her eyes and her body while her hair floated in the air. She looked very eerie and different- resembling the enchantress even more.
“We want to help you, Ivana,” Arsinoe spoke. Her voice echoed throughout the ruins as she spoke, “Let us help you, Ivana,” She told the enchantress politely.
This made me turn around to look at the enchantress. The evil from her face had disappeared for a moment and so have her shield.
I knew it was the right moment.
