Chapter 27 Twenty Seven
Elara's POV
“Today's practice was worth it. I'll have Simon arrange your duel with Throne. Later today or tomorrow.”
I took a sip from my water bottle, wiping away beads of sweat that threatened to cascade down into my eyes with the back of my palm.
Cyric nodded.
“I would be honored. I can't wait to show Throne what I am made of.” Cyric smirked, his tone serious.
I flashed him a soft smile.m, smiling at Cyric’s confidence.
“I have confidence that you'll do a great job and I am sure you'll make a good impression as well but he you know Throne, he is so good at combat and swordfight and archery and hiking. He is good at everything. It's going to take your best, best to defeat him. I hope you are prepared.” I said as we walked off the archery range.
“Throne? Throne is just a kid when it comes to swordfight. I can easily defeat him with a twinkling of an eye. Get the job done.”
“You'll need to take care of your arm first. If you aren't fully recovered, we can reschedule everything. I don't want you jeopardizing your health because you want to prove your worth to you. I know potential when I see you. You have great potential, little Alpha of the Kordova warehouse.”
Cyric grinned broadly, his left cheek entrenched into a dimple.
The cool air hit us immediately as we exited the archery ground. A welcome relief hit us from the intensity of our practice.
Cyric's eyes sparkled with determination as we made our way up the stairs.
"I'll make sure to impress you and put up a show when the time is right" he said, his voice low and steady. I could sense sheer determination in his voice.
I loved his fierce spirit. His charisma. He reminded me of myself when I had arrived on this path two years ago.
I nodded, feeling a sense of pride in my team. With the kind of skill Cyric had, coupled with Throne, Aria and Darius and also my strategy, I knew we were unstoppable.
I clapped him on the back."
Let's get ready for the duel. It could be later today or tomorrow or a day after tomorrow. Just get your mind set. I'll have Simon set it up when the time is right." Cyric grinned, already visualizing his victory.
“Thank you, Boss.”
Cyric turned around, walking away, his shoes clicking softly on the floor. He took a left turn and disappeared through a door.
Then it occurred to me that I had to see the doctor regarding the culprit’s recovery. I had to see for myself. Know for myself. If he was ready to be interrogated by Darius or not.
I turned towards the clinic tent. I walked into the clinic tent, my mind focused on a lot of things.
I had to control my anger to prevent having an outburst of emotion. If not that I need to extract information from the woounded man, I would have had his throat slit open by myself. I wanted the culprit's recovery but I needed him dead as well. Once I was done with him, I would kill him myself.
I ntered the clinic tent, the scent of disinfectant and medicine hitting my nostrils. The doctor looked up from his notes, a hint of a smile on his face. He had a hint of professionalism on his face.
“Good morning, Boss. I was expecting you. I forget to tell the nurses to come and fetch you.”
“Morning, Doc. How is he doing?" I inquired, my voice low.
The doctor rubbed his temples. Draping his stethoscope around his neck.
My eyes scanned the culprit who was now fast asleep on his hospital bed. He looked better than he was yesterday night. His eyes didn't look swollen. He's dark circles were no longer there. His skin color was returning gradually. I could tell he had a lot of recovery to do but for now, I had to hear from the horse's mouth.
"How's he doing? Can he be interrogated now?" I asked, my interest genuine.
The doctor nodded. "He's healing well. But it's still early to tell if he's ready for interrogation. He's body is responding to the treatments. Hell need a few days. A day or two."
I nodded thoughtfully. My shoulders squared.
"But can't we just ask him a few questions now. His testament would go a long way in defeating Silvester.” I persuaded.
“I totally understand you, Boss. I know you want to take revenge of those good that killed our friends last. As much as it hurt that we are treating an enemy to facilitate his quick recovery. We can't help but wait for the right time. We need him to be in his right mind.”
I nodded, understand the doctor perfectly.
“I understand you, Doc. Keep me updated about his recovery. I want to know everything . Including the moment he wakes up and is ready to face my men." I ordered, my gaze fixed on the culprit as his heart rose and fell.
My fingers formed a tight fist. I gritted mybm teeth, trying to control my rage.
“He is recovering well. But we need to monitor him closely. I'll keep you posted on his matter, Boss.” He assured with a professional smile etched on his face.
I nodded, my mind already racing with questions for the culprit. He had a lot of answering to do. Lots of answers to give
The doctor nodded, making a note on his pad.
I turned to leave, my thoughts already racing ahead to the duel between Cyric and Throne. This was going to be interesting. I made my way out of the clinic tent, heading to my room to have a quick bath. Breakfast and then meet with Aria and Darius.
We had a lot to talk about.
A sigh of relief escaped my lips. I smiled at myself. Contempt with all I had done so far.
I was a genius.
