Edwina's POV
Everything started way too quickly. I had simply expected things to go smoothly where I would hand Elena over to Alpha Derrick and Lucian would simply forget about her. But I did not even begin to imagine that my actions could lead to so many people being dead.
In the short amount of time Elena had been with Lucian, she had made such a great impact in his life that he was willing to risk so many of his men to save her. When he entered to take her away, I was observing from a corner, and I saw the great care he had in his eyes.
When Lucian and Alpha Derrick began fighting, I quickly escaped so as not to get wounded in the crossfire. I knew that day's escape route to leave this place was blocked because of the heavy battle going on outside. Therefore, my only choice was to look for somewhere safe and hide.
I found a nice little room where I was certain no one would be able to find me, but to my surprise, when I walked in, Elena was right there lying down unconscious. She was yet to die, and it seemed that the poison I had laced the abortion drug with was yet to take full effect and kill her.
I wanted to rush over to her and cease her breathing by myself, but I needed to take a step back and think. I was not willing to get my hands directly dirty by killing Elena through direct contact. Also, Lucian would probably come here later on because I already knew that it was he who kept Elena here.
What if me killing Elena led to future problems? If I were to do the deed, I would need to escape immediately. But the pathways with which I could escape were all blocked by men engaged in furious battle and murder everywhere. If I were to run in a direction I did not know, I could easily die, and I was not willing to take such chances.
The safest place around was definitely this room, and I was certain that if Lucian defeated Alpha Derrick, he would come straight here immediately. If he were to walk in and see me beside Elena with Elena dead, in his rage, he may do something to me. If one of Alpha Derrick's men saw me, they could kill me and take Elena to Alpha Derrick. There were many scenarios that could occur if I were to murder Elena right here, and neither of them seemed pleasant. Therefore, I simply gave Elena her fair bit of space so that I did not either speed up or slow down how quickly she died.
Eventually, I walked over to her and carried her in my arms, trying to slow down her death rate. If Lucian were to walk in and see me holding Elena like this, he would not think twice about me betraying him. He would simply believe that I came here for Elena and nothing else. Therefore, I carried Elena and made her feel as comfortable as possible.
Eventually, after what seemed like an eternity, the door opened and Lucian stepped in. When he saw me, he asked a couple of questions, but his worry over Elena overcame his curiosity. Therefore, when he could no longer hold on anymore, he simply snatched Elena from me and ran in the direction of the pack. I said nothing and followed behind him in apprehension. With Lucian paving the way, no one could dare hurt me, and therefore I safely made my getaway.
I wanted to use the opportunity to sneak off and run away. Run far away from Lucian and everything, but I just knew that I couldn't. I had sacrificed way too much to get this far just to throw everything away at this point. Hundreds of men died here today just because of what I did, and me running away... I just couldn't imagine myself running away and leaving everything behind. I had done too much work and taken too many risks for everything to go to hell. Therefore, I followed behind Lucian consistently.
Eventually, we arrived at the pack, and Lucian didn't hesitate to hand Elena over to the nurses and doctors. I got word that Luna was in an adjacent room, but I didn't care about her at the moment. I was worried that Elena would wake up and spill everything.
Luna's condition was too bad for her to wake up soon. She was in such bad shape I wouldn't doubt if she would make it, and I was certain she would die. In the event that she survived, there was a good chance she would be unconscious and in a coma for years due to the amount of blood loss and trauma she suffered. Therefore, the person that I needed to worry about was Elena.
If Elena were to be saved from that poison, she would probably be well enough to talk in about one or two days. Therefore, she needed silencing.
But then I had to rethink the whole thing. What if I had gravely miscalculated and Luna ended up waking first before Elena? If Luna were to wake up and spill everything, I would be in deep trouble. Therefore, the wisest course of action would be to kill the both of them without taking any chances.
My mind began to roam, and I was considering the most efficient ways of eradicating the both of them as quietly as possible. I was in a nearby waiting room, and I observed as nurses one after the other walked into the room. And then it came to me: the best way for me to get rid of the both of them without anyone suspecting would be if they thought I was a nurse.
Therefore, I wasted no time in getting up and acting quickly. There was not a second to waste, and both Elena and Luna needed to be dead as soon as possible.
"Hello there, please can I speak with you?" I said to a nurse who was passing by in a hurry to Luna's room.
"Excuse me, but I think this is a bit urgent. Can't this conversation wait until after I'm done?" the nurse said.
"Trust me, I will make it as brief as I can. I won't waste your time, and you'll be on your way soon," I said to her reassuringly.
She observed me for a while, and when she confirmed that my intention seemed pure enough, she invited me into a nearby room. The room was totally empty, giving me the perfect opportunity to do what I wanted.
"Can I know what this is all about? If you are worried about the patient, don't worry, we are doing our best," the nurse said in a reassuring voice.
"Please, I want you to do more than your best and handle the patient in that particular ward with care. She's my sister, you see, and I don't want anything to happen to her," I said and began to tear up.
"Oh, I see. That's why you were so worried earlier. I understand your concern, and for that, I will do everything in my power to save her life. You need to understand that the drugs that should be administered should be administered to her immediately. So if you want your sister to be safe, worry less and try to assist more. I will do what I can and try my best to save your sister's life," the nurse said and began to walk out.
"Oh, and one more thing..." I said and began to reach out for a piece of iron that seemed like it was used in constructing a drip stand. As soon as the nurse turned around, I used all my strength to hit her with the piece of metal, and after three solid hits, she was out cold.
I made sure not to get any blood on the dress, and after trying it on, it looked a bit small on me, but I didn't really care. I put it on and went straight for Elena's ward. Although Luna was a threat, the slightest movement from Elena would attract Lucian's attention. Lucian getting too close to Elena was something I didn't want, and therefore I wanted to silence her immediately. Luna was my sister, but I knew that her waking up and revealing anything would lead to my immediate death. Since she wouldn't hesitate to kill me, I wouldn't hesitate to kill her either; therefore, I saved her for last.
Maybe after I silenced the two of them, I would look for the one last person who posed a threat to me. The last member of Lucian's pack who knew about my dealings with Alpha Derrick was Lucas, and if he spilled the beans to Lucian, that would ruin everything. I could not have him going to Lucian and telling him what had happened because I would be done for if something like that were to take place.
But getting rid of Lucas would require a more strategic and probably expensive plan. Lucas was not someone I could handle alone, and I would probably need to hire the help of more than one person to get rid of him. But I could think about assassinating Lucas later on after I got rid of Elena and Luna.
As soon as I walked into Elena's room, I quickly put down the tray of drugs meant for Luna. If I was going to kill Elena, I would have to do it as silently as possible. If I were to use a scalpel, then the crime would easily be traced back to me. Also, my fingerprints would be left there, and I didn't want something like that to happen. Therefore, I began to gather different cleaning agents which were used not only to clean a person's skin before injection but to clean other things as well.
I couldn't call myself particularly brilliant, but I got a fair bit of education on science and knew a little bit on chemistry. After combining a few strong acids which I was sure wouldn't react immediately, I put it in a syringe and began to approach Elena's drip. As soon as I put it in the drip, it would flow into Elena's bloodstream, and she would be dead not long after.
My hands were shaking, but I moved forward and placed the needle right on the sachet of the bag. Just as I was about to puncture it and press the liquid inside, a strong hand held me back.
I was scared out of my skin and quickly turned around to look at who it was. To my complete shock, it was none other than Lucas.
