Everyone was shocked upon finding out that Arsinoe had been abducted by Psaltisi. It was very unexpected but it made me think what Psaltisi could possibly want from Arsinoe. She already abandoned Arsinoe at birth but why was she back now?
“Thank goddess, we didn’t attack Alexandria on impulse,” Mother commented. At this, I felt my father’s eyes on me. I knew that he was looking down at me.
“We must go there now!” I spoke up but everyone remained silent.
“We?” Father cocked an eyebrow at me. “It’s your mate. You should go rescue her,” He spoke. I wasn’t surprised to find a frown on my mother’s face. I knew that he was acting purely with ego. It was because of our fight that we had back there and I was aware that my father didn’t like my mate. At all.
This made me angrier.
“Alright,” I told him before I spun on my heels and walked out of the courtroom. I and my wolf were very angry but at least, we knew where Arsinoe was! I wanted to get to her sooner before it was too late. When I come back with her, I would deal with my father later.
Angrily, I stormed to the weaponry to get ready to go down to the mortal realm. While I was at the weaponry, choosing my weapons and getting ready, I was visited by Augustus, Regulus and Celeste.
“What?” I gritted at them.
“We are going with you,” Celeste answered. I looked over my shoulder at the trio to see if they were serious at all.
They were.
“There’s no need to come. I can handle this myself,” I told them.
“We don’t care. You are going to be our king. It’s our duty to serve you no matter what,” Augustus spoke this time. I didn’t miss the determination in his voice and I knew even if I protested, they weren’t going to leave me alone.
So, we prepared together before we headed towards the ministry of teleportation. We needed a good portal to go to the place Inanna had told us about. We had tried our best to prepare according to any scenario that we could imagine facing at the ruins.
It was soon when we were being transported back to the frozen mortal land where the ruins of my father’s mortal kingdom were located. We first entered the frozen forest. I remember coming here once with my mother because she wanted me to show her old pack. Sadly, no one remembered her there.
We decided to head towards the ruins through the frozen forest because we were already in a werewolf pack and if they saw us then it would be extra work for us. I didn’t want to delay getting to my mate. It was a bit hard to get through the thick snow and the trees but I couldn’t have felt happier when I finally started to see the ruins through the gaps between the trees.
The three of them followed me till the edge of the forest before all of us split and took our positions around the ruins. It was a big place and we were only four people to cover the whole area. The only advantage we had was that the place was very much familiar to Zaeris so we wouldn’t be having any problem navigating it.
I decided to enter the ruins through the back and searched all the wings and rooms one by one. The more rooms I searched, the more impatient and restless I got. My wolf was pacing inside me and he was ready to come out at any given moment.
I just wanted to see my Pharaoh as soon as possible otherwise I was going to turn everything into ashes. After searching all the royal wings, I was disappointed but while I was heading towards the servant’s quarters, Celeste found me.
Her wide eyes and the look of shock on her face were enough for me to know that she had discovered something. I didn’t waste a moment and followed her. We were soon in one of the minister’s wing and heading straight to a bedroom.
As we took a turn towards the bedroom, my eyes first found some angry, big holes in the walls. Upon close inspection, I found that the stones on the wall around the whole were melting. It deeply bewildered me but it only made our suspicions stronger.
When we entered the bedroom, we found a live fire in the hearth and the room seemed like someone was living there. It hadn't been long since they left the place. We also find some sings in the room which hinted that a fight might have had happened here.
“They’re here,” I muttered and Celeste nodded before mind linking others to move deeper into the ruins and closer to the courtroom.
We followed the holes on the walls until we could see them no more. I was a bit discouraged when the tail ended but Celeste was quick to spot some footsteps on the thick grime coating the floor. We followed it as it led us to the courtroom.
When we got closer to the courtroom, we were able to hear some noises. I recognized Arsinoe’s voice the moment I heard it, even though it was very faint and muffled. My wolf was now very much aware of her.
We could feel her fear and terror through the bond. It only made me want to get to her sooner.
By now, Augustus and Regulus had caught up with us so we took our positions around the courtroom.
We were constantly hearing several sounds of struggle coming from inside the courthouse. This made us speed up the process. After we were done making sure that no one could escape from the courtroom, I found an old wall and knocked the entirety of it down with the help of one of Augustus’ weapons.
As the wall fell inside the courtroom, the whole place was claimed by thick clouds of dust but even through them, I was able to feel my Pharaoh before my eyes finally found her.
She was kneeling on the ground while her hands were trying to get rid of something wrapped around her neck. Although she stopped as soon as she felt and saw me. My wolf howled with joy inside me when her eyes lit up upon seeing me but as my eyes left her for a moment and shifted to the figure standing beside her, I froze.
Just the sight of her gave me absolute chills. Just looking at her could strike terror in anyone's heart. I couldn’t believe that I was finally looking at the infamous enchantress, Psaltisi. Her red glowing eyes, simmering with pure evil were staring back at me with a mixture of bewilderment and anger.
She looked just looked like my mate but had a more haunting air to herself. It was then I noticed that she was holding Arsinoe’s neck. My wolf growled at this before we charged at the enchantress.
